In the south, there was often heavy rain in summer.

In the days since Anika left the hospital, Trent would often take time to be with her.

Because of the after-effects of the medicine she had taken before, she was doing worse

these days.

Yet she was in much better spirits. Even though she had no appetite at all, she would force

herself to eat as much as she could.

While with Trent, she never mentioned Joshua.

Being treasured and stored in one's memory for a long time,some people would become

one's sore spot when being brought up.

Or maybe she didn't want her friend to absorb too much negative energy with her.

When she was alone,she would look at Joshua's Line profile in a daze.

She didn't know how to bring up the divorce with him again.

One day,Anika bought some groceries.

She was about to go back.

Just then,someone blocked her way.

Violet wore sunglasses and a mask. Her long hair was scattered on her shoulders, and she

was wearing a beautiful long dress and a pair of high heels,looking imposing.

"Anika,does Mireya know that you aren't dead?"Violet smiled.

Anika didn't expect to see Violet here.

They found a quiet cafe and sat down by the window.

Big drops of rain were beating against the window.

Violet took off her mask and revealed her delicate face.

"Don't worry Valentin told me that Eli had taken Mr.

Morrison's money and had run away with Mireya. They won't bother you anymore."

Anika had already heard the same thing from Trent.

Because Anika did not marry into the Morrison family as agreed, Mireya and Eli were afraid

of retaliation and fled overseas on the same day.

Who would have thought that the Carey family, which was utterly rich at once, would fall

apart because of 50 million dollars?

Anika listened silently without any emotional fluctuations.

"What's your point?"

Violet imperceptibly looked at Anika's lower abdomen.

Anika wasn't showing yet.

Violet pinched her palms, and instead of telling Anika that she had already known, she said,

"Tell me.What will it take for you to leave Joshua?

"Give me a number, and I'll give you what you want."

Anika thought, "How arrogant."

She smiled.

She looked at Violet calmly." Joshua and I have been married for three years.Our community assets are at least a billion dollars. Do you have that kind of money?" Even the most famous actress might not be able to have that kind of money.

Let alone Violet, who only had the name of going abroad and was nothing but a piece of trash essentially.

Violet gritted her teeth at the scornful look in Anika's eyes.

Violet thought, "That makes sense.After all, the woman in front of my eyes used to be the most favored daughter of the Carey family. Money used to be just a number to her. "Anika's grandpa used to be the richest man in Oasisville.

'But right now,she is just an abandoned woman who no one wants.

Thinking, Violet felt better. She smiled.

"You don't know who sent me to you, do you?

*Joshua's mother specifically asked me to tell you that as long as you are willing to divorce him, you can have as much money as you want.

"You are no different from a beggar to us."

A beggar...

Anika thought of those fawning words Rachel had said to her when Rachel had asked her

to marry Joshua.

Back then,Rachel said that only the Carey family's daughter was worthy of becoming Joshua's wife. She also said that she would regard Anika as her own daughter. Anika suddenly did not want to be aggrieved anymore.

She stood up and said, Then bring the money, and then we'll talk!

She knew at once that Rachel wouldn't give her the money. She turned to leave.

Violet's warning came from behind her. Violet said, "You will regret it."

Anika got home. At night, she was awakened by the sound of the phone.

She picked up the phone and heard Joshua's deep,cold voice.

"I indeed think too highly of you. How much do you want?

"You've gone missing for days. And this is what you've come up with?"
