Caine

Chapter 20

Alpha Dylan had his arm safely wrapped around his mate’s waist, and she was leaning into him. Even though I changed into a clean pair of jeans and a nicer shirt, I felt underdressed compared to her.

She was wearing a fitted blue dress, which matched her icy blue eyes. Although it wasn’t revealing, it hugged her body perfectly. Her long black hair was down, but unlike mine, hers looked neat. The only thing making her look casual was that she was wearing flip flops.

“Charlotte,” Caine called me.

“Huh?”

“This is Dylan,” Caine said, introducing us.

Alpha Dylan outstretched his hand to shake mine. He was slightly intimidating, and I found myself cowering into Caine’s arms. It wasn’t like Alpha Dylan was going to hurt me, but he looked so serious. While being very handsome, Alpha Dylan seemed like someone you shouldn’t mess with.

“I’m Leila,” his mate introduced.

“Charlotte,” I said, shaking her hand as well.

She smiled at me, and somehow her blue eyes seemed brighter.

While Caine and Alpha Dylan talked, I began observing them. His mate remained quiet. I noticed that she was looking around her surroundings. They had travelled with a large group, but I could easily distinguish who was more important in his pack.

A blonde, good looking guy was standing beside Alpha Dylan, while a brown haired cute boy was standing right next to the Luna. Other than them four, the rest of their Wolves were a few ways back.

Just like Caine, Alpha Dylan didn’t loosen his hold on his mate. Every few moments, he would massage his hand over her waist, and she would lean more into him. It was intimate, yet casual. I still couldn’t get over how beautiful she was, and how attractive he was.

It made me remember a comment Adam had once made about her. The Luna was beautiful enough that five packs had fought a war over her. It wasn’t supposed to be funny, but the thought made me smile.

In my lifetime, I had seen four Alphas— Alpha Tristan, Alpha Derek, Alpha Dylan, and Caine. I wondered if it was an Alpha thing that they all had to be very good looking. Even Alpha Tristan, who was in his mid-forties, was a very handsome man.

“Maybe Charlotte and I could get acquainted while you two catch up,” the Luna said, bringing me out of my thoughts.

Caine gave me a small push forward, but I didn’t think anyone noticed it.

Alpha Dylan and his Luna were looking at each other. The men around us were either making conversation or staring intently ahead.

“That sounds good,” Alpha Dylan agreed.

“You two can go inside, or to the back patio,” Caine said.

I caught the Alpha’s Luna rolling her eyes at Caine’s suggestion. I had to agree with her. Caine was trying to keep a leash, even though we weren’t going anywhere. I wasn’t going to leave Locus Territory, but it wasn’t because of Caine.

Liam had left to the apartment, and I was trying to keep him and Alpha Dylan from meeting. I couldn’t forget that Alpha Dylan wanted to kill Liam for running away from his pack.

Of course,” I said, in a snappy tone.

If I didn’t agree with Caine’s boring idea, he was never going to let me out of his sight.

When I looked up, I noticed Alpha Dylan was practically glaring at me. I looked away from him, and pushed myself even closer to Caine.

Alpha Dylan was starting to remind me of my times with Derek and Alpha Tristan. He seemed like a strict guy. If it wasn’t for how lovingly he kept looking at him mate, or how he was holding on to her, I would’ve thought he was ready to attack me or something.

“Charlotte,” Caine muttered under his breath.

He was staring at me, but a patient look was in his eyes. He was trying to treat me like a child. He usually reserved those looks for when I wanted us to mate, and he pulled away, claiming we had to wait.

“Luna,” I called out, because she and her mate seemed to be lost in a trance. “Macon and I are going to set up a picnic. You could join us if you’d like.”

That wasn’t true, but I just wanted to get away from the whole crowd.

“That sounds fun. You can call me Leila by the way,” she said.

When she tried to step away from her mate, Alpha Dylan stopped her. Alpha Dylan seemed reluctant to let her go. He finally released her after she slid her hand over his chest slowly and kissed him.

The way she kissed him, it made me blush. I noticed other Wolves around the area were staring at them. It didn’t really seem like either of them cared though. She was too busy smiling at him, and he was too busy staring at her like he wanted to devour her.

“Stay with Macon,” Caine told me.

Unlike Alpha Dylan and Leila, who had sweetly said goodbye to each other, Caine just pressed his lips against my forehead. It was an innocent kiss, and even though it shouldn’t have, it annoyed me.

“Lets go,” Leila said, holding out her hand for me to take.

I was surprised by the gesture, but took her hand either way. She was smiling happily at something.

“You’re in a good mood,” the cute, brown haired guy standing beside the Luna said.

“He’ll be thinking about me during his meeting with Caine. I can feel his Wolf,” Leila told him, giggling.

“Why?” I asked, because I honestly had no idea what they were talking about.

For a moment, I wondered if they were secretly making fun of me. I had only met one Luna before, and that had been Alpha Tristan’s mate. I had only ever heard her say a handful of words. She mostly kept to herself.

“Didn’t you see him?” She asked me.

We were walking into the mansion. I was leading the way, but Leila was easily following after me. I tried to calm down, even though I felt kind of nervous. I wished Liam would have been there. He knew Leila, so he would’ve made it easier for us to talk.

In general, my experience with anyone in power had not been great. Leila seemed nice, but I couldn’t help but feel slightly hesitant towards her. Something about her— she just radiated confidence.

Macon was standing next to me, and I was glad for that. I kept repeating to myself that I was okay, I was safe with him. It wasn’t like Leila was going to hurt me. Liam had really liked her, and he had gotten along with her. He wouldn’t have been really good friends with her if she was a bad person.

Then I thought about Lesley, who he was now sleeping with. Lesley and I did not get along, and Liam still stayed with her. My reassuring thoughts from before went out the window when Lesley entered my mind.

“Leila likes to taunt the Alpha,” the brown haired boy explained.

“This is Eric, by the way,” Leila introduced, linking her arm with his. He smiled at me, and I noticed the mischievous look in his eyes.

“And I do not taunt Dylan,” Leila continued, playfully.

“Yes you do,” Eric said.

“Caine is too strict to taunt,” I admitted.

“That, he is,” Eric agreed, giving me another smile.

“I’m Scott, not that anyone seemed to care,” another guy said.

He had been walking behind us, but he was right. I was hardly paying attention to him, Macon was only looking at our surroundings, and Eric and Leila were talking to each other.

“Right and this is Scott,” Leila giggled.

Leila and I were getting the picnic ready in the kitchen. I was glad when both her guards decided to stay outside in the hall while we talked. They seemed nice, but I felt intimidated as it was with Leila alone. I didn’t need two tall, athletically built guys standing in there with us.

“You okay?” Leila asked, bringing me out of my thoughts.

I was in the middle of making some lemonade. Leila was doing most of the work— preparing the sandwiches, slicing the pickles, and washing the fruit. I honestly felt useless next to her. She seemed like a proper Luna, and she made me feel like an errant child compared to her.

“Have you and Alpha Dylan been together for long?” I blurted out.

It wasn’t my intention to ask her that, at least not yet. But it was something that kept running through my mind. I felt my face warming up when I realized I might’ve crossed a boundary or asked something too personal.

“You don’t have to be embarrassed to ask, you know,” Leila said, in a warm voice.

“You seem really comfortable with him.”

Alpha Dylan and Leila looked like a perfect Alpha pair. They were both so attractive, and both of them radiated so much power.

I felt like Caine and I made an awkward couple next to them. The way Caine treated me in front of them didn’t help either. He was respectful, and I appreciated that. But at least Alpha Dylan and Leila had properly kissed. Caine seemed like he had barely wanted to kiss my forehead.

“He’s my mate,” she replied with a shrug.

“Yes, he is,” I agreed.

Alpha Dylan was her mate, just like Caine was mine. Yet Caine wasn’t all over me, like her mate seemed to be. Caine didn’t even want to mate with me yet. The thought made me frown.

“Are you and Caine doing okay?” She suddenly asked.

“We’re fine,” I quickly answered.

I didn’t want her getting any ideas, and I didn’t know if I trusted her enough to be talking about my relationship with Caine.

“That’s good,” Leila said, but it didn’t seem like she believed me.

“If you want to talk-” I didn’t give her a chance to finish before I interrupted her.

“We’re good, really.”

But we really weren’t. I maybe could’ve dealt with the fact that Caine and I weren’t as physical as Alpha Dylan and Leila seemed to be. But it wasn’t the only thing that was bothering me.

I hadn’t stopped thinking about the punishment that Caine had given to Lesley and the rest of them. It bothered me that neither Liam nor Caine wanted to tell me what it was.

I hated not knowing what they had discussed the previous night. It had obviously been important, and they had chosen to leave me out of it.

“Okay then.”

“But…” For some reason, the word slipped out of my mouth before I could stop it.

“You’re having problems with Caine?”

“No, I was just curious about you and Alpha Dylan.”

I was trying to cover up what I had been about to say. I was a second away from confiding in her with what had been bothering me for the past few days. She had something about her that made me feel comfortable.

“You can call him Dylan,” Leila told me.

I didn’t feel comfortable with that. Even though Leila was being nice to me, Alpha Dylan had been glaring at me since the moment I appeared in the front patio. His dominating and intimidating demeanor somewhat frightened me.

“He’s scary, isn’t he?” I asked.

Leila started laughing when I said that. Eric, her guard and the one she seemed more comfortable with, stepped into the kitchen.

“Alpha Dylan, scary? Na,” Eric said, in a playful tone.

“He’s not scary,” Leila said.

It was easy for her to say that since he was her mate. Just like Liam, my experiences with Alphas had not been great. My own Alphas had kicked me out my pack and left me on my own.

“I don’t think he liked me,” I told her, once again the words slipping out before I got a chance to stop them.

“He’s very strict with his rules. But don’t think like that. We were all just wondering why you were late.”

“I was telling Liam to go stay at our apartment in town. I heard your mate wanted to kill him,” I mumbled.

“How is Liam? I haven’t heard from him since he came to find you.”

“He’s fine.”

“Still complaining about packs?”

I was shocked that Leila brought that up. She was looking at me expectantly, waiting for my answer.

“He complained to you too?”

“All the time,” Leila said, laughing.

I joined in on the laugh. The calm mood that settled around us felt nice.

“Even though Dylan didn’t give him any rules, Liam always had something new to say about how restricting pack life is.”

I nodded in agreement. “He basically does the same thing with me.”

“He’s like a little kid.”

“Are you talking about Liam?” Eric asked, stepping into the kitchen once again.

“Maybe,” Leila said, in a teasing tone.

“Where is he anyways?” Eric asked, looking around the room.

“Naww… You’re missing Liam.”

“I don’t miss him!” he replied, defensively.

“Sure you don’t,” Leila said, but she was mocking him.

He went to stay at our apartment. I didn’t want him running into Alpha Dylan,” I finally told Eric.

He was starting to look flustered with Leila’s teasing. He and Leila really got along, a lot better than Macon and I did. I briefly wondered if that was because they had been together longer, or if it was because Alpha Dylan gave Leila more freedom than Caine gave me.

“They had a bromance going on,” Leila whispered.

I giggled at her words. I could hear the loud growl Eric gave even though he was out in the hall. Leila had a grin on her face, and she continued slicing the pickles she’d been working on.

It was surprising to hear that Liam had gotten along with Wolves that belonged to the pack. Liam considered most Alphas an enemy, and he wasn’t really fond of Wolves that belonged to packs either. To him, most of them were weaklings that liked to be ordered around by Alphas.

“I didn’t know that Liam made friends in your pack. He doesn’t like to mingle with pack members.”

“No, he doesn’t. But since I convinced Dylan to let him go, Liam stayed with me as my guard. Eric is with me at all times, so they kind of had to cope with each other,” Leila explained.

“What?” I asked, hoping that I had heard her wrong.

“What?” Leila repeated.

I couldn’t help but frown at her as the words she said sunk in. Leila had Eric as her only guard— Eric, who was a guy. Then Alpha Dylan had allowed her to have Liam as a guard. Liam who was not only a guy, but the proudest Rogue I had ever met.

“Is something wrong?”

“You had Eric and Liam as your guards?” I asked, through gritted teeth.

I shouldn’t have been getting mad at Leila. It wasn’t her fault. But she was right there and I was feeling jealous of the small privileges she had, that Caine made a big deal about.

“It used to be John, our third in command. But he’s usually busy with Dylan, so I ended up with just Eric. When Liam came along, I convinced Dylan to let him stay with me. Liam has saved my life— a few times actually.”

“Alpha Dylan left you alone with two guys?” I asked her.

It was unbelievable.

“Eric has been with me since the start, and Liam is a really great fighter,” she answered, as if that should’ve been explanation enough.

“But why?”

“Why what?”

“I have a girl guard watching over me. Caine doesn’t trust me alone with just men,” I spat.

“Oh,” Leila muttered.

She remained thoughtful for a few minutes, and I tried to control my breathing. As much as I tried, I couldn’t let go of my anger.

“One time, Lesley took off while she was watching me. She told Caine that Macon and I were doing God knows what. Caine beat up Macon because of her!” I snapped.

“Who is Lesley?”

“Lesley is part of our pack. She hates my guts but Caine still put her as one of my guards because he didn’t want to leave me alone with men!”

“He’s an Alpha, Charlotte,” Leila calmly told me.

“Your mate is an Alpha too, and he trusts you with other guys!”

My words came out in a shout, and I felt bad after I’d spoken them. I had yelled at Leila unintentionally because I was mad at the privileges she had that I didn’t. I did not expect for Leila to break out laughing.

When Macon, Eric, and Scott hurriedly walked into the kitchen, I wasn’t sure if it was because I yelled or because Leila was laughing really hard.

“Eric, Charlotte thinks that Dylan trusts me with other guys,” Leila told Eric, and it seemed like he understood what she was talking about.

He was laughing along with her, even though I was slightly confused by her behavior.

“In the Alpha’s defense, he doesn’t trust guys around Leila, not the other way around,” Eric said, looking more at me than at Leila.

I assumed Leila and Eric were both implying that Alpha Dylan was just as bad as Caine when it came to neurotic possessive behavior.

“Yeah right,” she said under her breath. “Caine’s behavior is annoying, but most Alphas are like that. You get used to it,” Leila said, trying to reassure me.

She took a hold of my hand, which made me look up at her.

“Honestly, I think I saw Caine smile for the first time when he was looking at you.”

I didn’t question Caine’s love towards me. I knew that he loved me, but I did find his behavior restricting at times. And I couldn’t deny that Alpha Dylan was a lot more physical with Leila than Caine was with me.

She squeezed my hand, and I couldn’t help but smile back at her. It was hard not to. She was looking at me warmly, and smiling very innocently.

“Still, it’s annoying,” I said, not really wanting to give in.

Leila ended up preparing most of the picnic. After the guys walked in, Eric helped her finish off. Scott and I were playing around, and he kept making me laugh.

Macon was standing by the side, and I noticed that he kept shooting me looks. He didn’t have to say anything for me to know that if Caine saw me, he wouldn’t like the way Scott and I were joking around.

I was glad when we made it outside. It was just Leila and me sitting together. The guys were a few feet away. Leila said it was enough distance so that we had as much privacy as we could while they were still there.

“How old are you?” Leila suddenly asked.

We had been outside for about fifteen minutes, but most of our conversation had been small talk about our own packs.

I could feel where the question was leading, which made me frown. I hated when Caine said that I was too young for him. I didn’t want other people to point it out, especially if those words might get back to Caine.

“Why do you ask that?” My voice sounded edgy, but I couldn’t help it.

“You seem young,” Leila shrugged, while picking some grapes from the container.

“I’m seventeen, but I’ll be eighteen in two months.”

“Oh, that’s good. I know Caine’s twenty-five,” she said, casually.

“He’s not that much older than me!” I snapped.

“No, he’s not. It’s actually a very good age. Dylan is three years older than me.”

I could tell that my tone was rude. It made me feel bad when Leila smiled at me. She was so calm despite my attitude.

“Caine has a thing about our age,” I told her, hoping that would explain my erratic behavior.

“What do you mean?”

I looked at her strangely when I noticed her sniffing me. I didn’t know what she was doing, but when I cocked an eyebrow, she just grinned up at me.

“You two haven’t mated?” She asked out of nowhere.

My face started to heat up, even though I felt frozen in the spot. I couldn’t believe she had just asked that. I couldn’t believe she knew we hadn’t mated. I was wondering if Caine had told Alpha Dylan and he had told Leila.

“I am so sorry,” she apologized. Her giggles only made me feel even more embarrassed. “It’s alright, Charlotte. Dylan and I didn’t mate right away.”

I felt like she only told me the second part of her comment to make me feel better. It didn’t help though.

“So you two haven’t mated,” she repeated.

It seemed like she wanted to keep that conversation going, but I was too embarrassed to say anything else. It felt like a good moment to ask her questions about mates and mating.

The only things I knew about mates were things my mom had mentioned. She had told me plenty of her relationship with my dad, and even things I had no interest in knowing. But my dad was nothing like Caine.

Caine, he had his own category.

I could see the playfulness in Leila’s features. I didn’t think she was going to make fun of me. She seemed genuinely curious, but I didn’t know what to tell her and that made me more nervous.

“Caine wants to wait until I turn eighteen,” I finally answered.

“But you don’t,” she stated.

I shook my head, feeling partly embarrassed for admitting it to someone. Leila didn’t make fun of me though. Like she’d been doing since we met, she took my hand and smiled at me.

I couldn’t help but laugh. She was a very touchy person. Even though I wasn’t, I didn’t really mind it from her. Leila just had something about her that made me want to give in.

“Dylan and I, we’re very…” She started to say before pausing. I waited somewhat anxiously for her to continue. “We didn’t have any problems with that. But I was eighteen when we met, so he might’ve tried the same thing Caine is doing.”

I didn’t believe her— not really, especially not with the way Alpha Dylan kept eyeing her when we met, like he wanted to jump her bones.

“It looks like he really really loves you,” I told her.

She only grinned and shrugged at me. I was sure she already knew that he did.

“He does, and I love him. And I am sure that Caine loves you too. I bet you his Wolf is begging to mate with you,” Leila said, rising up her eyebrows in a knowing way.

“Well, no one is stopping him,” I said, grumpily.

“You and Caine are always going to be together.”

“I know that.”

“What I mean is,” Leila said, and she started looking around us.

Her eyes roamed the area where the guys were sitting at. I noticed they were into their conversation, although they checked on us every once in a while.

Leila leaned closer to me until she was flush against my side.

“If you will always be together, there’s no point in waiting,” she whispered in a very low voice.

“I agree,” I whispered back.

“Then convince him of it,” she said, trailing her fingers lightly over my arm.

When I looked up at her, she was giving me a suggestive look, and she kept wiggling her eyebrows. I wanted to laugh, but I could tell that she was being serious.

“I’ve tried that. He stops me before it gets far,” I told her, sighing loudly.

I didn’t think anything would change Caine’s mind about waiting until I turned eighteen.

“What exactly did you try?” she asked me, curiously.

“Well,” I said, not knowing if I should’ve been discussing that with her.

“There’s only so much a Wolf can take before he gives in. Dylan can be thinking about something else completely, but a few touches in the right places, a few kisses, and he gives in. Even if he wanted to fight it, a Wolf always craves his mate.”

“Caine’s not like that,” I told her.

All Wolves are like that,” she continued. “He’s your mate. Trust me— he wants it as much as you do.”

“You and Alpha Dylan…”

I wanted to ask her how long it took for them to mate. Before I blurted out the words, I thought harder about it. I didn’t want her to think I was a pervert, even if I was genuinely curious.

Leila was looking at me, waiting for me to finish my question, but I didn’t know what to tell her.

“What about us?”

“When you two-” I started to ask, when I noticed Caine, Victor, Alpha Dylan and his Beta heading our way.

“You two took less time than I expected,” Leila casually said, acting like if we hadn’t been discussing something very private.

How she was able to recover so quickly after our conversation, I had no idea. She gracefully got up from the ground, even though she was wearing a dress.

Macon, Scott, and Eric were already up, and nodding as the guys passed by them. I took the opportunity to get up, feeling slightly strange at seeing Caine after my conversation with Leila.

Alpha Dylan took Leila’s hand, and walked her a few steps away from me.

“We were making arrangements,” he replied, before taking Leila in his arms.

I was busy watching them, even though they seemed to be having a moment of their own.

“Did you have fun with Leila?” Caine asked, in his usual low smooth voice.

He wrapped his arm around me, and pressed me to his side. As soon as he touched me, I felt the electricity between us. His touch made me feel so many things.

“It was informative,” I replied.

Caine looked down at me curiously, and he cocked in eyebrow.

“It was,” I shrugged, and tugged on his hand to walk us back inside the mansion.

We left the picnic behind, but I could already see people from the pack gathering our things. Just as I passed by Eric, he grabbed my hand.

He had just touched me, when Caine pulled me out of his reach and growled furiously at him. Eric was just staring at me, and I was scared Caine was going to attack him.

I felt Caine pulling away from me. A moment before he completely got in Eric’s face, Leila stepped in front of Eric.

“Sorry about that. Charlotte, it was really nice to meet you,” Leila said.

I nodded at her, and pulled Caine away before he tried to start something against Eric. Caine walked with me, but he glared at Eric before we made it inside.

I honestly had no idea why Eric had reached out to grab me, but I was just glad that Caine did not attack him.

“Why was he grabbing you like that?”

Caine wrapped both of his arms around my waist, and his hands were resting dangerously close to my bottom.

“Leila wanted to talk to me.”

Caine looked at me suspiciously for a few seconds, before leaning down. He slowly picked me up from the ground, bringing me eye level to him.

“You are mine,” he growled.

I was left stunned when Caine crashed his lips against mine. Caine bumped my lower half against him, making me moan out and snap out of my daze. I wrapped my legs around his waist, which brought me impossibly closer to his chest.

I weaved my hands through his hair, and softly tugged on it. Caine growled at me, and lightly bit my lower lip.

I had not expected for Caine to react like that just because Eric had grabbed my arm before walking in, but I was definitely enjoying what was happening.

I could tell that Caine’s Wolf was trying to come out. Even though he wasn’t hurting me, his claws were out, and I could feel his canines through our kiss.

It was an interesting sensation. Caine tried to pull back, and ended up nestling his head in my neck. His teeth were grazing my skin, and I could hear his hard breathing.

“My Wolf wants you so much,” Caine said in a low growl.

His claws slightly dug into my skin, and it only made me hold him tighter.

“You’re the only one holding him back,” I whispered, and playfully bit his earlobe.

As soon as Caine walked us to the couch, I knew he was going to stop what he himself had started. He took a seat, but his hold on me didn’t loosen. I was about to climb off his lap, but Caine growled when I made an attempt to move.

“Don’t,” he ordered.

I pulled back to look into his eyes. His canines had retracted, but his eyes were as dark as night.

“I didn’t mean to say my Wolf wanted you like this,” he said.

I frowned at his words, not really understanding what he meant.

“My Wolf wants you. He wanted to shift and take you,” he answered.

My eyes widened at his reply. Caine seemed to find my reaction humorous, because he let out a husky chuckle.

“I was trying to regain control of myself, Charlotte. I wouldn’t shift and mate with you. My Wolf would hurt you,” he explained, as if it was even an option.

“Well at least he wants me,” I snapped, knowing my comment would get to him.

And it did.

Caine’s smile left his lips, and it was replaced by a frown. I thought he was going to argue with me, or dump me on the couch and walk away.

He didn’t.

Caine’s hold on my waist became impossibly tight, and he growled at me, just as he had growled at Eric. Before I knew it, he had me pinned on the couch and he was over me.

His roughness surprised me, but in a very strange way, it was exciting.

Caine wasn’t moving though. He was only pinning me under him and staring down at me with a dark expression on his eyes.

His canines extracted again before he pressed his lips against mine. Kissing Caine, while feeling his elongated teeth, turned me on for some reason.

The way one of his hands was massaging and rubbing my thigh was very animalistic and erotic. I couldn’t explain it, but I knew I didn’t want him to stop.

The kiss, and how hungrily he was moving his lips against mine, was making me breathless.

I whimpered when he slightly pulled away from me. Caine growled when I did, and he pecked my lips, before getting up again. In just seconds, he ripped off my t shirt, and my bra went with it.

I felt both shy and nervous to be so exposed to him, but Caine didn’t even give me time to react. He lowered himself back to me again, covering up my exposed skin. The only difference then was that he had access to more of me, and he was taking advantage of it.

His hands were exploring the skin over my stomach, and slowly moving up to my bare breasts. All the while, he was sucking and biting the skin of my neck, right next to my claim.

“You are mine,” he growled again.

“I am,” I breathlessly said, bringing his head up to kiss him again.

Caine didn’t complain when I licked his lower lip, and gently sucked on it, but it didn’t seem like he had any patience for teasing.

His tongue had just found mine and his hand was massaging one of my breasts, when there was loud knocking on the door.

We both tried to ignore it, but I could hear growls rumbling through Caine’s chest. I knew he was going to attack whoever was on the other side of the door.

“Alpha!” Macon desperately called, giving another set of knocks on the door.

Caine pulled away from me, saying all types of curse words as he did. Now that he’d moved away, I felt embarrassed to be laying there with only my jeans.

When Caine looked down at me, I noticed the hungry look he was giving me. I couldn’t help but feel satisfied with myself.

He kneeled in front of the couch, and placed a kiss over my waist. He was grazing the skin with his teeth, before nuzzling his nose against my stomach.

“You smell so good,” Caine said, trailing his nose over my belly button, slowly followed by the area between my breasts.

He was just about to reach my mouth when Macon knocked on the door again.

“You should go,” I told him, reluctantly.

We had gotten so close to fully mating. I knew it wasn’t right, especially with our guests. In that moment though, I didn’t think I would’ve cared about anything but Caine and me completing the mating process.

“I’m coming, Macon!” Caine growled, and I was guessing it was loud enough for Macon to hear because he stopped bothering us.

Caine grabbed one of his shirts and handed it to me.

“Sit here. I don’t want you out there,” he told me.

“Why not?”

“I can smell your arousal,” Caine told me, shutting me up from any argument I was about to make about accompanying him.

“What?” Caine snapped at Macon once he opened the door.

“Liam is here and Alpha Dylan is downstairs. Victor and I have been trying to get a mind link with you for a while now. Alpha Dylan looked ready to attack Liam when I came upstairs,” Macon hurriedly said.
