Crystalla

Chapter Regret

The Wild Rose slowly departed the Life Crystal Cairn, as Ariel and Ashe helped Roisin into the medbay. Roisin stared blankly into the mirror in the room as Ariel tended to her wounds.

"I... killed her" Roisin said, with a shaky voice.

"It was self-defence, Roisin" Ariel sighed.

"No" Roisin shook her head. "I..." She said as she looked at the dried blood on her hands. Ashe grabbed one of her hands and tilted Roisin's head to look her in the eyes.

"You did what you had to do, Roisin" Ashe said confidently. "She would have done worse to you" She smiled.

"But..." Roisin began.

"Hazel stole everything from you, including your own identity, take the anger of that and hold onto it, for when we face Infernus" Ashe nodded.

"I don't know if I can..." Roisin sighed. Ashe pondered for a moment.

"Usually, I'd say you didn't have to do, but we have less than three full days left to save this world" Ashe shook her head. "When this is all over, you can finally rest" She nodded, as she grabbed a wet wipe and began cleaning the blood from Roisin's hands.

Roisin nodded and looked back at the mirror, she noticed through the glass behind her, Ruby, the dragonet, was watching, she looked very worried. Ashe noticed her too and opened the door for her. Ruby darted into the room and landed beside Roisin.

"Are you okay!? What happened?" Ruby asked, panicked.

"I'll be okay" Roisin nodded, and forced a slight smiled, Ruby hugged Roisin with her wings. Ariel finished tending to Roisin's wounds and began to wash her hands.

"Roisin was very brave" Ariel smiled at Ruby. "But what she went through was traumatic, the wounds the battle left... might take a while to heal" She explained.

"I just wish I could go back to who I was, back at Wynd Academy" Roisin sighed deeply. "Everything seemed so simple back then, our biggest worry that year was a poxy empire" She added.

"You have grown a lot, emotionally and physically since then, though" Ashe smiled. Roisin stared into the mirror.

"But I'm not sure if I like who I have become" Roisin shook her head. "It's not just what I did to Hazel, I... I attacked Rychard with no remorse, back in Sanctuary" She continued.

"After everything he did to your family, even as Hazel, he deserved everything you did" Ashe replied, as she finished cleaning the blood.

"I caved Hazel's head in" Roisin said blankly. "I hit her over and over and over and over and over and..." Roisin began repeating as her fists clenched, Ruby stepped backwards. "Gods! Even now, this damn temper of mine... this power! I can't control it! I want it to stop! PLEASE!" Roisin cried hysterically. Ashe embraced Roisin and put Roisin's head on her shoulder.

Ariel stood up and called Ruby over to her as the left the room, to give Roisin and Ashe some space.

"Please Ashe, I can't do this any more..." Roisin cried.

"I know, Roisin, we're so close now" She said as she hugged Roisin.

"I don't want to fight, I'm tired of feeling this anxiety, this terror, this anger, please... I'm sorry" Roisin continued.

"When we're done, where will be the first place you go?" Ashe asked. Roisin thought for a few seconds.

"I'd love to go back to Inchaya, to the park with the cherry blossoms, to look over the pond there as sound from the nearby markets is drowned out by the sound of beautiful fireworks going off in the bay" Roisin said as she closed her eyes.

"We'll go there, I promise, all of us, we'll see those fireworks together, then we'll go to a restaurant together and sit by the bay until the sun begins to rise, and the sound of the birds echoes over the ocean" Ashe smiled, as she looked Roisin in the eyes.

"Thank you, Ashe" Roisin smiled, as tears continued to run down her cheeks. "You've always been there for me" She added.

"What are sisters for?" Ashe smiled, as she handed Roisin a tissue, the two talked f
