Chapter 258 I Will Never Let Go in This Lifetime
Chapter 258 I Will Never Let Go in This Lifetime
Norah was taken aback. "Mat, this is too sudden. Can you give me some time to think about it?"
"Sure." Matthew nodded.
After pondering for a moment, Norah spoke, "Mat, I can go with you to see your mother. However, you will promise me that when she recovers, you will explain everything to her." "Yes, you can rest assured. You only need to visit her once. As for the rest, leave it to me." Matthew assured her.
"Okay."
"Then I'll pick you up after you finish work."
After reaching an agreement, Matthew left first, and Norah continued walking towards her office. However, after a few steps, her wrist suddenly tightened, and she felt a strong force.
"Mat, is there something else?" Norah asked without much thought, assuming he needed her help with something.
However, when she saw the face of the person who had grabbed her wrist, her words caught in her throat. It was none other than Shawn.
They had just parted ways when he was still angry. His wound had not healed yet. How could walk like this? When would his wound ever recover?
"You don't want to see me so much?" Shawn misunderstood her intentions, and his expression darkened.
"That's not what I meant," Norah explained.
"Then what do you mean? You don't care about me and what I do with other people at all? You couldn't wait to come down just to see Matthew?" Shawn's tone was cold.
Norah was speechless. She had intended to explain, but when she saw his cold and distant expression, she suddenly didn't know how to explain.
Even if she explained, he probably wouldn't believe her in this state.
"Shawn, I didn't... I didn't say I wanted to be with Mat. We're just friends," Norah finally managed to say.
Shawn snorted. "I heard it all. He confessed to you and asked you to be his girlfriend, and you agreed."
Norah was shocked, utterly bewildered. She couldn't believe her ears.
She was left speechless for a moment, and then she began to explain, "You misunderstood. Mat's mother is seriously ill, and she has always wanted him to get married and start a family. So he asked me if I could be his girlfriend just for once to visit his mother."
"In this way, his mother might feel better, and her condition might improve faster."
Even though it was true, Shawn still didn't look happy.
She was his wife and his girlfriend. Even if they had separated, he thought she belonged to him, Shawn.
Although this was just pretending to be Matthew's girlfriend and was not real, what if it happened again, and again, and again?
What if they spent more time together?
What if they developed feelings for each other over time?
So Shawn's expression didn't improve at all.
He suddenly reached out and grabbed Norah's wrist, pulling her along.
"Hey, Shawn, let go of me. Where are you taking me?"
Norah shouted, but Shawn seemed not to hear her. He kept pulling her forward.
"Slow down, Shawn. Your wounds haven't healed yet. If you keep walking like this, your wound will tear open and get infected again. The doctor warned you not to let it tear open again." Otherwise, it would be very troublesome.
However, Shawn quickened his pace and tightened his grip on her wrist. He dragged her into a stairwell and closed the door behind them.
In an instant, they were isolated in another world, with only the two of them inside.
The stairwell was dimly lit, with only a faint light shining through.
Inside, it was quiet and still, exceptionally peaceful.
"Shawn, what are you doing?" Norah began to ask, but her words were cut off when Shawn suddenly pushed her against the wall.
Norah's heart pounded, and she dared not lift her head. But Shawn's hand reached out and forcefully lifted her chin, forcing her to meet his gaze.
Then he spoke in a deep, low voice, "Let me walk slowly? Worried that my wound will tear open and get infected? Norah, are you still concerned about me?"
She bit her lip, remaining silent.
Of course, she was worried.
How could she not be worried?
"I know you still care about me," Shawn said, his voice low and deep.
But she didn't answer.
She cared about him.
But there was no need to express it anymore. She could keep it in her heart.
Seeing that she didn't respond, Shawn lost his patience.
Meanwhile, he was caught in a mixture of panic and anger.
His voice grew louder as he asked, "Norah, speak up. Tell me, do you still worry about me? Do you still care about me?"
He couldn't contain himself any longer. He reached out, gripping her shoulder with one hand and tilting her chin upward with the other. Then, he leaned down and forcefully claimed her lips in a passionate kiss. It was a stormy and intense kiss, devoid of any gentleness or restraint.
Norah tried to utter a word, but it was stifled by his demanding kiss. Her lips grew numb, and she found it hard to catch her breath.
Shawn showed no intention of letting her go; he kept her imprisoned within his embrace, dominating her completely. He didn't stop, and there was no intention of letting go.
"Shawn, let go of me." With a little space, Norah finally gasped for breath and shouted angrily.
But Shawn just curled his lips and grabbed her hand, pulling her into his arms.
With a forceful tone, he said, "Norah, you don't have to think about it. I will never let you go in this lifetime."
