Chapter 23
Beau was furious, how could the man who had been his Gramps all his life treat that thing known as Lilibeth with such care. "Listen here brat, no one wants you here so get to your room and stay there" Beau yelled causing Lilibeth to jump in fright. Lilibeth went to take off to her room only to be stopped by Julian taking her hand in his. "Beau sit down now. You will not talk to your sister like that. Your father may allow it but I won't" Julian fumed out. Darren went to say something but one look from Julian had him shutting his mouth. "She isn't anything to you. What do you care?" Leo fumed out.
"Dj take your sister upstairs pack her things, she will be living with me from now on" Julian told his eldest grandson. Dj nodded his head, "come on Lili, let's get your things" Dj spoke quietly to his sister seeing the tears running down her face. The minute that Dj and Lilibeth were out of sight Julian stood up slamming his hand on the table.
"Listen here and listen good. That little girl is innocent. She has done nothing and none of you have any right to treat her like she is less than you. Your father is the one who walked away from his responsibilities after getting her mother pregnant. Your mother would be ashamed of you all. As for you Darren, you are pathetic to allow your sons to treat an innocent child like that after everything she has been through. My wife and I stepped up to raise your boys when you couldn't after Tarni died but it seems you should never of been allowed to raise the children once you cleaned yourself up because you have failed them just as much as you failed Lilibeth. None of you are welcome in my home again. That is now Lilibeth's home and I will not have her scared because of you lot" Julian stated pointing to Beau and Darren.
Lex couldn't keep his mouth shut, "but you are our grandfather not hers" Lex bit out. "Remember Lex, we aren't anything according to your logic. We aren't blood related, I'm the man who raised your mother when her own father was abusive to her and your grandmother" Julian stated. "Darren you will give me the number of Lilibeth's social worker and I will make this offical" Julian added before excusing himself from the table so he could check on Lilibeth and Dj.
"Gramps?" Zac questioned as he didn't know what was happening. "Walk with me Zac" Julian stated as he was leaving the dining room. "Zac your mum was and always will be my baby girl. You are my grandson as well that won't change. Your grandmother and I married when your mum was barely three. She was a daddies girl and no one could tell her, I wasn't her dad. Your brother made it known that Lilibeth was nothing to me because we weren't blood related. Family isn't about blood Zac and nothing will change me being your Gramps. Lilibeth needs a loving home and that's not here" Julian told Zac who nodded his head in understanding. "I know Gramps. Lilibeth is the sweetest little girl ever. She deserves so much more then what she has been given" Zac added. "So do you Zac" Julian added shocking his grandson.
"Go pack a bag Zac, I'm leaving in half an hour. You are more then welcome to join us" Julian added before lightly knocking on Lilibeth's bedroom door. Zac took off to his room, he didn't want to stay in a house where if you were different, you were treated poorly. He could never be himself in this house and he learnt that the hard way.
Julian walked into Lilibeth's room seeing Lilibeth curled up in a ball on her bed. His heart broke for the little girl. She didn't deserve the hand she was dealt at all. Julian was going to give her the life she deserved. Dj walked out of the closet with one suitcase which held all of Lilibeth's possessions. Julian raised his eyebrow in question to Dj. "This is all of Lilibeth's stuff" Dj clarified. Julian frowned but nodded his head in understanding.
"Right my little Beth, you are going to be living with me from now on. This is not a home any child should be living in. Dj and Zac will be coming too" Julian stated while sitting next to Lilibeth on the bed. He gently began to run his hand through Lilibeth's hair. Lilibeth was curled into a ball silently crying, why didn't any one want her? What had she done so wrong in her life to make everyone treat her badly?
Dj placed the suitcase at the door then headed to his room to pack his things up. He wouldn't stay with a man who thought it acceptable to treat a child the way he was treating Lilibeth. Lilibeth was an innocent child and had done nothing to anyone. Zac popped out of his room with two bags packed just as Dj was entering his room. Zac looked towards Dj who smiled and beckoned him over knowing that Gramps would want some time with Lilibeth alone. Zac dropped his bags outside his door and headed in Dj's room.
Julian was sitting on the bed still combing his hands through Lilibeth's hair. "You know my little Beth, my daughter was just like you when she came to live with me. Her and her mum were hurt by someone they trusted. She was a scared little thing to begin with. She wouldn't speak to anyone at all but soon enough, she learnt to trust and then she never stopped talking" Julian spoke softly to Lilibeth. "I won't let them continue to hurt you my little Beth. You don't mind if I call you Beth?" Julian enquired. To him Lilibeth was his granddaughter and no one would tell him any differently. From the minute he laid eyes on her, he knew that this little girl had captured his heart just like Tarni had all those years ago. He would do anything for this little girl including taking her away from people who should of cared for her.
Lilibeth looked up at the man who she just met with tears in her eyes. She didn't know if she could trust him or not but she just wanted someone to save her. "I got you my little Beth. You are ok my sweet girl" Julian answered the unspoken question in Lilibeth's eyes scooping up the little girl and bringing her into a hug answering all that she was asking. "I will protect you my little Beth" Julian whispered to the girl and he meant every single word of it.
