Chapter 392 Can I Trust Tou?
Hearing Lela call him "Uncle" made Alvin's tears flow even more freely. He was nearly choking on his emotions, his body shaking uncontrollably. "Lela, how did you end up like this?"
He thought, 'This is beyond anything humanly possible.
'Who survives a fall from a cliff unscathed?
'Who gets such severe wounds and has them heal instantly?'
Lela, sitting against a large tree to regain her strength-her injuries had been quite severe-took a deep breath and looked up at Alvin, who was overwhelmed with concern."Uncle Alvin, can I trust you? Can I trust you?"
The only people she trusted were Robert and Sylvester. But during the trip to the Divine Doctor Association, she had discovered something else. Maybe Robert wasn't dead at all. Maybe he was hiding. Perhaps, the one who killed her entire clan was Robert, whom she respected.
Hearing this, Alvin felt a sharp pain in his chest. He wiped away the tears on his face, but the worry in his expression didn't fade. "Lela, has someone been hurting you? Who did this to you? Tell me, and I'll make sure they pay for it." Lela began to laugh.
Suddenly, a breeze blew through the forest, bringing a familiar scent. She squinted her eyes, her lips trembling. She clenched her fists, deep in muse.
In the end, she didn't hide anything and told him all about her experiences as a Mutant and being experimented on by the Immortal Man. She said all that in an incredibly calm voice.
"Uncle Alvin, I am a Mutant, a Mutant from the Immortal Man. A test subject who suffered experiments every day, every year." Alvin clenched his fist and slammed it hard against the tree trunk, muttering, "The Immortal Man, how dare they do this!"
So much suffering was imposed on Lela, who was just a child at the time.
Alvin stammered, "And your mother..."
"She died in the Immortal Man's laboratory."
After a long silence, Alvin suddenly burst into laughter, tears streaming down his face. He had thought that since Lela was alive, Amanda must be alive too. He wanted to visit Amanda with some gifts for both Amanda and Lela. But he never expected an ending like this. Amanda had been going through so much suffering, treated as a lab rat, and dead in the Immortal Man's laboratory. Amanda didn't make it through. The survivors also went through great difficulties in staying alive. And he could do nothing.
"Where is the Immortal Man? Why are they doing these experiments? Where did the Mutant formula come from? Tell me, Lela."
Alvin lowered his voice, his tone icy, his whole body radiating anger. He would stop at nothing to destroy the Immortal Man.
Lela noticed the familiar person behind the tree out of the corner of her eye and slowly began to speak, "I was transported by the lab, escaping with the help of other test subjects. As for the exact location of The Immortal Man, I don't know. I'm not sure why these experiments are being conducted, but I do know the formula comes from The Divine Doctor Association-one of their forbidden methods."
In the darkness, Michael, hidden behind another tree, went pale at Lela's words. His tall frame swayed slightly.
He thought, 'Lela is a Mutant, and the Mutant formula comes from the Divine Doctor Association! Before Robert's death, he was the leader of the Divine Doctor Association... So, how much was he involved in this process? Or maybe Robert isn't dead. Robert has deceived us all, hasn't he? With Robert's great abilities, how could he have died just like that? So, in the evil laboratory of the Immortal Man, what exact role did Robert play in this?'
