Chapter 1715
“What is it?”
“If I tell you, please promise me you won’t take offense.”
Rachel raised her eyebrows again, but she said nothing.
It meant she acquiesced.
Ethan hesitated at first.
But when he noticed that Rachel was eagerly waiting for him to speak, he decided to share.
“If you didn’t come to join this project, Klein would have been the deputy manager.”
Rachel was no longer surprised.
She asked, “So, he is hostile to me because he thinks I’ve stolen his position?”
Ethan gazed at Rachel without saying a word.
Rachel realized that his silence didn’t imply disagreement about her stealing Klein’s position.
He just didn’t feel like saying it in front of her.
Moreover, he didn’t fully understand the situation and couldn’t make a snap decision.
However, when it came to closeness and relationship, Klein had been his partner for many years.
Privately, he had a sense of discomfort about anyone else getting involved in Klein’s upcoming promotion to the deputy manager position.

“I hope you won’t be offended, Miss Bennet,” Ethan said.
“Klein has really given his all for the position, so it’s normal for him to oppose this outcome.”
Rachel gave him a quick look, then walked past him, casually dropping a remark.
“Is that so? The position was right there.
If he had put in the effort but failed to secure the position, it means he may not have the necessary skills.”
Ethan was surprised; he didn’t anticipate Rachel saying that.
“How could you…”
“Did I say something wrong?” Rachel interrupted him, turning to face Ethan.
“A capable person doesn’t need to brag about their hard work to get to their position.
Instead, they push ahead, proving their worth and outshining the rest, without a room for doubt.”
Ethan had no words to respond.
Stealing Klein’s position?
Rachel was not one to easily understand others’ feelings, and she didn’t feel any guilt about taking the deputy manager position.
She didn’t believe she owed Klein anything.
In her view, only the strong should win, regardless of effort.
She had a strong belief that her promotion to the position wasn’t because of her connection with Alberto.
She had full confidence in her capability to carry out the duties.
Having picked out office supplies and a computer alongside Ethan, Rachel headed back to the office.
Only Karen remained, who was chewing on a lollipop.
Ethan looked around the room and inquired, “Karen, where’s everyone else?”
Karen had just completed a set of calculations and turned her chair to address them.
“They’re out.”
