Chapter 19 

When Edith was in the hospital, she had been uneasy and worried about the 20 thousand dollars. She had left her business card when she sent the clothes last time. If that petty devil investigated, he would definitely know where she worked. 

It was really not worth it to cause a civil dispute for 20 thousand dollars. 

She was just an intern, and could barely support herself. She had almost no extra spare money. Now the only way was to do more part–time jobs. 

Sarah introduced her to a high–end theme bar to work as a waiter. The environment was clean and there were no troublemakers. She had to go there at seven o’clock every night and didn’t go home until eleven o’clock. 

In order to save money to buy a house, Sarah worked part–time with her. 

“Edith, do you think men are reliable? Just now, there was a young couple quarreling in the corner. That man was so immoral that he hit that girl. I was dumbfounded!” 

“Of course, there are good men. Maybe we’re unlucky and can’t meet them.” She smiled faintly and didn’t comment too much. 

Sarah rolled her eyes. “Isn’t your fiance great? To prevent you from running away, he ignored his family’s opposition and got engaged to you before you going abroad. The Davis family is a first–class wealthy family, and you are about to become a rich wife. Why are you still working so hard?” 

Hearing this, Edith felt a sharp pain in her heart, as if she had difficulty breathing. 

All the blood in her body seemed to have been drained, and her face turned pale. 

Only then did Sarah realize that something was wrong. They had been working together for so long, but she hadn’t mentioned her fiance recently. 

Could it be that… something unexpected has occurred? 

She had asked Edith before, but the latter avoided it. She had thought that the couple just had a quarrel and would get better in a few days, but now she realized that things were not that simple. 

“Did I… say something wrong?” Sarah asked in embarrassment. 

“It’s nothing. I’m done with him.” 

“Edith, guests at table three want to order some wine. Go and have a look,” the manager shouted at her. 

She adjusted her mood, took the opportunity to escape from the topic and went forward with the drink list. 

The table three was a semi–encircled booth located in the middle of the hall, which was suitable for many people to get together., 

At this moment, there were cheers and laughter. 

“Vanessa, congratulations! You’ve finally won your Prince Charming and forced your shameless cousin to leave! How could she be so shameless as to snatch your man away from you? She’s living off your family, yet she still dares to dream of snatching someone from you? She’s really overestimating herself!” 

“Of course! Our family is a noble family. The Meyer family is famous in Caurtine and is well–matched with the Davis family. You should know that you are the real daughter of a rich family. Who does your cousin think she is?” 

“When are you getting married? Remember to treat me to a drink!” 

As Edith approached, she heard those words. 

She had never expected that it would be Vanessa sitting here. 

She had seen these people before at the family banquet. She felt that they were quite friendly before, but she didn’t expect them to be like this behind 

her back! 

Chapter 19 

She stiffened and did not move forward 

Unexpectedly, the colleague behind her bumped into her and looked a little unhappy. “Why don’t you go over? Can’t you see that how busy we are?” 

Her voice was a little loud, which attracted the attention of Vanessa and the others. 

When Vanessa met her eyes, she was briefly stunned before she quickly regained her composure 

“Edith, why are you here?” 

Her voice was delicate, giving people a feeling of weakness. 

Their facial features were similar, but their temperaments were very different. Edith’s temperament was more mature and indifferent, while Vanessa was like a child who hadn’t grown up and needed someone to take care of her. 

Johann liked to compare the two of them. Although Edith didn’t like it, it was understandable. 

After all, they were cousins. 

In addition, the Meyer Family had raised her for more than 20 years. From beginning to end, she felt that she owed this family. 

But now, she had used her marriage and lifelong happiness to pay off the debt. It was enough!
