Dweller

Chapter 29

My eyes opened the bright light of the lanturn still on. I looked around seeing the scattered bones all over the place. It looked like an animal lived here, well I felt like one and still do. I feel little emotions of what's happening to those long dead.

“Do you want to live or die now? Just a yes or no question, don’t need anything else.” I say speaking blankly. Looking up at the ceiling.

“No..” Said a frail voice barely above a whisper. If I didn't know she was there I wouldn’t have heard it.

“Ok tell me when you change your mind. Because you're never leaving this cave ever again. Nor will that door ever open.” I plainly state.

Soft sobbing can be heard. However I really couldn’t care about the waste of perfectly good water. Oh well not my problem.

_________

“OH.. PLEASE STOP ITTTT.” I yell. This girl has been crying for hours. She won’t stop! How does someone even have so many tears!

“IS there ANYWAY to make you stop!” I have a growing headache. I hear rustling around the room as she gets up and makes her way towards me still crying.

She approaches me and crawls up into my side like it's going to shield her from the world. But luckily she does stop crying. She curls up and rests her head on my knee. I rested my hand on her head, not going to give her any more confort.

______

“MA’AM… please wake up…!”

UGHHH no more crying… I’m seriously going to start to hate this whole tear thing.

“WHATTTT.. I’m up to what you need! You said you would stop crying!”

“I’m sorry.. I got scared you weren’t waking up after so long…”

Really this child woke me up for this? “Yes I was sleeping, something you should be doing.”

“But you were sleeping for a long time..”

“Well duh? I don’t have any energy.. And I’m dying so yaaa. That's what happened.”

“You're dying! Why?”

I took a deep breath trying to calm before I exploded in her face “Hunny take a look at me. I haven’t eaten actual food in who knows how long. My face is sunken in and I can barely have enough energy to run around. So duh I’m dieing”

“Oh..” Was her only response before she once again put her head on my knee.

I shut my eyes, resting my head back, when I hear her start to hum a song. The song has a calming sound and is quite reflexive. I fall asleep once again to the calming sound of her song.

A bright light shines straight at me. For some reason me eyes don’t open. They feel like the are glued shut. A warm feeling surrounds me, It feels like I was getting healed, my body became light, all of the pain and misery that I had felt was gone. Warmth took hold of my body. I flet like I was flying as warm air surrounds me fully welcoming.

So is this what death feels like?
