Chapter 1176
The next moment, Yvonne broke into tears. She did not even know what she was crying for. All she knew was that she felt an overwhelming sadness, something she needed to release.
Nina wrapped her arms around her, gently patting her back in silent comfort while shooting a warning glance at Joe.
The look was laced with reproach, but Joe didn't seem to care. Instead, he thanked Nina for taking care of Yvonne during this time. As he spoke, he nodded toward his assistant, who handed over a gift.
Nina narrowed her eyes in displeasure. "What is this, Mr. Turner? Surely you know your position here."
Joe smiled slightly. "I know this is just a small token, and I'm aware Mrs. York probably doesn't care for such things. But it's all I can offer. It's the thought that counts, I hope you'll accept it."
"No, thanks. I don't accept gifts when no favors have been done. We don't know each other that well," Nina replied coldly, clearly uninterested in prolonging the interaction. She turned to Yvonne and began to walk her out. Before they could leave, Joe's assistant blocked their way.
Nina scoffed. "What's this, Mr. Turner? Are you planning to keep us here?"
The assistant stepped aside, and Nina gave Joe a final icy glance before they left. Joe didn't look back at her. His eyes remained fixed on Yvonne's retreating figure, a pained expression crossing his face.
Joe sighed. "Let them go."
The assistant, thinking Joe was unwell, was about to call for the doctor, but Joe stopped him. "Order flowers for Yvonne, one bouquet every day. Make sure the flower shop gets creative with the notes." Surprised but obedient, the assistant nodded, unsure whether to ask questions or stay silent. Joe continued, "Also, write a few sample notes for me. I'll pick the best ones."
"Boss," the assistant hesitated, "I heard Miss Yvonne's art exhibit was vandalized recently, and almost a hundred paintings went missing. If you can recover those paintings, maybe she'll see you in a different light." Joe was taken aback. "The paintings were stolen? When did this happen?"
The assistant quickly pulled up the news on his phone. When Joe saw that Niget had already stepped in to help Yvonne resolve the issue, a surge of frustration nearly drove him

"Find those paintings," Joe ordered, "and arrange a meeting with this Juccas."
The next morning, Yvonne received the first bouquet from Joe. When she saw the card with his name on it, she promptly tossed the flowers into the trash.
Nina, coming down from upstairs, noticed and curiously approached. "Who sent those? Was it Nigel?"
Yvonne shook her head and started to head upstairs.
"Wait, I think there's a card. Let me see," Nina said.
"Don't," Yvonne quickly snatched the card and shredded it into pieces.
Nina gave her a look of disbelief. "It was Joe, wasn't it?"
Now it was Yvonne's turn to be shocked.
How had Nina figured it out so quickly? Was it because she knew about the revelation that she and Joe weren't actually siblings?
Yvonne was certain she hadn't shared too many personal details with Nina, especially not about the suffocating ways in which Joe had controlled her life. Despite her confusion, she couldn't let Nina know the truth.
She shook her head. "Why would he send me flowers? No, it was just a fan. A bit of a creep, which is why I didn't want to accept them."
Nina seemed to believe her and
suggested they have the staff
carefully check any future deliveries. Anything with an unfamiliar name would be discarded immediately.
Relieved, Yvonne smiled. "I was wondering how to deal with that. Thanks, Nina. You've saved me the trouble."
