Chapter 9
Chapter 9
His words shocked everyone présent.
The other three men looked at each other.
“Is he finally falling in love?” they thought.
Robert caught his hint and quickly echoed, “Carlos, you’re right. Your partner can only serve you. It’s not right for her to be ordered around by others. Teresa, come out. I’ll do it for you.”
Soon, everyone was seated.
Edith knew nothing about Texas Hold’em poker and was not quick with numbers. She didn’t even know how to calculate the winnings.
She didn’t even know how to play poker at all.
She was about to fold the card King of hearts when Carlos suddenly whispered in her ear, “Don’t do that. You will draw another King in the next round.”
When she heard this, she turned in surprise and almost kissed him. The near miss shocked her and she immediately shifted her body, but didn’t realize that she almost fell out of the chair. If he hadn’t held her in his arms quickly, she would have fallen to the ground!
“Be careful.” Seeing how adorable she looked when she was flustered, he could not help but tease her.
It was really interesting!
Edith quickly sat properly and pulled his hand away. She felt shameless as she was suddenly reminded that she was already a married woman.
She deliberately kept her distance and casually folded the car card.
The other three men just grinned and didn’t say anything.
That night, Carlos seemed to be particularly interested and that was a good sign!
In the next round, she did draw a King and thus, had a pair in her hands.
Perhaps it was because she was nervous, even though Carlos was a master at poker, she remained flustered and often made mistakes. Even he could not save her.
In the first round, she was the first player and lost miserably.
She still lost in the second round, because… she had an extra card on hand. She didn’t know how that happened.
In the third round, someone else won.
In the fourth round, Carlos went to the bathroom and she lost miserably again.
After the numerous rounds, she lost countless times.
She was sweating profusely from the anxiety.
Seeing her pale face, Robert couldn’t help laughing. “Do you know? We haven’t won from Carlos for many years. This is the first time!”
“Can… can I ask how big your bets are? How… how much did I lose?”
“It’s not a lot. If the first player won, it will be 2 million dollars, otherwise, it’s 200 thousand dollars. All in all, it is only about 200 to 400 million dollars!”
Edith was astounded!
“Isn’t that a lot of money?”

Chapter 9
She had lost so much in a short period of time. Although Carlos had said that he would be responsible for the game, she had lost too much!
She observed him gingerly and found that he was calm. It seemed that the astronomical sum was not a problem at all. He looked indifferent, which made her a little relieved.
He seemed to be a rich man.
Just as she was feeling at ease, Carlos spoke up.
A mellow and melodious voice sounded. “You’re quite good a squanderer.”
Edith blushed.
These words sounded so dubious as if she was a black sheep in his family.
The other three roared with laughter,
“This… this game is over. Can I go now?” she asked nervously, afraid that Carlos would hold her accountable.
“200 million dollars! I can’t pay it back even if I sell myself!” she thought.
