Darling, Don't Get Rid of Me

Chapter 64 Not A Profound Lesson

"Now, today is a big day. I will not allow you to do something obstreperous."

Sandra Jones was so rarely authoritative but this time she was serious. She grabbed Louisa's hand and brought her to dressing table. While gave the makeup stylist a sign to start, at the same time, she still tried to persuade her daughter.

"Louisa, listen to me. Just follow my instruction. Just this once. You can play whatever you like after your birthday party, but don't ruin the party today."

Louisa was not happy inwardly, so replied perfunctorily, "Fine, you are in charge!"

Just pretending to be dignified and elegant was enough.

As long as she thought of all of this was done for the Jones' face but she even can't bring the boy he loved openly in her birthday party, she was seized by an outburst of anger.

In the Jones' house, lights were on and everywhere were decorated with flowers, which contributed to air of romance.

Some careful people would know today's party was not simple one if they thought carefully.

In the hall, all the guests present were bigwigs and celebrities.

Men were in suits, and women were elegant. However, everybody paled when Wesley Smith came out.

Wesley was not the only one who were in a well-cut black suit, but it suited him so perfectly due to his golden ratio figure. Indifference in his deep black eyes, even though, the focal point in this house was him. "Harriet, Harriet?"

Harriet Clark ran her eyes over Wesley's figure and looked at Keith Miller who was calling her in whispers.

"What's going on?"

Keith Miller frowned and asked concernedly, "Instead, I wanna ask you what happened? You look not well. Are you okay?"

"Nope, just a little hungry. I'm gonna go get some dessert," said perfunctorily Harriet.

If she knew this is Louisa Jones' birthday party, she preferred to staying at home to die instead of attending.

"Harriet, what would like to have? I'm about to get."

Keith was fond of interacting with Harriet and constantly asked her questions with concern just like a piece of sticky sugar.

"I can do it by myself. That's okay. Just take care of yourself."

Keith seemed a little bit disappointed and innocent with pouting slightly. "Sister, did you regret coming out with me?"

"Negative." Harriet answered, "Keith, actually it's a once in a lifetime chance to have a word with those seniors here. Look, the man in gray suit over there was the Best Actor Jade last year. You can talk with her, and maybe can learn something from him. It is said that he is a nice and kind guy."

Harriet did not expect that Keith Miller even didn't have a look but took Harriet's arm and said, "You are my senior, too. I can also learn something from you."

She choked throat and didn't know what she should say. She just can't show her eloquence in front of him who took after his younger brother, Colin Clark. She can't help but carry and embrace him.

Forget about it. Ever since she promised to come here with him as his female companion, she should not be mean.

Thinking about that, she did not reject Keith's intimate movements. She picked up Macarons on the table idly and were about to eat.

Who knew that Keith got close to her cheek,"Me, too.”

Harriet stopped, and put exquisite one into his mouth simply. She added irony, "Want more?"

"Sure. Of course!" He didn't expect that she would really feed him. Keith's eyes twinkled like stars and kept nodding along with staring at her.

Harriet just fed him without effort. It was just kind of joke. She never knew that Keith was so fond of it. So Harriet kept feeding him the second Macaron recklessly.

Just took it as she fed Colin.

What Harriet didn't know was that all above was seen by Wesley Smith. His sharp sight just like a bullet shot her through the crowd, which she was not aware of.

He had warned her to keep herself apart from other men, but she had turned a deaf ear to it.

It turned out that the lesson he taught last time was not profound enough!

After an exchange of courtesies and congratulations, the birthday party finally began.

The huge hall was filled with a melodious ensemble, and the very center was left as a dance floor.

Louisa Jones led the first dance naturally as today's main character.

She looked like a royal princess with her delicate and elegant makeup, dressed in a white evening dress. Then Wesley Smith who held out her hand to dance, just like a honorable prince without any doubt. The pair was in dance on the floor, whom everybody got stunned by.

"They're destined to be a couple. God, if only my son can be remarkable like Wesley Smith."

"Yes, the Jones' daughter is born under a lucky star. If I had a son-in-law like Wesley Smith, I would be delighted beyond measure."

Their secret conversation with jealousy was heard by Harriet.

She kept staring at the center of dance floor with a poke face.

Louisa and Wesley's graceful figure stung her eyes and made her heartbroken.

They were so perfect to one another indeed as people talked about just now.

Maybe this was their fate, she can not dance with Wesley Smith openly for the whole life except in a secret way.

Oh, that was so ironic.

"Harriet, why not dance with me?"

His clear and pure voice drew her attention. The first word in her word was "no", but she changed her mind because of the two in the dancing floor. Harriet put her hands out and smiled, "Sure." Guests got on the dancing floor one by one. Harriet was dazzled by the spinning luxurious long dresses women worn, which rendered her try to ignore the pair who shone brightest.

"I didn't know you are a good dancer." Harriet smiled and swung herself into Keith's elbow.

"You're not bad."

Hearing the praise, Keith was very delighted and opened the chatterbox.

"I learned it at a training camp where the instructors were very strict and I regretted attending at that time, but it seemed worthy now! Harriet, Could I invite you as my female companion next time?" Harriet smiled wittily, "Sure, but you need to pay me more."

She was just joking, but Keith seriously asked, "How much money should I pay?"

Harriet burst out of laughter because she thought clearly Keith was still a child.

"That was a joke."

He felt like the woman obviously took him as a child, so Keith unhappily pursed his lips, "Harriet, I've grown up, please don't always talk to me as you speak to a child."

Harriet didn't care about that too much. She said perfunctorily, "I don't regard you as a child."

Just viewed him as a younger brother.

The opening dance ended and the ritual began. As the Jones' representative who was in charge, of course, Allen Jones gotta deliver a speech.

Harriet was listening in the crowed. Suddenly, she heard the words that she did not want to hear for her whole life.

"Thank you all you guys for being here. I know you guys have always been up to your eyes. I appreciate it. Today is not merely my daughter's birthday. At the meantime, it's time for her to decide who's gonna spend the rest life with her."

Looking lovingly at his daughter and Wesley Smith with a smile, Allen Jones added, "I declare that Louisa Jones and Wesley Smith are engaged. We will keep you guys informed about the wedding day. All of you make sure..."☐☐☐
