Chapter 17
Chapter 17
Noah’s POV

“Your have missed breakfast and will soon miss your first class of the day,” my personal assistant that Alek had assigned to me informed me from the foot of the bed.
“And?” Just what was it about wanting to be alone was so hard for them to
I had rejected about three calls from Alek just this morning alone.
understand.
“Are they done with breakfast?” I asked, my heart tightening at the thought of Irene, my fated mate, having breakfast with my brothers.
Just what was so difficult in cancelling a contract??
In our empire, it was hard enough that there were more men than women; it was even harder to find a woman that you liked.
Eventually, a lot of men would settle for a breeder–someone who could carry their kids and start a family with them.
As for our family? Elton had his fair share of women every now and then. Since Alek was the king. he had to keep his pallet simple, but I knew he had shared a woman with Elton before.
About two years ago.
My eyes narrowed as I tried to remember how that had gone. I had barely paid attention to them as I was more focused on learning more about my Gifts.
All I could remember was, at some point, she had been there, and I had assumed she was going to be their breeder, and one day, she wasn’t here anymore.
Or maybe this was just some memory that Alek had messed with?
While I didn’t know the full extent of my brother’s Gifts, I had always had this faint suspicion that he could alter memories.
Every now and then, I would have a faint flashback of something, but remembering the scene and how things had happened would become impossible.
Or maybe it was just me.
But they were too coincidental.
“Lady Irene had breakfast alone today,” Jamie reported, interrupting my thoughts, and I shot up from my bed.
“What did you just say?!” How could they have left her alone to have breakfast?

She must have felt alone, right?
“She had breakfast alone, and then Sam took her to school,” Jamie reiterated, and my b*dy
stiffened.
Yes, Sam, Elton’s right–hand man.
That Jerk.

Just yesterday and every other day, he made a fuss and acted like he wanted nothing to do with my mate. But not once did he suggest the contract being dissolved.
Scheming bastard.
Of course, he will want a breeder like that.
Irene was perfection, like the moon goddess, who made a decision to remind us of just how amazing she was and created Irene.
She was flawless, breathtakingly beautiful, and her every action, every smile, and every flutter of her lashes tugged at some innermost part of me.
Deep in my bones, outside the intense yearning from my wolf. I knew.
I could tell that she was made for me. That she was mine.
While I might not have minded sharing her with my brothers in the first place, after all, they were the ones who found her and brought her.
My mind had been made up from the moment I laid eyes on her. She was meant to be mine.
I could have never settled for her just being my breeder. That was impossible.
For the first time, I decided to take my brother.
I had made a move on her the first night for this very reason.
Perhaps the moon goddess saw my desperation, saw how badly I needed her and decided to make
us one.
A fated mate was a myth. Something that didn’t exist.
The records are left in books and folklore.
Yet, when Alek had released her wolf, I had been certain of what I felt. Of what it was.
It was a second chance from the moon goddess. Yet…
I let out a frustrated groan, the events of last night replaying in my head one more time, and I laid back on the bed.

Chapter 17
“Your Highness!” Jamie called out again, and I glared at him, on the verge of a real outburst.
“There’s no one in here, Jamie, call me my f**king name!”
Like I didn’t have enough reminder that I was a royal already, that I had to think of the empire and kingdom before I thought of myself.
That my fated mate had to be the Royal breeder.
I threw another punch at the bed, and the hundreds of high–grade steel springs push back at my hands.
After the awakening of my gift, Alek had the bed custom–made, and the mattress was given extra pushback strength.
It was not significant, but it made a lot of difference.
“Leave Jamie, I’ll be skipping classes today.” Not today, maybe not tomorrow too.
I was only attending to not make the other people feel weird; after all, regardless of how busy he was, Alek gave me all the training that I needed. Practically or theoretically.
I groaned, my emotions all tangled from giving way to my brothers. It’s not like I had a choice, though.
“I’ll inform the teachers at school,” Jamie mumbled and then stepped out of the room.
“Finally,” I mumbled as I heard the soft sound of the door closing.
I stood up, grabbing a bag so I could get some run in the woods before the sun came up.
The door burst open, and Jamie rushed in, flustered.
“Noah, Irene is in trouble again.”
One word and every single nerve in my b*dy acts like it’s on overdrive.
“What’s happening?” I asked, looking around for a decent shirt that I could throw on.
“I don’t know, but there’s this video that I just got from one of our men in school.”
I took a deep breath, taking the phone from me.
“What the hell is Tyla doing?” I cursed out, and I could already imagine ten thousand ways of ending her just from watching how she rushed towards my mate.
“I think it’s Kylie, Jamie corrected from the side.
“F*** her name.”

I didn’t give two fucks about that.
“Prepare the car, I’ll be down in five.”
Once again, I was going to be her Prince Charming because however hurtful her decision from last night was.
I was made to be hers.
And no one could touch what was mine to keep.
