Crystalla

Many years ago...

An adult Michiko Aoba was sat in Roisin’s office, it was a cold winter’s day and the sea around Aquala University had frozen over. The door to the office creaked open, and Roisin walked in with two steaming mugs of hot chocolate, and a plate of cookies, she placed the drinks and snacks down, before sitting behind her desk.

“It’s a cold day out” Roisin chuckled.

“Thank you for the drink, Principal Luna” Michiko smiled.

“Come now, you graduated thirteen years ago” Roisin joked. “Call me Roisin” Roisin smiled.

“I’ll try” Michiko nodded.

“Okay, so... this might seem sudden, but... there are some things about being a Crystalla I want you to know. When you attended this school, you were too young to really comprehend such things” Roisin began, before standing up and looking out of the large windows.

“Obviously, this power, allows you to live indefinitely, if you so wish” Roisin began, with a hint of sadness and pain in her voice. “To someone as young as yourself, this may seem like a blessing. It isn’t. Though, I have come to understand that it is also, not a curse” She continued.

“It’s a duty, you were chosen for this because your heart was deemed pure, and your soul determined. No man or woman decides this, it is decided by the will of fate itself. Fate chose you to be one of the protectors of this world, you might see this as unfair, I know I personally have, many times... especially days like today” She sighed.

“But, Michiko, having unlimited time on this world allows you to also appreciate the world, for what it is. To cherish nature, instead of consume it. To take time to reflect” Roisin turned to face Michiko and smiled.

"I... think I understand?" Michiko shrugged.

"You probably don't, yet, and that's okay" Roisin smiled warmly, as she picked up a cookie.

"Just, find yourself someone to share your time on this world with" Roisin said, as she sat down. "It doesn't have to be romantic, just... a companion. The life of a Crystalla can be a lonely one, find someone to share that life with"
