Chapter Out of Kindness

Keegan and Roisin stood before Tartarus and Infernus, who towered over them, in their shining white and golden armour, looking almost heroic.

"Do you truly reject this simulacrum?" Tartarus asked, looking down at the twins.

"Yes, it's not real" Roisin shrugged.

"As we speak, our old reality is being harvested, knowing this, do you still reject this kindness?" Infernus asked.

"Kindness?" Keegan scoffed. "You call that hell kindness?" He shouted.

"Compared to what awaits you in reality, it is very kind" Tartarus nodded. Atlas stepped forward, from the crowd the stood behind Roisin and Keegan.

"If we die protecting our world, then so be it. At least we tried" Atlas sighed.

"You will die, we will bring our full might to bear, you have no hope, no life left to live out there" Infernus replied.

"We will always have hope, that is something you cannot harvest" Ruby yelled. "That world we saw in the sky was yours, wasn't it?" She added.

"Yes, your reality will be harvested to aid in the restoration of the Old Universe" Tartarus replied. "It was majestic... far beyond what you could have ever hoped to experience in your... pathetic reality" He added.

"Our reality may be pathetic by your twisted standards, but it is OURS and we will fight to the end to save it" Lotte shouted.

"We live, we love, we toil, we cry, we feel... can you not see that we are not so dissimilar, why toil to recreate what is lost, rather than enjoy what exists here and now?" Dex frowned.

"Because what exists now disgusts us" Infernus shrugged. Aran shook her head and stepped forward, lowering her hood.

"That is a lie, Apathara, and you know it is" Aran frowned, Roisin looked at Aran and her eyes widened. "You sacrificed your own race for this... so-called glory. Tell me what is so glorious about those disgusting chimera that harvest the lands, about the starless night sky that hangs low about the sole red planet. The indiverse non-existent stagnant culture that clings on for dear life as the stolen life labours to rebuild a long dead time" Aran finished.

Everything fell silent and Infernus shook his head.

"You think to question my decisions, Araneia? You, who aided both Lumina and Abyssia for so long, while they built Empires and civilisations. While Lumina turned cities to dust in her rage, you think you are in any position to question me?" Infernus's voice roared, as Tartarus looked over to him.

"Yes" Aran shrugged. "I made mistakes, I did stand by and let my friends do... terrible things. This is why I must repent, why I must stand up now, against you, alongside my real family" She said, as she looked at Roisin and Keegan.

"So be it. I am out of kindness. We will not speak again" Infernus shook his head. As soon as he finished speaking, the dream came to an abrupt end. Roisin woke up outside the council chambers, the tear in the sky was now torn wide open.
