Evil Angels

Chapter 12

Alexandra’s POV

How did I not hear her?!

I knew something was off.

I should have been more observant.

I stood over the girl’s body, trying to figure out what to do.

She just fainted. Maybe she will wake up and forget everything.

But, how much did she see?

I knelt down and gently rolled her over, glancing at her name tag attached to her apron.

Emma.

She works here. Fuck I am going to have to move his body now or they will wonder where she was when he died.

I turned into my human and left her there then went over to Mr. Brown, picking him out and taking him outside. I noticed there was a small car parked outside and I dug through his pockets to find the keys. I unlocked the car, opening the door then gently laid him outside of it, to look like he died out here.

Now to deal with the girl… where should I even put her?

“Fledgling, what is taking so long? I thought it was going to be quick.”

Oh shit… Larus.

“Umm… I kind of have a problem. A girl spotted me in my evil form and now she has passed out on the ground.”

“I am coming now.”

I went back inside and paced around next to her body. Then a few minutes later Larus came in the door, “Fledgling!”

I stopped my pacing, “Larus! I am so sorry. I swear I didn’t hear anyone else here.”

He shook his head, “It’s not your fault. I have had a few mistakes myself… so, Emma saw you?”

“Yes, I didn’t know what or how much she saw but she definitely saw my evil… How do you know her name?”

“She lives in the cabin down the mountain from us.”

He rubbed behind his horns, “This is what you are going to do…. Take her to her cabin and stay with her until she wakes up. If she wakes up and doesn’t remember anything, good. If she remembers, just deny everything. Our existence stays a secret.”

I nodded, “Got it. What are we going to do about the store? There is a dead guy in the parking lot.”

Larus nodded, “I will take care of that… I believe her truck is out back. You should get moving.”

I nodded and picked her up into my arms.

Hopefully this goes well.

I found the truck keys in her apron and put her in the passenger’s seat. I jumped into the drivers side.

I haven’t driven in awhile. Hopefully she stays out the whole drive.

The drive took almost twenty minutes which I hated having to sit in such a small place.

Flying is so much better.

Luckily, she was still out so I pulled her out of the car and took her into the cabin. Inside was small but still comfortable. Her living room was connected to the kitchen and her bedroom was in the back. I laid her down on her bed and stood back. I gently removed her apron and draped it over a chair in the corner then stood back at the side of the bed. I turned on the lamp, illuminating her wavy, golden brown and blonde hair. I listened into her heartbeat and her blood flowing through her body. The sound of it all was claiming my nerves. That is until her green eyes shot open staring me down.

Time to see what she knows.

She sat up immediately staring me down, “What happened?”

I took a step back, giving her some space, “I was in the shop and you passed out when you were helping me. So, I drove you here.”

She thought over what I said for a moment then shook her head, “No… you were kneeling by Mr. Brown… You had wings and horns and a tail! What are you?”

Damn it. She remembers everything.

I laughed, “Did you hit your head or something? Does it look like I have any of those things?”

She looked me over, “You grew them when you stood up. I don’t know how you did it but you did.”

Just keep denying it and get out of here.

I shook my head, “You must be crazy… Anyways, it’s getting late. I have to go.”

I turned to leave, almost making it to the doorway.

“You have red eyes.”

I turned back to her, “So?”

She stood up, “Humans don’t have red eyes. I saw them when you went in the cafe and I saw them at the store. You can probably trick people by saying it’s the lighting or they are just a shade of brown. But, I know you are not a normal human.”

I laughed again, “If I am not a normal human. Then what am I?”

Her eyes grew wide, “You are evil! You killed Mr. Brown! How could have I forgotten that!”

I gritted my teeth, “I did not kill him. He had a heart attack and I was there to comfort him. You must be misremembering.”

She did get the evil part right though.

She shook her head, “I am not misremembering. I know what I saw. I can report you!”

“Oh yeah and who are they going to believe? A girl that says she saw someone with wings and horns kill someone or the girl who says she watched a man having a heart attack and tried to help him… Listen, you passed out and I helped you get back home. Now I have to leave so goodbye.”

Before she could say anything else, I slipped out of her room and outside of the cabin. I made sure she wasn’t following me before I turned into my evil and flew out of there.

Humans, always so annoying with their questions.
