Detonate: Chapter 4
Her soft waves of bright blonde hairbrush against my nose as I breathe in her vanilla scent. The steady rise and fall of her chest indicates she’s still fast asleep. I’ve had my four hours and I’m good to go, and apparently so is my cock.
I need to get out of here before we do something we regret.
I keep replaying the shift in Maddie’s behavior with me. That distance was gone and the playful Maddie was out to play. But she doesn’t seem to hate me as much when she’s had a drink, that’s for sure. The way she licked her lips when I undressed… Fuck, her perky tits are ingrained in my mind now. It took all the willpower I had not to suck on one of those rosy buds last night.
Now here she is, cuddling up under my arm, her back pressing into my chest and my hand almost touching her tit. We’ve come a long way from her threatening to stab me.
I slowly pull my arm out from underneath her head, hoping not to disturb her. I need to get the fuck out of here. There is only so much restraint a man can have, especially when I have the woman I’ve dreamed of fucking for months, naked, with her ass pressed up against my cock.
As I roll over, she stirs next to me. I gently tuck her back in and press a soft kiss on the top of her head. “Bye, Sunshine.” I don’t even know why; she’s already shattered my one no-kissing rule to pieces. Now I just can’t seem to stop. Her plump lips are the only ones I want.
And the only ones I can’t have.
That’s why this has to stop. I can’t keep fucking with her anymore, especially now that I know she’s in as deep as me. Last night, there was a complete shift in the air between us. Just one more argument could tip us over the edge of no return and break us both. That strange feeling I get whenever I’m near her, like my heart is pulling me from the inside, almost makes me stop getting dressed. But I don’t. I throw on my clothes and walk toward the bedroom door without looking back.
“Are we going back to hating each other today?” Her groggy voice catches my attention.
Resting my arm against the doorframe, I lean into it and take her in. Her rosy cheeks give her away far too easily.
“You have no idea what it does to me when you get riled up, Maddie.”
Her brows lift, and her lips part. I’ve effectively rendered her speechless.
“I’ll see you around, Sunshine. Don’t make a habit of drunk-texting men and taking your tits out for them. You have much more class than that.”
She picks up a pillow and hurls it at me. It lands a yard in front of me. My eyes dart between the latest attack object and her scowling face.
“Trust me, that will be the last time you will ever see my boobs again.”
I wish it wasn’t.
Amused, I say, “I’ll have the image saved in my brain forever, don’t you worry.”
“Goodbye, Grayson,” she huffs, hiding under the duvet.
“See ya, Sunshine.”
Last night, maybe I skated too close to the sun.
