Chapter 10
-If there is no spacing in the words, it is the app. I have edited the books over and over and from my side, the spacing is perfect.
*Warning- Triggering Content* -Rain POV Layla and I are still at the lake, Levi just left to help out delta Richard. "Let's go for a walk." Layla says walking into the forest. "I don't know Layla, let's just go back." I say but she's already out of my view. (I'm really not feeling up to this.) I run and catch up to her.
We have another hour to go before we have to make dinner. I'm still upset about what happened with Alpha Kayden. Not so much at him but at me.
(Why the hell did I say all that? I'm so afraid to go back, I feel like I'm gonna go back and find him waiting for me with a whip in his hands.)
"Are you sure you don't want to go change first? You are all wet." I say to Layla. "No, besides, once we walk it will start to dry." She says. "Alright." I say.
We keep walking and the breeze feels nice. I really would love to go for a run since I haven't shifted in a while but Layla doesn't have her wolf yet so we can't.
"So, you are adamant that Levi is going to be your mate huh." I say and she giggles. "Yep, I know it."
(I hope she's right. He's one of the few guys that are actually good. In fact, I think he's the only one in our pack.)
"You know, you are still a pretty little thing, even wearing rags like that." I hear Asher's voice right behind me, much closer than I would like.
"Run." I whisper to Layla she freezes for a few seconds and I have to stop since I am not going to leave her behind. She finally runs and I start running behind her but Asher manages to grab me from behind.
"I'm having my way with her first since I am the one that caught her." Asher says to Evan who is walking from a tree in front of me.
Evan looks at him with an irritated expression. "Yea, that's if she doesn't get loose first." He says as I struggle in Asher's arms.
"That shouldn't be a problem now unless she wants us to go after the little girl instead." Asher says.
"Pig!" I shout. He starts laughing.
Asher pushes me to Evan, he grabs me and throws me hard onto a tree and then he rushes to me pining me and holding me by the neck.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to let that little girl go?" Asher says walking towards us.
“It's fine, no one will believe her." Evan says while I try to get out of his grip but I am weak. My wolf is not strong enough and I don't know how to properly fight.
(Maybe if I could shift... but it would take me too long to shift. If I can get loose, then I can easily run and lose them like I have done plenty of times.)
Evan pulls me towards him and slams my head on the tree making me almost lose consciousness.
"You're not going anywhere this time." Asher says and he punches me in the stomach.
He lets me go and I double down and fall to my knees coughing. He grabs me by the hair and makes me look at him, then he slaps me. He keeps doing it over and over until my face is bloody. Evan just stands leaning on a tree watching but doesn't look too happy. I try to get up but then Asher kicks me on the ribs and now I can barely move because of the pain. I fall coughing face flat on the ground.
He turns me over and gets on top of me, I try to kick him but I can't so I start screaming but he covers my mouth with his hand. Tears come down my face and I start whimpering because I know I'm not getting out of this one. "You know, if you were a good girl, we wouldn't have to hurt you this bad." He says.
I close my eyes turning my head away and try to think of something else, trying to let my mind go away from here.
He starts unzipping his pants. "I like her like this sh
Asher goes flying off of me and I don't hear him anymore. All I hear is a menacing low growl and then Asher. "No! Wait-" Asher says but doesn't finish.
When I look to the side, I see Asher's severed head on the ground and Kayden standing over him with his eyes darken and Evan is nowhere to be seen.
I close my eyes and go into a fetal position trembling and crying.
"Rain." Kayden whispers getting near me.
He tries to pick me up but I shake my head.
"Don't touch me...please...don't touch me." I whimper softly.
"Rain...I have to carry you to the pack hospital." He says in a gentle voice.
He picks me up and all I can do is cry on his chest. He starts to carry me to the hospital and I hear someone running up to us.
"See, I was telling the truth, no one ever believes us." Layla says with Grant next to her.
"What happened?" Dr. Julien says when we get to the hospital.
"She was... attacked." Kayden says cautiously. "Bring her here." The doctor says.
They take me to a room and put me on a bed where I quickly turn around and put a blanket over me. "Was it Asher and Evan again?" She asks softly. "Again?.......Evan?" There's silence in the room and even though I can't see him, I can feel the anger coming from him. "I'm gonna kill him." He says and I hear him heading for the door.
"No... you can't. He's the betas nephew and the beta practically raised him like his own." Grants says, stepping in front of him.
Kayden growls. "I'm not just going to let him get away with this." "You are not Alpha... yet." Grant says emphasizing the yet. I hear Kayden taking a deep breath. "Rain? Did they..." She stops talking. "Alpha, beta it's best if you both wait outside." "I am not going anywhere." Kayden says angrily.
"Yes, I can, she's my mate!" Kayden shouts and the doctor gasps.
"Oooh, cat's out of the bag now." Grant says.
We hear another gasp coming from behind them. Layla is standing there and they all completely forgot she was there.
"Can you all please leave?" I say starting to cry again.
"Rain I'm not going anywhere." Kayden says.
"Leave." I say in a stern whisper. "How about we give her a few minutes." The doctor says.
Kayden growls annoyed but complies walking out with the doctor behind him and the others leaving as well.
"Dr. Julien explain." I hear Kayden say from the hall.
She sighs. "Do you want everything Alpha?" She asks in a hushed tone but I can hear them perfectly fine.
(What does it matter, he won't believe her.)
"Yes." He says sternly.
"She's been abused ever since she was little. She would come here with broken bones, bleeding gashes, concussions you name it. And she's not the only one, Layla and Levi have had bad injuries as well but for some reason, she's had it the worst."
(Yea because of beta Abraham and Evans fixation on tormenting me.) "Does my father know?" He asks.
"Well, whenever any of them told the Alpha, he would say that they were lying or exaggerating. Even when I would tell him he still wouldn't listen."
"That's gonna change, once I'm in control" Kayden says.
(Will it? I'm not so sure it will.)
"Good, we need a change around here." The doctor says. "One thing though. Do not tell anyone that Rain is my mate, no one can know." He says. "I understand Alpha." She says. "Kayden? Your parents are here." I hear Grant say. "Alright." He says walking back into the room. "What's going on?" I hear Alpha Felix ask.
"What's going on is that I killed that guy Asher." Kayden says almost growling. "What! What did you do?" The Luna asks panicking. "He was trying to force himself on...this girl. And I caught him." Kayden says.
The Luna gasps. "Did you really have to kill him?" The Alpha asks.
"Vermin like that will be dealt with as I see fit! In a few days, I'll be Alpha and trash has no place in this pack." Kayden says in a harsh tone.
(I can't believe he's talking like that to his father, the Alpha.)
His father sighs. "We can make this go away. I'll tell Abraham to take care of it." The Alpha says.
(Of course, just like they did to my father.)
Chapter Ten and will be dealt with narsniy. ine punishment will fit the crime."
The alpha clears his throat. "Very well then." He says without arguing.
"Oh, and Evan was there, watching. The only reason I didn't kill him was that when I was done with Asher he was already gone. Tell him not to show his face around me." Kayden says.
(I thought he wanted to hide us being mates. If he keeps acting like this, they are going to suspect something.)
"I will have a talk with him." The Alpha says and I hear them starting to walk out. (Of course, that's all they'll do.)
"Oh, and mother... you should work a little harder on your job. Aren't women and children under your charge?" "Kayden that's enough." His father says warningly but Kayden doesn't listen.
"The Luna is supposed to take care of them, that's your job. Meaning that if one of them tells you that something wrong is being done to them, you listen. You don't just dismiss it." (I am shocked.) "It would be best to continue this conversation outside." The Alpha says in a low tone. "No, I'm done for now." Kayden says. "We can talk in your office later." "Fine." The Alpha says but he doesn't sound too happy. The Alpha and Luna leave the room and the doctor comes in closing the door behind her.
(He......was pretty amazing there. Even his father was submissive. Yet I know that that won't matter because nothing will ever change. This has gone on for years and as long as Abraham is in this pack I will always be tormented. And now as a cruel joke, I am mated to an Alpha, the son of the man that let my father's murder go unpunished. He covered it all and that makes him just as bad as Abraham.)
"Rain, I need to ask you some questions." The doctor says. I shake my head. "I want him to leave." "I'm not going anywhere." Kayden says.
"Please just leave me alone." I plead, starting to cry again.
"You are my mate and I'm not-"I cut him off. "I don't want a mate. I don't want any man!" I shout. "Rain!" He shouts. "Don't say that." ", Rain Cade..." I start. "Don't you dare!" Kayden says in a warning tone but I ignore him and continue. "... reject you Alpha Kayden Byron..." "Rain stop!" He shouts and rushes over to me. "...as my mate."
I hold my chest and grunt with my eyes closed, feeling the pain that surges through me when she utters those words.
Topen my eyes. She is looking back at me with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry but this is what we both should have done from the beginning." She whispers.
I growl and punch the wall. My fist goes right through it.
I take my hand out and look at her. "I don't accept it!" I shout. "I will never accept it! You are mine whether you like it or not!"
"Please just go away." She says in a whisper turning back to the wall whimpering.
I close my eyes and take a deep breath. "I'm not going anywhere." I whisper and sit on a chair trying to compose myself because right now, I'm very angry.
(I can't believe she just did that. She's mine and I will never accept her rejection.) "Rain did they..." The doctor starts but stops.
"Rape me? No. They were stopped in time... again." She says obviously wanting to get this conversation over with.
"... Again?" I stop and take a deep breath. (What?! I though... I thought this was the first time but... they've done this before?)
I'm blinded by rage, I get up and throw the chair hitting the wall feeling immense anger coursing through my entire body. "Alpha, if you can't control yourself, then you need to leave." The doctor says but it doesn't do much to calm me.
"How! How am I supposed to control myself?!" I yell at her. She stares at me and waits for me to calm down.
I look at my battered mate. She is hurt and in pain and they have done this before? And no one has f*****g noticed?
I take deep breaths and lean my back on the wall staring at the floor feeling like I want to punch something again.
(I'm killing him, I'm killing that son of a bitch.) "Rain, I need to see your wounds." The doctor says. "No, not with him here." She says. "Goddammit!" I shout and I finally leave the room.
(I'm angry, but not at her, even though her wanting me to leave annoyed me.)
I pace outside of the room waiting and thinking about all the many ways I can torture Evan. A few minutes later, the doctor opens the door and I walk back in.
"I want her to stay overnight, but the wounds aren't bad, she will recover by tomorrow." The doctor says, she then walks over to me and starts to whisper.
"Alpha she will need some time. She doesn't trust people easily especially men, never has. So you are going to need lots of patience. Think of her as a..... broken mirror, you have to be patient and put the pieces together."
I take a deep breath and nod. (She says this to me, me! The most impatient person in the world.)
