Chapter 60
Chapter 60
It was getting hot in J City in May, and the semester was about to end. Students at the University of J City were getting busy.
Graduating students were busy looking for jobs, preparing for their defense, and saying goodbyes... Meanwhile, Estelle and her
friends were also busy preparing for exams and internships for the second half of the year. On Thursday night, there was a party
in Estelle’s class to celebrate the class president’s birthday – a perfect. chance for everyone to relax and ease their study stress.
At lunch, Isis asked Estelle if she was going to the party that night.
She was a bit excited. “The class president spent a fortune for tonight’s party at Midnight Bar. I’ve never been to Midnight Bar
before, so I’m definitely going to have fun.”
Estelle said lightly, “I’m not going.”
“Every time there’s a class event, you don’t participate. Those who know you understand that you don’t like the noise, but there
are always people behind your back saying that you’re aloof and isolated,” said Isis, her words muffled by a mouthful of pasta.
“The class president even came to me specifically, asking me to make sure you
come!”
Estelle focused on her pasta, unmoved.
Isis pleaded, “Just come, it’s no fun for me alone. Just think of it as keeping me company. Besides, I already promised the class
president you’d come.”
Eating noodles with a fork in her right hand, Estelle lifted her left hand and teld up two fingers.
Isis laughs, “Two ice creams? Deal!”
She raised her hand to high-five Estelle, and they did so flawlessly.
That night, they arrived at Midnight Bar. They headed to the private room, and Estelle found out that not only students from their
class were invited but also people from other classes.
In the crowd, Brooke and Saul were sitting together. Seeing Estelle come in, Saul stared at her face for three seconds, then
looked away with a gloomy expression.
Brooke had been resting at home for over a month and returned to class last week. Perhaps her love for Saul had diluted her
hatred for Estelle. She hasn’t caused Estelle any trouble since she came back.
Upon seeing Estelle, Brooke immediately leaned on Saul’s shoulder, glanced at Estelle, and silently claimed her turf.
The spacious private room was bustling with activity. The class president welcomed Isis and Estelle, laughing heartily, “Isis,
you’re amazing! You really got Estelle to come!”
Estelle handed the class president a box and said softly, “Happy birthday!”
“Thanks!” The class president made a flattered pace, patting his chest.
“I told you I’m great!” Isis laughed proudly, handing over her gift as well. “Happy birthday!”
“Thank you, thank you, two beautiful ladies! Feel free to order anything you’d like to eat or drink!” the class president said,
grinning.
“You’re so generous!” Isis gave him a thumbs up and sat down with Estelle on the couch.
In the dimly lit room, everyone’s faces seemed a bit different than usual. For example, girls who usually appear innocent are now
sitting on guys’ laps, drinking, and boys who are usually reserved end up talking loudly after drinking.
Some guys couldn’t help but glance at Estelle. Seeing her cold and distant, they didn’t dare approach her and

instead pushed Isis, “Ask Estelle to join our game.”
Isis rolled up her sleeves, “Estelle doesn’t like getting involved in your lowbrow fun, but I’ll play with you guys.”
One of the girls sarcastically commented, “Yeah, we’re all lowbrow, unlike Estelle who’s so elegant, sitting in at Mercedes.”
Estelle turned to see a girl leaning over, holding playing cards in her hand, with deep red lips and a contemptuous expression.
Isis stood up immediately, grabbed a stack of cards from the table, and slapped them on the girl’s face, shouting, “What did you
just say? Tell us what you meant, and stop talking like a B!”
Everyone was stunned. The girl who got slapped with the cards lost her previous arrogance and stutters, “I...I was just joking!”
Isis cursed, “A joke my ass! Are we that close with you?”
