Find Beauty After Leaving Wrong Love novel

Chapter 4

Chapter 4

“Critical patient coming through, everyone moves aside.”

Just as I was about to raise my hand, medical staff rushed towards us with a portable stretcher.

Before I could react, a man making way for them collided with me, sending me crashing into the wall. The documents in my hand scattered all over the floor.”

“Watch out, Louise!”

Jeffrey quickly pulled Louise into his arms, stepping on Emily’s death certificate in the process.

“Ah! Jeffrey, it hurts!”

Louise raised her newly bandaged finger, tears welling in her eyes as she looked at Jeffrey.

Seeing this, Jeffrey’s attention was wholly on Louise. He gently held her hand.

“I’ll take you out for a nice meal later to make you feel better.”

Louise nodded, satisfied.

I glanced at the death certificate under Jeffrey’s foot and, ignoring the pain in my back, rushed forward. “Jeffrey, get out of the way!”

Before I could reach him, Jeffrey impatiently pushed me back.

“Rose, I’ve tolerated you long enough. Are you here just to pick a fight?”

Stumbling backward, I looked at the death certificate beneath his feet, tears streaming down my face.

It was the only proof of Emily’s existence in this world.

“Jeffrey, Rose looks so frightening. It’s a wonder you’ve managed to live with her for so long. No wonder Emily turned out the way she did,” Louise said.

Her face was smug as she hid behind Jeffrey, taking the opportunity to slander me.

“Louise, shut up! How dare you even mention Emily? Don’t provoke me, or I’ll slap you right here.”

“Jeffrey, Rose is so scary. I’m really frightened,” Louise whimpered, pretending to be scared as she clung to Jeffrey. Jeffrey’s face darkened, and he stepped forward.

“Rose, apologize to Louise right now, or I won’t let this go.”

Louise, following Jeffrey’s lead, stepped forward too. As soon as Jeffrey’s foot left the death certificate, Louise stepped on it again.

“Louise, move your filthy foot off my things,” I snarled.

My eyes were red with fury as I lunged at her, shoving her to the ground.

This drew a crowd of onlookers.

Jeffrey grabbed my arm and slapped me hard across the face.

“Rose, you’re out of line.”

The force of his slap made my head buzz, and I tasted blood in “Are you okay, Louise?” Jeffrey asked tenderly.

my mouth.

He helped her up, holding her protectively while glaring at me.

I wiped the blood from my mouth and knelt to carefully pick up the now soiled death certificate, cradling it in my

arms.

“Rose, you’re going crazy over a piece of paper and hurting Louise. How did you become so vicious? Apologize to her right now.”

I sneered.

“Apologize to her? Over my dead body.”

I bowed my head, meticulously wiping the dirt from the death certificate, gently blowing off the dust covering Emily’s

name.

“Rose, don’t push it. I’ve given you enough chances. Apologize now, or I’ll have no choice but to divorce you.”

I sneered, feeling the absurdity of his self–righteousness and the folly of my past.

My attitude ignited Jeffrey’s anger further. He stepped forward and swiftly snatched the death certificate from my

hands.

“I’m talking to you. Are you deaf?”
