Bridging Worlds: Book 1 Celestoria's Time

Chapter Heirs of Celestoria

The city gates of Ignisfell stood as a threshold, and Davhil anxiously awaited the return of Eowyn and Rosche. The sky had already begun to darken, casting long shadows over the cobbled streets. After a few hours of anticipation, the familiar figures emerged on the horizon, riding on horseback. Eowyn, Rosche, and an elderly man named Hargan, whom they had encountered on their journey, approached the city gates.

Davhil couldn’t contain his relief as he rushed forward to greet them.

Eowyn dismounted first, embracing her brother tightly. Davhil reciprocated the hug, his worry dissipating in the warmth of the sibling reunion. Rosche, ever pragmatic, gave Davhil a reassuring pat on the shoulder.

“What took you so long?” Davhil inquired, a mix of concern and curiosity etched on his face.

Eowyn, with a smile, replied, “Got hung up on something, but it doesn’t matter. We’re here now.”

As the group prepared to head to the nearby tavern, Rosche turned to Hargan, who had been standing quietly on the side. “This is Hargan. We met him on our journey, and he’s a citizen of Celestoria.”

Davhil extended a polite greeting. “Nice to meet you, Sir Hargan.”

Hargan, standing humbly, acknowledged the greeting. “The pleasure is mine.”

Rosche, with a thoughtful look, then faced Hargan. “Sir Hargan, would you like to come with us? It’s getting dark, and if you don’t have a place to stay yet, we’re staying in a tavern near the city.”

Hargan, appreciating the gesture, accepted the invitation with a nod. “Thank you for your kindness. I’d be grateful to join you.”

Eowyn, sensing the need to continue their conversation later, interjected, “Let’s go first and talk later.”

As they were about to mount their horses, Davhil remembered something important. “Wait, before I forget.” He handed a poster to Eowyn. “It’s been all over the city.”

Eowyn, her brows furrowing, took a moment to read the contents. The expression on her face shifted from curiosity to concern before passing the poster to Rosche. Rosche, reading the announcement, commented, “So they’re still pushing the two princes to the throne.”

Davhil affirmed her observation with a nod, saying, “Indeed, there’s talk of a forthcoming battle between the two princes to decide who will ascend the throne.”

Rosche’s concern was palpable as she muttered, “That’s gonna be bad.”

Meanwhile, Hargan, who had been silently observing from the side, took out a similar poster from his pocket. It became evident that his arrival in Celestoria was connected to this impending event. The atmosphere shifted, and the group realized that the unfolding political turmoil would impact their journey in ways they had not foreseen.
