Chapter 62
Chapter 62
Edith was too weak to dodge. The man with tattoo was surrounded by his people, so she would die if she resisted.
Edith closed her eyes nervously but didn’t feel the expected pain. Instead, she was abruptly pulled behind someone by force.
Before Edith could open her eyes, she caught a whiff of a familiar smell, tears welling up in her eyes.
She knew that it was Johann without even opening her eyes.
Johann stood in front of Edith, unafraid of the man with tattoo at all. He said firmly, “If any of you dare to hurt her, I’ll fight you to the death today!”
Hearing this, the man with tattoo couldn’t help frowning and said unhappily, “Isn’t this Mr. Davis, who just got married? She seems not to be your wife. It’s inappropriate for you to protect her like this, isn’t it?”
“She’s my fiancée!” Johann blurted out.
Hearing his words, everyone burst into laughter.
“You’re married and got a fiancée. Mr. Davis, you’re greedy!”
That was when Vanessa hurried over. She couldn’t stop Johann and failed to catch up with him even though she ran all the
way.
When she heard Johann’s words, her face turned livid.
But at this moment, Edith was shrinking in Johann’s arms as if she was in a daze, which made Vanessa angrier.
Vanessa stepped forward with a smile and said nice words to persuade the man with tattoo.
Amused by her sweet talk, the man was in a much better mood and looked at Johann sarcastically. “Mr. Davis, your wife is better with people than you. I don’t want to fight today, so I’ll let you go.”
After that, he turned to leave.
Johann didn’t care about what the man with tattoo said at all. He looked at Edith’s pale face anxiously and asked worriedly. “Edith, are you all right? Did they scare you?”
Hearing this. Vanessa was so angry that her face turned red. She pulled Johann and Edith onto the empty deck.
The sea was enveloped in darkness, but the deck was brightly lit.
Vanessa couldn’t stand it anymore and was about to give Edith a hard slap. But Johann reacted quickly and without thinking. blocked it with his body.
In the end, Vanessa’s hand came on Johann.
“Johann!”
“Johann!”
Edith and Vanessa exclaimed.
However, Johann seemed to have only heard Edith’s voice. He smiled at her and shook his head. “It doesn’t hurt, not at all. Are you okay? Sorry… I was late. I should have come earlier. It’s my fault…
Hearing this, Edith felt sad. She had cut off all ties with him and it was impossible for them to be together anymore. But when seeing how he risked his life to save her, she couldn’t help feeling touched.

Chapter 62
After all, they had been in love for many years and endured the pain of four–year long–distance relationship. But in the end, they married someone else. It was indeed a twist of fate.
Edith looked into Johann’s eyes in which there was a firm look she had never seen before.
He was determined to protect her.
He was sure he was capable and responsible.
He had made up his mind to do whatever he could to protect her!
Edith had never seen all this before.
Johann was kind–hearted and would waver for everyone. He did love Edith, but he could easily yield to temptation because of his character. Now, he stood the test, but wouldn’t it be too late?
They had their own life partners and couldn’t be together!
Edith took a deep breath, clenched her fists tightly, and said, “It’s not your fault. No matter what happens to me now, it has nothing to do with you. You and Vanessa just got married but always showed up together. It seems that you have a good relationship. I wish you a happy marriage.”
After saying that, she turned and left, but Johann didn’t want to give up. However, Vanessa grabbed his hand tightly to stop him and even stood on the edge of the fence to threaten him with her life.
In the end, the sound of their argument grew fainter and fainter, and Johann’s footsteps also receded.
Sure enough, his heart relented.
Vanessa seemed to know Johann’s weak spot, telling Edith that she had countless ways to get him back.
Edith’s heart still ached, but she was no longer as desperate and depressed as before.
In the dark night, a drop of tear fell silently.
