Chapter Bond
She took a deep breath, while taking him in.
"Can..........can you hear me?" She asked.
"Yes." He replied calmly.
She moved towards him. Sam put his head down, where she then placed hers against his. They stood there, together. Tears welled in Rosalies eyes. She sobbed but giggled at the same time.
"I've been waiting for this for so long." She told him.
Even if it was just being able to talk to him, this was more then she could have asked for. All the failed attempts at trying to help her shift was quickly forgotten, and the bond they felt for each other grew exponentially.
"Look at me." He told her.
His aura seemed different. Before he was shy and gitty, but now what stood before her was a more calm and serious Sam. She stepped back to face him.
"First things first." He said.
"Oh god...what?" She asked him.
All these months, he had no idea what she would sound like. It was weird but Rosalie felt insecure for what seemed to be the first time. What's he thinking? She thought. She saw many versions of Sam over time but this was something new to her. She's seen him as brave, nervous, caring, a goof ball most of the time but she always felt a sense of stability and seriousness when it came to him.
"So now that I can finally hear you." He said.
"Yes, Sam?" She replied.
"I don't know about you, but if you aren't going to tell me your name, Wolfy is starting to sound pretty good right about now." He glanced from the side.
Nevermind.........she thought.
"Ahahahah I mean you couldn't come up with anything better I suppose hu?" She stated.
"Come on Whitey, let's go in and dry off first." He nodded to the direction of the door.
He made his way towards the back door first, then was followed by Rosalie.
"That is not any better ahah." She told him.
The two shook their fur, loose of mud and rain before entering the house. While Rosalie licked her paws and cleaned herself off, Sam went upstairs and shifted before getting dressed. He came back down with a towel, and draped it over Rosalie's back, then took a seat at the kitchen table.
It was out of pure nervousness that she kept quiet and continued cleaning herself. He watched her and kept quite still, she could feel his eyes on her. She looked up at him and finally took a seat in front of him.
"Check one...two..three...this thing still working?" She asked.
"Ahah yes." He replied.
"Okay, well......." She exhaled loudly. "Where do I begin? My name is Rosalie Winters, and as you already know, I've been stuck like this for who knows how long."
She continued to tell him, about her life up to the age she first shifted. He listened attentively, making sure there were no unnecessary interruptions. She told him about the day of the attack, and how she was forced to run for her life after her parents lives were taken. The last thing her mother yelled to her was run. Ever since then, it was up to her to fend for herself. She told him about the pack that attacked. How she doesn't know who, or why. She also didn't forget to mention, that she has no idea how old she is and what she looks like, now that time had slipped away while being on her own for so long...
"And that's basically how I've ended up here." She ended.
He looked down at her paws, and smiled.
"What is it?" She asked.
"Nothing.....I thought you looked more like a Sarah, but Rosalie....seems so much more fitting." He looked at her with a smile.
"Winters......." He pondered.... "What pack did you belong to Rose?"
She blushed. Somehow when he said it, her name felt like it had more meaning.
"We were part of the Ka-luna pack." She answered.
"Hmm. I don't think I've heard of it myself, but there are so many out there." He brought his hand behind his head again.
"Uh oh." She moaned. "Your anxious..why?"
"Well, I don't really know much about your pack, but I know someone who might." He said.
"Really!?" She asked.
"Ya......" He sighed...."The person who may know is known in the area for keeping records of past, and present lineage."
"Okay...and...?" she pressed.
"Well...he lives at the pack house in town, and we....may...not..be..on best of terms." He softly sighed.
"Oh." She responded.
He stood up from the table and knelt down on his knees in front of her.
"Rosalie Winters....I Samuel...will stop at nothing to help you. Your technically a part of me now, and we still haven't finished our first mission of helping you shift. So! With that said.....it looks like I have a few phones calls to make." He told her with his hand on his chest. A little cheesy, but that was Sam.
Tears started to well.
"Thank you Sam." She said.
......................................
Sam reached for his phone, and noticed that he missed a slew of messages.
Messages from Paul H.
4:21 You dead yet?
4:23 Hello?
4:28 I'm serious, bro!
Missed call from Paul B.
5:00 I'm thinking of coming over man...
"Jesus Paul, it's only been a few hours since you left." He smirked.
As a courtesy, Sam quickly messaged Paul back and then went through his contact list. He scrolled until he came to whom he was looking for and hit call. Rosalie could hear his breathing quicken.
Ring ~ Ring~ Ring~ Ring~
"Hello! Sam?......is that you?" a voice whispered.
"Uh.....hey Mandy." He said nervously.
"Oh...you are in so much shit...it ain't even funny!" The woman replied.
"Ya...ya I know." Sam sighed.
"Like what the hell! First you take off, cus you want nothing to do with the pack and then you don't call......for a year!?
"Mandy....Im sorry...Ive just been bu-"
Samuel Jon Bishop!! you better not say that you were busy. You can't take the few minutes to call your family!? Are your fingers broken!?. Oh my god just wait until he finds out your calling. She stated.
"Actually Mandy, that's why I'm calling......" He sighed as he rubbed his eyes......."is he there?" He asked.
"Just stay on the line!" She put the phone down and walked away.
Sam was now pacing slowly back and forth, waiting for a voice to jump on the other end. He then heard the phone pick up and he stopped in place. Rosalie could pick up what was being said with her enhanced hearing. She could hear deep breathing on the other end.
"Sam?" A man's voice came on the other end.
Sam looked at Rosalie...she looked at him.
"Hey dad."
