Chapter 24
Chapter 24
Edith stood there dejectedly, thinking that she was finished.
She was penniless, and it would take more than an hour to get to the villa. She wondered if she had to walk back.
Edith felt Carlos was so petty.
But before she could go far, the secretary caught up with her. He took out 100 dollars from his bag and stuffed it into Edith’s hand.
Edith was extremely surprised and thanked him profusely. She asked for his phone number so that she could contact him later to pay back the money.
Sam left with embarrassment.
He returned to the car and glanced at the person in the back seat. If not for Carlos‘ tacit consent, Sam wouldn’t have dared to send the money over.
Sam thought, “In fact, Mr. Lawson is not that cruel, is he?”
Edith hesitated for a moment, but in the end, she decided to take a taxi home. She couldn’t let Susan worry about her.
She charged her phone, turned it on, and saw many text messages from Johann, asking her where she was and what had happened.
The more Edith read, the sadder she felt.
She wondered why she and Johann had ended up like this.
Edith hesitated for a moment before writing a text message.
“Johann, it’s over between us. 1. hope you and Vanessa will be happy together.”
But after typing, Edith deleted them word by word. She couldn’t bless him and another woman. Moreover, that woman was Edith’s cousin.
In the end, Edith shook her head bitterly and put her phone aside, slowly falling asleep.
However, the night was not peaceful.
The next morning, Susan told Edith that Lawson Jr. had come back last night, but he left because he didn’t see Edith.
When Edith heard the news, her heart skipped a beat. She was glad that she had escaped.
She hoped there would be such an opportunity next time.
At noon, Edith went to see Sam. He was in the billiards room on the 18th floor of Waton Building. It seemed that Sam was there to accompany Carlos.
Edith took the elevator and soon arrived at the entrance of the billiards room.
There were very few people playing billiards inside, so Edith saw Sam in the corner at a glance. He was standing by the billiards table with a document in his hand.
Carlos was sitting on the sofa with his eyes closed and his forehead against his hand on the back of the sofa. His legs were gracefully crossed. His posture was lazy, graceful. He looked unapproachable.
Someone was playing billiards. It was a slightly fat man.
Edith did not step forward to disturb them and instead waited at the door.
Sharon Fisher, a real estate tycoon, said with a smile, “Mr. Lawson, you’re really greedy. You want the most prosperous piece of land in Soumond District, and the profit you offer is the lowest. You’re making things difficult for me.”

Chapter 24
Tue,
“Do you mean that you don’t want to cooperate with me?”
Carlos opened his eyes slightly with a faint smile on his face.
Although it was a smile, it made others feel scared.
Sharon’s heart trembled slightly, but he pretended to be calm.
“In fact, I can sell it to you, but as for the price… Alas, I don’t lack money. I’ll do you a favor. Why don’t we have a billiards game to decide whether I’ll sell it to you or accept the highest offer?”
“How do you want to play it?”
“Everyone knows of your billiards skills. It is not a good idea for me to play against you. How about this? If you lose, I will sell the land to you. If you win, then… forget it.”
Sharon said with a grin.
If he defeated Carlos, it would damage Carlos‘ reputation and even boost Sharon’s prestige.
In this way, Sharon would do Carlos a favor and get more contracts. That was killing two birds with one stone.
Sharon wanted to take Carlos down a peg.
Sam immediately looked at Carlos in embarrassment. Sam understood Sharon’s intention.
Sam said, “I’m afraid it’ll be very difficult for Mr. Lawson to lose. How about I play against you?”
“Mr. Faris, you must be joking. You’ve been with Mr. Lawson all the time. How can your billiards skills be bad?”
“But…” Sam wanted to say something else, but he didn’t expect that Carlos would say lightly, “It’s a good game, but Sam is right. My billiards skills are very good, so it’s difficult for me to lose. Why don’t we find someone to play on my behalf? No matter who wins, we are friends.”
When he said the last sentence, Carlos‘ voice was slightly cold.
Carlos was giving Sharon an out. If Sharon embarrassed Carlos, Sharon would lose miserably.
Sharon smiled, rubbed his nose, and agreed.
“Who do you want to play on your behalf?”
Carlos glanced around and was surprised to see Edith.
He wondered, “Why is she here?”

Carlos waved at Edith.
Edith saw him sitting on the sofa. Carlos raised his eyebrows slightly and waved his hand as if he were beckoning to a dog.
She gritted her teeth and felt a little angry, but when she thought of the huge debt of 20 thousand dollars, she had to come over.
“What’s the matter?”
“Do you know how to play billiards?” Carlos asked.
