Chapter Royal Pursuit
The next morning, under the soft hues of dawn, General Oromon and King Altair set forth on their journey towards the Silverbark Forest. As they traversed the bustling streets, a peculiar sight caught the king’s attention – a pendant on display among various wares. Strangely familiar, he dismounted his horse, prompting his men to follow suit.
King Altair, his gaze fixed on the pendant, felt a surge of recognition. Without hesitation, he reached for the relic, and in an instant, the vendors and citizens in the vicinity knelt before him, acknowledging his royal presence.
“Where did you get this?” the king inquired, his voice steady but demanding. The vendor, initially attempting deception, stammered, “It is one of the fine jewelries crafted by us.”
Undeterred, the king raised his voice, exposing the falsehood. “This is a relic of the Council of 12 with a stone made from Sylvan Star, an exceedingly rare material. Now, speak the truth. How did this pendant come into your possession?”
Terrified, the vendor abandoned the charade, kneeling in submission. “My apologies, my king. A woman took my horse yesterday and gave it to me as payment. I had no knowledge it was a relic. Please forgive me!”
Understanding the vendor’s unwitting involvement, King Altair refrained from punishment. Instead, he paid for the pendant and pressed for information about the woman’s whereabouts. “Tell me, where did the woman go?”
The vendor, now cooperative, responded, “There was commotion yesterday due to the Darkbanes’ attack. Upon hearing it, she hastily mounted my horse, heading toward the site of the Darkbanes’ confrontation.”
With newfound information, King Altair and General Oromon wasted no time. They swiftly embarked on the trail of the mysterious woman, driven by the urgency of unfolding events and the need to unravel the threads connecting the pendant, the Darkbanes, and the escalating conflict.
