Chapter Denial
Seeing all the blood and carnage has Erickson surprised, but excited. He never considered that things would turn out so perfectly, so soon. He needed this world to fall to ruins, so that he can rebuild it into the empire he has envisioned for the longest of times.
Though, one thing he did not factor into his plans, were the number of warriors and creatures to align themselves with his sons and their stupidity in trying to postpone the inevitable.
He can tell without even looking that a large majority of the torn up bodies belong to his men. And from the mind-links he’s been getting, it seems that his sons didn’t just come in a rampage, but with an actual game-plan.
Who am I kidding? This has Nick written all over it.
There are witches surrounding the building, preventing anyone who they consider an enemy from leaving. Lions are pushing through from the back, while majority of their fighters are fighting on the inside. All while their healers are waiting outside, ready to assist where they can.
Things aren’t looking good for Erickson, and he knows it.
He has no healers here. Saw no need for it. And he lost all contact to the cells. And now he's hearing news of the vampires having turned on him. And he can’t even keep track of the few witches he had on his side. It's liek they ran away.
But even in the face of uncertainty, Erickson smiles. He only feels such excitement in the middle of battle, and his life is being threatened. -And of course joined with the sensation of his self-centred ego believing he is the protagonist of this story, meant to survive beyond everything thrown at him.
In the midst of his fighting, he mind-links a few of his men to release the berserk creatures they have in his make-shift lab.
Yes, Alpha Erickson. But how many?
All of them.
…….All of them? He can hear the fear in the man’s voice.
All of them.
Erickson cuts the link, as he tries to focus on finding his sons in the chaos. He is eager to face them, to see if any of them has what it takes to kill him, or at least try.
He already knows of Maxim’s demise. He felt it the moment it happened. It saddened and disappointed him. But not because he died, rather because he didn’t think Maxim would be the first to die so pointlessly. He always thought it would be Anthony. In fact, he rather wished it.
In truth Erickson already knows who poses the biggest threat to him. And a twisted part of him wants that encounter to transpire.
But he can’t allow it now. Not now that Nicholas has a mate, and actually believes in something. All those of years he spent turning Nicholas into a better version of himself have all gone to waste because of Layla. And he knows, all he needs to do is take her away from Nicholas and all will fall back in place.
But all of that changed the closer Erickson got to her. Especially since she was so intertwined with all his plans from the very beginning. He has even convinced himself that it was meant to be. That he was meant to take her away from Nicholas, and also to have her all to himself.
He’s even willing to risk losing all his sons through this war. Especially now that he has a chance to restart it all.
I will finish this. Tonight. Besides. Tomorrow is the full moon. I won’t keep her waiting.
