Chapter 4: A Seven-Year Love
Suddenly, Henry strode over to Luz.
"What do you want?"
Logan glared at him fiercely and held on to his mother's hand.
"Don't bully my mommy!"
This strange man's expression was cold and scary, as if he wanted to eat his mother.
"I just need to talk to your mother," Henry said told him without taking his eyes off Luz. Then he tilted his head as if he had just thought of something, and turned to Declan.
"Mr. Carver, you don't mind, do you?" His voice was as cold as ice.
"I..." Declan didn't know what to say.
Everyone in North City knew the name, Henry Maynard. He represented authority and status.
As for Declan Carver, he was just a general manager in a second-rate company. He did not have the power to fight against Henry.
"Of course not." He concessed with a elegant smile.
Henry snorted disdainfully and turned back to Luz.
He was tall and exuded a chilly aura. With every step of his approach, Luz felt even more flustered.
When she tried to lower her head out of nervousness, he suddenly lowered himself and said into her ear, "Luz Boone, do you know what I swore to myself the day you left me?"
Her heart jumped. She raised her head and saw that his thin lips were curled up even more.
However, little Logan was not happy to see them in this intimate position. He widened his eyes and tried his best to glare at Henry.
"Why did they have to whisper into each other's ears?" he thought. "Something fishy is going on!"
Even though this man looked very similar to him, the good impression he had just developed had disappeared!
"I swore to never see" He tilted his head and his breath fell on her cheeks. "Your face."
Henry's voice was so low only Luz could hear it.
Her heart pounded as he straightened and looked at her coldly. "I hope this is the last time."
As soon as he finished speaking, Emily quickly followed him in her high heels and called his name.
Luz's attention was completely attracted by this intimate way of address. By the time she realized what was going on, Henry had already strode away from her heartlessly.
"Luz, are you okay?" Declan reached out and steadied her as she swayed on her feet. "Do you know Henry Maynard?"
His tone was more of a statement than a question. Henry Maynard was infamous for his indifference. He would never talk to people he did not know.
If Henry Maynard spoke to her so intimately, they must have some kind of relationship.
"What did he say to you?" Declan continued to ask.
"Nothing." Shaking her head, she took a deep breath. When she turned around, she saw Logan looking at Henry's retreating back thoughtfully with a hand under his chin. "Mommy, that man really looks like me!"
Logan was still thinking about this problem, and it was obvious that there was some connection between this man and his mommy.
"Is he my father?" He asked in confusion.
"Logan!" Luz stopped him.
Facing Declan's slightly suspicious gaze, she pretended to be relaxed and smiled. "Declan, it's not like that."
At night, the royal-blue BMW SUV slowly stopped at the main entrance of the Boone residence.0000
