Chapter 30: He Had No Reason to Lie to Her
Felicity was a little startled, and her head was a little muddled.
"You're... the product director of the overseas department?"
Felicity was still a little unconvinced.
"I am, what can I help you with?"
The young man nodded, he thought Felicity was strange.
Felicity frowned, looking at the young man with seeming conviction, and asked, "Do you have another product director here?"
"No..."
The young man also frowned, feeling very strange towards Felicity' question.
"There really isn't one? Someone named Jason."
Felicity simply told the name as well.
"Sorry, the company doesn't have this person."
The young man said without any hesitation.
He hadn't even heard of the name before.
"That's...impossible, Even Mr. George Green said there is one, and it's a recent hire."
Felicity even wondered if there was something wrong with her hearing, or if she was dreaming now.
"Uh, have you mistaken something? Why don't you go out and ask again, I've never heard of the name anyway."
The young man was very confused and wanted to send Felicity away.
"Okay, I'll go ask again, sorry for bothering you."
Felicity apologized and went out right after.
After leaving the overseas department, Felicity was full of doubts. She originally wanted to find Jason and invite him to dinner, giving him a surprise.
But the plan failed. She was afraid that Jason had other plans, so she sent him a WeChat message, "Are you free tonight? I will like to treat you to dinner as a thank you for today."
After sending out the message, Felicity was apprehensive for a little while, afraid that Jason would not accept the invite.
After waiting for about two to three minutes, Jason replied. When Felicity heard her phone vibrate, she excitedly took it out to see.
"Okay, where?" Jason agreed.
Felicity was so happy that her hands were shaking a little, she replied, "You decide."
"How about Phiss Restaurant?"
"Okay, so I'll see you at seven?"
"Yup."
After making an appointment, Felicity finally got a chance to thank her benefactor. She was prepared to leave the company without thinking too much about what just happened. As soon as she arrived at the elevator, she met George Green.
"Good evening, Mr. Green."
Felicity gave a bow in greeting.
"Felice, off work, huh? Come in."
George nodded, returning the greeting politely.
"Okay, thank you Mr. Green."
Felicity got into the elevator, remembering again what she had just experienced, she wanted to ask but hesitated.
"Is there something you want to say? Just say it."
George felt that Felicity had something to say.
"Here's the thing, I went to the overseas department today to look for Jason, but he doesn't seem to be there..."
Since Mr. Green had asked, Felicity decided to voiced her doubts.
Upon hearing that, George felt a little awkward, he didn't expect that Felicity would go to the overseas department herself.
He didn't think there was any connection between her department and the overseas department, but who would have thought this would happen.
"Felice, it's like this... Jason... Reed has been transferred away and is temporarily assigned to another branch."
George tried to remain calm and natural as he explained to Felicity.
"Ah, he's been transferred again?"
Felicity was sceptical. Why was the shift shifting so fast?
"Well, yes, the branch over there needed more manpower for now, so he was sent over there." George explained.
"Oh, that's why I didn't find him, so that's what happened, thank you."
Since the general manager had said so, Felicity did not need to continue asking questions, so she pretended to understand. "No problem," George was very anxious, but he was able to deal with her.
At 7:00 p.m., Felicity went to Phiss Restaurant promptly.
She had never been to this restaurant before, as the location was chosen by Jason, this was her first time coming.
Once inside, the waitress greeted her warmly, "Hello Miss, how many?"
"Two, I have an appointment and he said he's already here," Felicity said.
"Is it Mr. Jason Reed?", The waiter asked with a smile.
"Yes, that's him!"
Felicity answered. The waiter is quite smart.
The waiter then thoughtfully brought her over to Jason.
As Felicity walked, she observed the environment of this restaurant, every facility looked very sophisticated, it must be a very high-end western restaurant.
"You're here so early, how long have you been waiting?"
Seeing that Jason was already sitting there, Felicity asked embarrassedly.
She invited him to dinner but let him sat here for so long.
"Not too long, let's order."
Jason gentlemanly handed the menu to Felicity.
"I've never been here before, if you're more familiar, you do the order!"
Felicity seldom ate at in western restaurants and was not familiar with their food, so she handed the menu back to Jason.
"Fine." Jason didn't refuse and started ordering straight away.
Jason ordered skillfully, he was obviously a veteran.
After ordering, the waiter gave them the bill.
In fact, Felicity was ready to spend a lot of money here. This place looked so high-class, each person may need several hundred on average, but at most three hundred should be enough. Who knew that the moment she saw the bill, Felicity was shocked.
One thousand and two hundred? One thousand and two hundred CNY for a meal of two persons?
This was enough to pay for Felicity' living expenses for a month in university, she almost shed a tear.
But the portions were small, nothing more than some wine, steak, pasta and other western food. However, the price of each dish was very high.
But still, Felicity was speechless, "Can't you restrain yourself? I'm just a very poor intern, and I'm buying you dinner, won't you feel a bit sorry to me?"
Felicity was straightforward and said what she wanted to say. After all, it was really out of her budget.
After this meal, she was afraid that her bank card will significantly shrink!
"I've helped you so much and you're still so stingy?"
Jason said with a half-smile.
This sentence made Felicity speechless, she did not know what to say.
After all, Jason also paid for her mother's hospital bill, so she could just accept it...
"Alright, then we must finish these."
Since Felicity spent so much, she wanted to make sure it was worth it.
"I'll stop when I'm done eating, do as you like."
Jason didn't have this habit.
Felicity was speechless again, this man doesn't cherish food at all.
During their meal, they didn't talk much. Jason's eating was particularly elegant and very refined, which gave an indescribable temperament.
Instead, Felicity was quite rusty with her fork and knife. She ate a bit of a mess, but it was pretty cute too.
Seeing Jason so good at these, like someone who often came to this kind of high-end restaurant, Felicity couldn't help but wanted to ask him about his work.
But she did not ask him anyway, since there was no reason for the general manager to lie to her.☐☐☐☐☐☐☐☐
