Chloe quickly stepped back, narrowly avoiding the spill. Her evening gown remained pristine, untouched by the chaos that had almost unfolded.

"I'm sorry, brother," Diana said, trying to sound apologetic. "I just wanted to congratulate you."

Chloe picked up on an odd scent lingering in the air, her brow furrowing in response. Pax didn't look too pleased either. Still, he managed to say, "It's okay."

Diana fussed over him, attempting to clean the mess. "Brother, it was my clumsiness that got your clothes dirty. You should go change."

Pax's white shirt was drenched, stained with wine, and clearly not wearable anymore. He really needed to change, but he hesitated, worried about leaving Diana and Chloe alone together. It was clear the wine wasn't meant for him; it was meant for Chloe. Fortunately, he had intervened just in time to take the hit himself.

Catching Chloe's eye, he got the message. "Pax, go change your clothes. I need to have a word with Diana."

Honestly, Pax figured he shouldn't be too concerned. Chloe could handle Diana's petty tricks. Besides, they were at the Sartori family gathering, with countless eyes observing every move.

As Pax headed inside, Diana faced Chloe. "Surprised to see me?"

Chloe met her with a cold gaze. "What's your game, Diana?"

"Diana, I'm here to say goodbye to you and Uncle Connor," she began, her face seemingly genuine. "I was naive before. I've decided to move on from Uncle Connor and start fresh. I won't meddle in your relationship anymore."

"I've been immature, and I've paid the price. Please, forgive me."

Chloe watched Diana's earnest expression, feeling a twinge of doubt. Whether Diana was genuinely remorseful or putting on an act, Chloe decided to play along. "Then I wish you the best." Diana smiled, "And I wish you and Uncle Connor a lifetime of happiness together."

With that, she pulled a box from her purse. "This was a gift from Uncle Connor for my 20th birthday, a piece of jewelry you designed. I think it should go back to its rightful owner."

Chloe remembered the necklace. It was at Diana's birthday party when she had decided to end things with Connor, They had truly been apart for a while back then. Whether Diana was using the necklace to provoke her or sincerely returning it was unclear.

But Diana insisted, pressing the velvet box into Chloe's hands. "I want to sever ties with the past completely, and I can't keep these things. But this jewelry is valuable. Please, return it to Uncle Connor for me."

"Since it's a gift from Uncle Connor to you, you should keep it," Chloe said.
