Chapter 20: Shooting Shots
The next 2 days saw things getting back to normal except for the situation with Victoria and their marriage itself. Andrea noticed that Jay smiled and kissed her more but they felt hollow, like a chore...and even sex felt as if he didn't want to be there...she knew he was there physically but his mind was elsewhere. Andrea decided to go to her mother's house and figure out what she should do. when she arrived and talked to Julie, she shook her head and said "you're really in a pickle here but I have two words for you...Grand gesture". Andrea looked at her confused and said "what?" and Julie said, "you're gonna have to do something big for him that you've never done before and hopefully him seeing you go out of your way will prove to him you really do want to move past this mess". Andrea smiled and said "you're right, thanks mom I love you " before hugging her and darting out the door.
Andrea snapped and teleported herself home and went to her office after making sure Jay was at work and Victoria was taken care of. After an hour or two, Andrea came out of her office and started to transform their beautiful backyard into a Hawaiian-themed party with beautiful tiki torches, just the way Jay did...her plan was to take him down memory lane, before her final gesture. After making the final preparations, she had her mother take Victoria but before she let her get in the car she said: "Victoria be a good girl...I'm sorry you can't join us but mommy has to fix things with daddy". Victoria smiled and said, "I understand mommy, daddy has been unhappy lately, he cries in his office late at night when I get up to use the bathroom". Andrea hugged Victoria and said "I'm going to fix that sweetie, I'll see you tomorrow" before she put her in her mom's car and went back inside.
Meanwhile, at work, Jay was finishing up the last of his paperwork and preparing to head home and work more tonight since his wife didn't seem to love him anymore. After packing, he snapped his fingers and teleported home. He opened the door and made a beeline to his office and closed the door but fortunately, Andrea was 3 steps ahead of him. As he turned around, his jaw dropped at the sight of his wife standing there in a white lace dress. Before he could speak, she smiled and opened up a ring box and said "all I'm asking is one date night...if I can steal your heart again you have to completely forgive and forget...If I don't then I'll be the one to leave until you decide you want me around again". Jay paused and stared at the beautiful Rolex watch for a few minutes, before taking it, putting it on, and saying" I will give you a chance tonight".
Andrea smiled and said "good" before walking with jay out to her new car. After warming it up, they took off and drove all the way to the bowling alley and pulled in to park. After walking in and getting their shoes, Andrea grinned and at jay and said "care for a rematch because last time I checked, I beat you 7 years ago". Jay smiled and said, "mhmm let's see who's crying after this...oh and the loser has to give Victoria the awkward boy talk". Jay grinned and said "deal" before they began to play competitively. As they played, they found themselves taking the game less seriously as they giggled and one-upped each other with sneers and playful insults which drew a lot of attention to them. The owner turned to one of the patrons and said "I miss when I was that young and carefree". Other patrons looked at them and smiled as they thought they just got married since Jay was still in his work suit and Andrea was in her white dress and they were smiling and hugging each other.
For Jay, it felt nostalgic and he had forgotten about their quarrel in the midst of the fun. The game ended in a tie and jay smiled and pulled Andrea into a kiss and said "I guess we'll both give her the boy- talk". She smiled and said "we're not done yet, the night is still young" before they left the bowling alley. After driving to the fair, Andrea got out and said " tonight we're kids again".
