Joshua listened silently. His eyes darkened and yet he didn't refute Valentin.
Because of his indulgence, everyone, including Valentin, his friend, Rachel Edward, his
mother, Payton, his assistant, and even the servants from the old mansion, didn't treat Anika
properly.
Valentin received a call and left hurriedly.
After he left, Joshua subconsciously picked up his phone.
Anika didn't call him.
He called her,and again, he heard the cold, robotic female voice.
"Sorry,the number you dialed cannot be reached at the moment, please dial later..."
He threw his phone away in frustration.
Then he got up, went to the French windows, and lit a cigarette.
Anika's words from early morning still haunted him. She said she regretted it.
He felt a strange bitterness in his throat. He coughed heavily a few times and suddenly
heard a woman's voice behind him.
"Joshua,smoke less. Smoking is bad for you.'

"Your mom sent me here. She knows that Anika has already found another man. She hopes you won't think too much about it.

Joshua's mom was Rachel.
