Distance: A Dark Mafia Romance (Beneath The Mask Series Book 1)

Distance: Chapter 37

I gasp as his glove connects with the side of Keller’s jaw. His body barely moves an inch in response to the hit.

I may not be a boxing expert, but I know my Champ is the better fighter here. Every punch he throws is more powerful than the last. The sweat coating his strapping physique glistens under the lights. With every punch, his strong muscles ripple. He belongs up there. He owns those titles.

I can’t lie. Watching him compete in the ring is making me hot.

Even with his eyes burning with focus, he looks sexy. It could be the hormones or the lack of sex the last few weeks. I squeeze my legs together and shuffle awkwardly on the seat, just imagining massaging every single worn out muscle on his body.

Pull yourself together, Sienna.

Distracted by my thoughts, it all happens in slow motion. Keller’s right glove connects perfectly with the underside of his opponent’s jaw, sending him hurtling through the air and landing with a thud.

The room goes silent as the ref counts to eight.

The longest eight seconds of my life so far.

Holding my breath, I stand, chewing on my fingernails.

The referee throws up Keller’s right arm in victory, and the entire room erupts with cheers.

“Holy shit, Sienna. He fucking did it!” Maddie exclaims from the seat next to me, jumping up and down, clapping, spraying her champagne all over the floor.

Emotion overcomes me. I’m so proud of him. Tears flow freely down my cheeks as I break out into a smile. These are happy tears.

Wiping them away, I join the chants of his name filling the arena. I can’t take my eyes off him. Every part of me wants to leg it over there and pounce on him. I don’t think being tackled by a security guard is a clever idea though.

Goosebumps erupt all over my skin as Keller’s dark gaze meets mine and he mouths, “I love you.” A warm fuzzy feeling melts my insides.

God, I love this man.

The ring is now buzzing with different men, all dressed in similar dark outfits, buzzing around Keller. He’s posing with all four of his belts covering his body, two wrapped around his waist and one draped over each arm. Once they are removed and the camera stops flashing, one of his team passes him a black microphone as the lights illuminate the ring in white, leaving the crowd in darkness.

“We fucking did it. Undisputed Heavy Weight Champion of the fucking world.” His deep voice booms throughout the entire arena, the crowd whooping in response.

“First up, I want to thank my best friend and trainer for kicking my ass into shape and reorganizing this fight,” he says as he nods to Grayson, who’s beaming at Keller like a proud dad.

“There’s also someone else here in the crowd tonight.”

All the air leaves my body as two security guards zone in on me. My heart is pounding through my chest. “Come on up here, Baby, and bring that black box.”

Shit. The box. Maddie’s eyes on stalks and her jaw is almost on the floor, I look at her almost pleading for help.

She quickly snatches my clutch off the floor and rummages through, thrusting that small black box in my shaking fingers.

“Go, Sienna. Go get your man.”

The tall security man offers me his hand. I graciously take it. I need someone to lean on. My legs are wobbling all over the place in these red heels. He ushers me up the stairs to the ring, pulling the ropes apart as I duck underneath. Keller’s abs greet me as I straighten up the other side.

“What are you doing, Keller?” I whisper in embarrassment, keeping my head down.

I hear him let out a full bellied chuckle. It eases me for a second. He leans down, heat radiates off him as he whispers only loud enough for me to hear.

“This is our moment, Baby. Pass me that box.”

He holds out his palm, I instantly recognize those familiar white hand wraps and a blush creeps over my cheeks in the memory of that night.

He drops down to one knee with a thud; the floor vibrating beneath me.

I let out a gasp as I cover my quivering mouth with my trembling hands.

“My Queen. From the moment you hurled your perfect body on my lap and grabbed my dick like a gear stick, I knew you were it for me.”

The crowd erupts into a mixture of laughs and cheers. A hiccupped laugh escapes my lips, jolting my body. Tears threatening to explode any second.

“When I lost you, I lost myself. I lost everything I’d ever wanted. My world crumbled. You keep my world spinning, you bring me literally to my knees. I want to spend every second of every day loving you how you deserve to be loved. Like the queen that you are. You’ve dragged me out of the shadows. Taught me how incredible it is to be loved and love in return.”

Warm tears spill down my cheeks as he speaks. His eyes are filled with the warmth of his love, yet worry drips from his tone. Slowly opening the box displayed in front of me, the glimmering emerald-cut diamond appears, twinkling under the stage lighting.

Holy shit.

“You own my heart, Sienna. It will only ever be you. Please give me forever. Marry me?”

His words penetrate every wall I’ve put up around my heart, shattering my resolve. My hands instinctively place themselves across my lower abdomen. “Yes.” The simple word falls from my lips. “Yes, yes, yes,” I sob, darting towards him, dropping to my knees to meet him on the floor.

He grips the back of my head and smashes his lips down onto mine, pouring every ounce of passion and love into his kiss.

“I fucking love you.” He mumbles through kisses.

The flashing and clicking of the cameras brings me back into the room. I wrap my arms around his neck, his sticky, sweaty skin rubbing against my arms.

“How does tomorrow sound?” His deep tone sends shivers down my spine as he whispers just for me to hear.

“I’d prefer tonight.” I don’t want to wait to become his forever. I already am.
