“Don’t cry. I’ll clear this up for you.”
Michael knew there was absolutely nothing between them.
They really shouldn’t talk about her like that at the office.
Lucy’s sobs quieted down. “Thanks, Michael.”
Chloe headed downstairs and poured herself a glass of water. She wasn’t with Paramount Airlines anymore, so she had long
since left the work chat.
So, she had no clue what was going down in the work chat.
But when she saw the worried look on Michael’s face, she knew exactly who was calling.
Lucy was always like this. It was as if she had a set schedule for calling him.
Every night, she would call him.
Her excuses were always different. Sometimes, it was a broken.

She lived alone, and calling Michael in the dead of night easily stirred his sympathy and concern.
Chloe figured Lucy was in some kind of trouble again. She was about to pretend she hadn’t noticed and head straight to bed when he called out to her.
“Hold up, Chloe.”
Michael sat at the table and called her name. She turned to look at him, curious about what he wanted this time.
“Lucy got misunderstood by her colleagues at Paramount Airlines today. Now everyone in the group is calling her at homewrecker. Things are getting out of hand. Can you jump in and clear things up?”
Chloe paused, instinctively responding with a question.
“What do I need to explain?”
Isn’t that just the truth?
Michael frowned slightly and said, “You’re my wife. Just tell them Lucy didn’t interfere with our relationship, and the gossip will stop.”
Chloe’s face lit up with a hint of amusement. “It’s not like I spread the rumor that she’s the other woman.”

“Lucy’s all alone, with no one to lean on. Now she’s being slandered–how can she stay at Paramount Airlines like this? I just want you to clear things up for her. It’s not like I’m asking you to do much. Why are you so unwilling to help?”
Michael glared at Chloe, clearly annoyed.
“It’s been over a decade since your feud. Why can’t you just help
her out?”
Chloe had truly given up on expecting anything from Michael.
But this man kept pushing her limits.
His seemingly casual words hit Chloe right where it hurt the
most.
To Michael, Lucy was the epitome of pure kindness, while Chloe was the embodiment of malevolence.
Whenever Lucy cried, he’d instantly blame everything on Chloe.
So, after all these years, who could really see the pain she endured?
“Michael, I have no idea what’s going on or why the Paramount Airlines chat is saying she’s the other woman. You should be looking into where this rumor started, not blaming me, unless you’ve lost your mind.”
