Chapter 135 

“You’ll only be nobler than her in the future, okay? You don’t need to care about anyone else but me.” 

The man said word by word as if he was preaching, his gaze intent. She could drown in his eyes. 

She quickly composed herself as her heart slightly trembled. 

Why was he so sure? Was he really planning to live with her for the rest of his life? 

She didn’t dare to picture it anymore and quickly buried herself in eating. 

Seeing her avoiding his gaze, Carlos was slightly disappointed. However, he also knew that kind of thing could not be rushed. She had just gone through a toxic relationship and still needed time. 

She could take her time, but from then on, she could only love him alone! 

When they were almost done eating, she went to the bathroom. 

When she washed her hands, she happened to meet Meggie, who was reapplying her lipstick in front of the mirror.

Meggie clicked her lipstick shut and smiled at Edith. “We’ve met again. You’re Edith, am I right?”

“Carlos is nice and doesn’t want to complicate things, but, I can’t help wondering if you released the news. The Twitter account and IP address are both traced back to you. So don’t think my fans hurt you because you hurt their idol, me, first. I want to ask you if it’s worth it to shamelessly try to hook up with Carlos. 

She crossed her arms in front of her chest. She was no longer as gentle as before and even a little aggressive. 

Edith immediately waved her hands to explain. “No, Miss Huffam, you’ve misunderstood. It wasn’t me, and Carlos believed 

me too.” 

“You’re naive to think you can fool Carlos. So you’re saying I set you up? I grew up with him. We only stopped living under the same roof a few years ago. Who are you to him? And, let me tell you this, Carlos has something he likes. Have you ever heard of Natalie Huffam?” 

“Natalie Huffam?” The name didn’t ring a bell to Edith. 

Meggie couldn’t help laughing seeing her confusion. 

“He didn’t tell you about her? You aren’t close, I guess. Look, if there’s really someone in his heart, that’ll be my sister Natalie. I heard he left the cafe halfway last time. It was because he saw Natalie. He dumped you to keep her company for a whole day. 

Edith’s body trembled violently. 

She never thought he left her that day for another woman. 

She was all alone that day, until midnight. 

Wait, she suddenly thought of something. 

“Is Natalie… that innocent–looking girl with Bambi eyes?” 

“You’ve seen my sister before?” Meggie asked in surprise.

Edith then was sure the girl in the supermarket at that time was Natalie Huffam.

Carlos looked at the girl was so gentle that Edith never found him caring about herself like that before. 

So… that was Meggie’s sister. 

Sure enough, they were both pretty! 

“Since he loves your sister, why… why is he still seeing me?” 

“Seeing you? Don’t make me laugh. He’s your senior. It’s you having an affair and embarrassing Carlos! You think he likes you? Well, he probably just hangs out with you because you look a little bit like Natalie. 

“No one loves my sister more than him, and I’m his most beloved younger sister. So do you still think you have a chance 

with him:” 

Meggie was completely being sarcastic, no longer gentle at all. 

Edith trembled and had a lump in her throat. 

She wanted to refute Meggie’s accusation but couldn’t say a single word as if she didn’t have anything to say in the first place. 

She turned around and left, not caring about how embarrassed she looked. 

Meggie smiled smugly at Edith’s back. 

“Hmph, she doesn’t know her place. She should be grateful for marrying into the Lawson family, and now she wants to steal Carlos! Oh my!” 

She had a final touch on her lips, blossoming like a flower. 

The louder a flower looked, the deathlier it was. 

Carlos waited for Edith for a long time. Finally, he couldn’t help but worry. 

He darted into the ladies. 

The women were all scared and screamed. 

A waiter rushed over to check but couldn’t make a sound seeing Carlos. 

He had heard from his manager that that man couldn’t be trifled with. 

Therefore, he swallowed and asked, “Mr. Lawson, is there anything you need?” 

“Where’s the girl who was with me? Where did she go?” 

Carlos squinted his attractive eyes, looking ferocious all over him. 

He had checked all the cubicles inside but found no trace of Edith. 

Where else could she be? 

Hearing this, the waiter remembered something and hurriedly answered, “Oh, the lady with you just left. She seemed to be crying when she left. I thought you…” 

“Why did she leave?” 

“I… I don’t know, but I can check the surveillance footage for you…” the waiter quickly added seeing Carlos‘ gloomy face.

Soon, they obtained the video. Soon after Edith entered the bathroom, Meggie walked in and cleared the room. 

They couldn’t know what happened inside, but they saw Edith leaving in tears and Meggie walking out finally looking composed. 

Carlos‘ eyes instantly narrowed, a storm brewing in them. 

Meggie must have said something nasty to Edith! 

Then, he strode to Meggie who was talking merrily with her director Kevin. 

Kevin was well–behaved, not fantasizing about the woman at all. 

He had heard about her strong background and decided not to ruin his career for his lust. 

However, he didn’t expect someone to shove him away in the middle of the talk!
