Chapter 234 Lipstick Mark
Chapter 234 Lipstick Mark
"No, I don't agree." Lilian resisted violently.
Without listening to her words, Shawn said in a stern tone, "Lilian, listen up. I'm giving you two choices right now."
"First, listen to me and undergo surgery. Second, I will send you abroad immediately. And I will not compensate you for anything. You have three minutes to think about it." "No." Lilian shook her head and said, "I don't want to choose. None of it."
Shawn turned his back and looked out the window. He had a somber look in his eyes. His eyes were frighteningly cold.
There was not a hint of warmth in his eyes.
Outside the window, it was snowing heavily.
The whole city seemed to be wrapped in snow and turned white.
All Shawn could see was white too.
Just now, an image had been running through his mind. He thought of the reluctant look in Norah's eyes.
Norah had been so sad to see him walk away, but she had let go of his hand and told him to come back as soon as possible.
So, he had to settle everything with Lilian as soon as possible.
It was the only way he could do it without hurting Norah.
After a few minutes, Shawn turned to Lilian and said, "Have you thought about it? Which one do you choose?"
"Okay. I promise you I'll have the surgery as soon as possible."
Eventually, Lilian gave in.
"You promised me you'd visit me once a week. Just consider today your visit day. I'm hungry. How about you have some night snacks with me?"
Shawn lowered his eyes and nodded.
Soon, night snacks were brought in.
Lilian calmly picked up his chopsticks and took a few bites of the food.
Noticing that Shawn hadn't eaten anything, Lilian looked up and asked, "Aren't you going to eat?"
"I'm not hungry. Go ahead."
"Okay."
After finishing night snacks, Lilian looked at Shawn calmly and said, "Thank you for staying with me. As long as everything is right, I will cooperate with the doctor for the operation."
"I know your heart isn't here. You can't wait to get back. In that case, there's no point in me keeping you here. Just go away."
After saying that, she suddenly pushed her wheelchair toward Shawn and hugged him from behind.
Just as Shawn reached out to push her away, Lilian quickly let go of him and said, "Go away. I won't hold you back this time!" Shawn gave her a look and turned to leave.
By the time Shawn got out of the hospital, it was freezing outside.
It was late at night when he arrived at Norah's place.
The blanket was warm. He drifted off to sleep with her in his arms.
In the morning, Norah woke up in a warm embrace.
She put on a smile when she saw Shawn.
When he was still asleep, Norah cautiously got out of bed and went to the kitchen to cook ravioli for breakfast.
Although she was not good at cooking, she could still cook these quick meals.
Shawn woke up to the smell of food.
He reached out, but he didn't feel the soft body he thought he would. Then he immediately opened his eyes and walked out of the bedroom.
The two of them were halfway through breakfast when Anthony arrived with a pile of papers.
After breakfast, Norah had already sorted out the clothes he was going to wear.
Shawn said, "I'm not going to the office today. I'll stay home with you."
Norah walked up, hugged him gently, and said, "Shawn, I'm already happy that you feel that way. He must have had something important to ask you. I admit I'd like you to spend more time with me, but I don't want to keep you from your work either."
"And, what I want is a little more extravagant than a moment of companionship."
"How extravagant?" He asked with a serious look.
"I want you to be with me for the rest of my life."
"That's not extravagant enough." Shawn said, "Because I want to be with you forever and ever."
Shawn left and Norah took a break. Then, Norah went to wash a change of clothes for both of them.
Many of Shawn's clothes were expensive and hand-made, so Norah soaked them in warm water first.
If Norah hadn't washed his cloth herself, she would never hav expected to see lipstick marks on his clothes.
Norah's hands trembled violently when she saw the lip marks on the back of his clothes.
She stood there, and her mind went blank.
At that moment, she suddenly didn't know what she was going to think or what she was supposed to think.
She felt cold all over.
The windows were closed, and the room was airtight, but she felt the cold air rise up from her heart and take over her body little by little. Even though she had told herself over and over again that she had to be calm and not think about it, how could she not overthink?
It was as if there was an explanation for everything.
No wonder he was always traveling abroad these days.
No wonder he frowned sadly when he was with her, no matter how happy he was.
Someone had called him five times. He had even been called away by one last night.
Even when he got up in the morning, the woman's scent lingered on him.
Norah clutched at his clothes. She could no longer fool herself when she smelt the distinctive perfume of a woman on top of his clothes.
There had been clues.
Before, she had been too afraid to think about it and too reluctant to think about it.
But now, when it was all revealed and laid bare before her eyes, there was nothing to hide.
She was wrong. She was dead wrong.
It seemed that the frail female voice Norah had heard on the phone had been real!
So Shawn had lied to her.
He'd been lying to her so hard.
And she had been so foolish as to believe it.
"Norah, you're the dumbest fool in the world. You never had the slightest doubt about what he said. And yet, you were still deceived."
Squeezing his clothes, Norah couldn't laugh or cry.
She didn't know what she felt inside.
Was she supposed to feel bad and sad?
Or should she break down?
Suddenly, her heart sank.
She had thought that this was the happiest and most romantic time of her life. But it was all an illusion.
She had been fooled by him like a big joke.
"Shawn, how could you do this to me?"
"I trusted you so much. Why? Why did you lie to me?"
This time, she didn't cry.
After washing her face in cold water, she slapped her cheeks hard. Then, she made a phone call to Shawn.
The call came through quickly. Then Norah heard his exciting voice. "Norah!"
Norah was speechless.
But Norah was holding the phone. Her knuckles were almost white.
She was biting her lip and couldn't speak.
"Norah, is that you?" Shawn asked again.
Norah squeezed the phone tighter again. Layer after layer of fine sweat seeped from her palms. Then she took a deep breath and said, "It's me."
"Norah, is there something you want to see me about?" Shawn asked.
