Chapter 238 Shawn, I Knew All About It
Chapter 238 Shawn, I Knew All About It
When arriving at the hospital, Norah quickly changed her mood and went to work after getting dressed.
Norah kept telling herself that no matter how bad life was going, she must not let her emotions affect her work.
She could not be swayed by her personal emotions at work and must be a calm and responsible doctor.
She had just changed her clothes when she received a call that a patient with a cerebral hemorrhage had arrived and was in critical condition. Norah didn't hesitate for a second to run to help.
Because the patient was old and had complications, he was resuscitated for nearly ten hours.
No one of the medical workers had a bite to eat or a sip of water.
All of them stayed up.
When the operation was over, everyone was exhausted. The attending physician collapsed on the floor, leaning against the wall and panting heavily.
Though the patient was in a serious condition, he was rescued in time and only one of her legs was paralyzed.
The final result was not ideal, but it was the best possible outcome.
Norah, together with her colleagues, wheeled the patient out of the operating theatre. Just after leaving the operating theatre, everyone was very shocked.
As soon as the door to the operating theatre opened, an excited grey-haired man came tottering along.
With his eyes filled with tears, the man looked at his wife on the bed and grasped her hands tightly, "How are you? Does it hurt?"
Soon, their children learned from the doctor that one of their grandmother's legs would be paralyzed.
Upon hearing this, the old man instantly wiped his tears.
He bowed his head, took his wife's hand in front of everyone, kissed it cherishingly, and said seriously, "Don't worry, my wife. You took care of me when we were young. Now that you can't walk anymore, I'll take care of you instead."
"Although you always say I cannot do everything well, I will take good care of you. Don't worry."
"When you are well, we will go home. From now on I will be your leg, I will accompany you wherever you like to go."
After seeing the patient off to her ward, everyone sighed.
It was rare to see such a profound relationship.
Everyone was envious and touched.
Norah's eyes were wet.
She thought of Shawn.
It was an image she had thought of countless times in her mind, holding Shawn's hands and growing old with him.
With a sigh, Norah changed her clothes.
It was seven o'clock by the time she left the hospital gates.
It was cold outside, hurting like a knife on her body.
Norah's body was not healed, and with no food for a day, she was very weak now, but she had been holding strong in the operating room.
Now when the wind blew, she felt freezing and shivering.
Just then, a car pulled up in front of her.
The next moment, Shawn opened the car door and stepped out, taking her hand straight away, "Did you encounter something difficult today? You're a bit late from work." "Why are your hands so cold? Don't you wear enough clothes?"
Shawn led her to the car, and let the driver turn up the heat
Norah didn't answer him.
She was much calmer than he was in the morning.
But she didn't know how to talk to him yet.
After about a few minutes, her body warmed up a bit., Norah turned to look at him, "Shawn, I've known."
Norah was calm, "I know that you went abroad to meet with Lilian, and you brought her back to treat her leg. I've known what happened."
Norah expected her to be in pain, but it was surprisingly easier than ever to speak it out.
It was something that was finally no longer weighing on her heart like a huge mountain.
Shawn panicked. He leaned over and took Norah into his arms, "Norah, it's not what you think."
"Fine. Then tell me what it is?"
"I went abroad because of business. I met Lilian by chance. I didn't intend to meet her." Shawn said.
Norah smiled, "Since it was a coincidence, I won't say anything. You could just pass by like strangers and never get in touch with her again."
"But what did you do? You let her stay in your room and share a room with her. You brought her back. Shawn, have you forgotten? You promised me that you would never contact her again, and even if you me her, you would treat her like a stranger."
"But what did you do? What did you do?"
Norah tried to calm herself down, but with the words spoken out, she couldn't control herself.
Shawn hugged her hard, "Norah, I'm sorry. It's not what you think. I had a reason to do so." "Well, tell me why."
"Norah, I'm not lying about one thing. Lilian saved me when I was in danger when we were aboard."
"So what? Because she saved you, you're going to pick her up, hide her in your house and take care of her yourself? Shawn, why are you tangling with me when you've already figured out how to take care of her."
"You could have told me all about it. I'm not a stalker woman. If you had thought about being with her, I wouldn't have pestered you. I would have given you two to the chance to get together. But why did you lie to me?"
"Do you know how much I trusted you? And do you know how I felt when I found out that you had brought Lilian back? Shawn, you were poking knives in my heart. Do you know how much it hurt?"
Norah's tears fell.
But, she quickly reached up and immediately wiped the tears from her face.
This time, she didn't want Shawn to see her cry.
"Norah, I never wanted to be with her. I just wanted to thank her for saving my life, and I only agreed to treat her leg to make up for the debt and guilt in my heart. When she recovers, I will send her away myself."
"If that's the case, why can't you choose to tell me honestly and openly? In your mind, am I that mean?"
Norah tilted her head with mournful eyes, "Moreover, have you thought about what if the operation would not and her leg could not be cured? What are you going to do? Keep her and be with her all the time?" Shawn paused.
To be honest, all he could think about was that the operation would definitely be successful and then Lilian would leave the country. Then, he and Norah could be able to be together.
But he hadn't thought about what would happen if the operation failed and Lilian could never walk, or worse.
"In fact, there are obviously many ways you could take to thank her for saving your life. Giving her money and mansions, or getting her a doctor to fix her leg. I'm fine with all these methods."
"But why did you bring her back? Why did you make it up to her with the companionship of a man to a woman? Shawn, you knew exactly that she loved you, and you knew what your relationship used to be." "But, you still put her by your side. Late at night, you two who once loved each other shared a room. As your girlfriend, how do you make me feel when seeing your clothes smelling of her and bearing her lip prints?"
