Chapter 151
Chloe's POV
The moment I saw the same potion on Alpha Sabre’s hand, I immediately knew the other party's identity.
It was none other than Blake, my heart is sure!
The only thing that made me wonder was that, at this moment, I could not feel a hint of our mate bond for some reason. However, that question in my mind quickly changed when I saw what Alpha Sabre or rather, Blake did next.
Without hesitation, he took a knife and cut the palm of his hand so swiftly.
"What are you doing Blake!” The last bit of my rationality allowed me to send a mindlink directly to him clearly knowing what he is about to do next.
However my words of warning seemed to have not reached his ears as he did not even have second thoughts in pouring the poison directly in his hands.
“The poison is lethal! It could kill you within seconds!” Panic rushed over me because I knew how lethal the poison was as the creator myself.
Gasps were heard all around as all eyes were focused on Blake's bloodied hand as they visibly saw the wound stop bleeding in an instant.
“It immediately closes up the wound and is really perfect for a quick first aid during an ambush...” Blake as Alpha Sabre explained. “Too bad, if this potion allowed instant healing it would be ten times more precious than any potion I knew.”
Alpha Kain finally changed his expression as he sent the healers to check “Alpha Sabre’s’ would. The healers took a look and immediately confirmed that there were no traces of wounds in Blake's hand. Of course they could never trace it! The instant blood clotting of the wound was actually a side effect of the potion immediately attacking the veins and arteries of the victim until the poison reaches the heart! This poison could kill the victim within less than a minute!
"Hmm... it is, as you said, Alpha Sabre...” Alpha Kain finally looked at me and his hostile expression eased a little bit.
It seems like he had already given up the idea that our party was the one who poisoned the aides as he nonchalantly flicked his hand to give the small vial back.
But I was no longer in the mood to feel relieved! I know that it is a race against time, Blake might die within the next minute!
I tried sending another mindlink towards Blake but to no avail.
He was no longer responding and I could not even see the changes in his face due to his mask to gauge the gravity of the poisoning.
“Blake, you need to take the antidote!” I urged him once more, “I had it here, you must take it right away!”
As the seconds passed, the panic in my heart increased. More than the fact that he might die at any moment, a deep pain pierced my heart once more knowing that he did it to save me from the predicament.
Again, he had sacrificed himself without hesitation just for me.
A complicated feeling aroused within me, battling over the hurt and longing, deeply confusing what I should really feel at the moment.
All I know right now is that I do not want to see him gone.
“Blake, I have already lost a piece of me... Don't die!” No longer thinking about the contrasting emotions I battle with, I send him a message one last time.
"... don't worry... I won't die...” Suddenly I finally heard a reply toward me as I felt a warm gaze coming from his direction.
I stared at the spot where he stood blankly, trying to imagine the emotions he held behind his mask.
With only a few words, I somehow felt at ease, much to my own confusion and unwillingness.
I stood there as helpless as I was a few seconds ago. After five long years of trying to make myself indifferent of his existence, the mere thought of losing him has shaken my resolve to almost nothing.
"Stay there and don’t do something that would give you away...” His words once again came through.
“When the time comes... when you are ready... we will see each other again.” As soon as he said those words, Alpha Kain had already released an order to his men.
“Let's move on to the next...Servants, bring Alpha Sabre and his company to rest for a little while. The investigation would take long and so it might be inconvenient to them to watch this farce unfold.”
Without me giving my response, Alpha Kain's servants quickly lead the Frost Fang Pack at the lounge area. Before they fully disappear to my vision, Blake sends a mind link once more, “I have the antidote... in case you are still worrying.”
"Huh! I thought we were all goners!” Vanessa could not help but express her relief through the mindlink. “But Chloe, who could that Alpha Sabre be? Why does he have the same potion as yours?” “It's a long story..." I responded as I could not find the words right now to explain who Alpha Sabre was to them.
After that the crowd started to focus on the next set of people being questioned.
Just as expected, their efforts were futile as apart from the opportunity they just missed in pinning us as the culprit due to Blake's intervention, there were no other significant clues that could be found within the participants inside.
Moreover, us staying calm and collected even after almost “getting wrongly accused’ had further established our innocence of the matter.
Hours had passed and the more the questioning brought Alpha Kain negative results, the more his mood soured and filled with rage until even the interrogators themselves were now covered in cold sweats as they were afraid that he would explode in a killing rage at any time.
Just as we thought that the oppressive situation would not end, a group of people rushed to the hall and went to report to Alpha Kain immediately.
To my surprise however, the central figure of the group had made my heart grow in rage.
“Chloe... that person!!!” Vanessa quickly expressed her anger.
"Vanessa, keep your calm... Let's hold on a little more..." I answered as I gritted my teeth. Two of us knew this person very well.
From the time he attacked father up until now, we searched high and low to find where he was! The one responsible for our Father's death!
Our very own blood relative, my father's brother...Uncle Gauss!
As we were trying to contain ourselves, Uncle Gauss had already bowed respectfully to Alpha Kain and reported,
“My Lord... We were able to analyze the poison in the corpse's body and discovered something!”
Everyone held their breaths as we waited for Alpha Kain to respond, “Go on!”
“My Lord, the poison residue that we were able to extract clearly showed that the poison came from one and only source we all know..."
“The poison can only be made by the Blood Moon Pack!”
As soon as his words were uttered, everyone bursted in another heated discussion.
“That bastard! Chloe, he really did sell our Blood Moon Pack long before!” Vanessa was already fuming in anger.
I on the other hand became even more calm as the event unfolded, “It's fine... we have already achieved our objectives. We have finally announced the comeback of our Blood Moon Pack tonight!”
