Bridging Worlds: Book 1 Celestoria's Time

Chapter Celestoria's Dilemma

As the council discussion grew more intense, opinions clashed and tensions rose. A eunuch interrupted the fervor with an unexpected announcement—the arrival of Consort Rosenda, King Altair’s concubine and mother to the two princes. The room fell into a hushed silence as Consort Rosenda entered, her presence immediately capturing attention. Tension thickened in the air as she took her place, her gaze fixed on Queen Melisandre.

Entering the scene, Consort Rosenda declared, "The changing of succession is a desperate move, unsuitable for resolution. It is not right to alter it out of desperation. The princes are the direct bloodline of King Altair, and they are the only ones who could rightfully ascend to the throne."

The room froze, council members shifting their gaze between Consort Rosenda and Queen Melisandre. The palpable disagreement between the two women threatened to erupt into a heated argument.

Queen Melisandre, defiant, responded, "Consort Rosenda, your unexpected return does not grant you the authority to dictate Celestoria's future. Desperate times call for decisive actions, and Princess Freia is a capable leader."

Consort Rosenda scoffed, "A capable leader? A mere regent daring to undermine the rightful heirs? This is an affront to the royal bloodline!"

Uneasy glances were exchanged among the council members as tension escalated.

Lord Aric attempted to mediate, saying, "Your Majesties, let us find a compromise that serves the best interests of Celestoria."

Ignoring Lord Aric, Consort Rosenda pressed on, "This is not about compromise. It is about preserving the sanctity of our traditions and honoring the rightful heirs."

Queen Melisandre stood firm, "The kingdom’s stability comes before outdated traditions. The princes may not be ready, and we cannot afford to gamble with Celestoria’s future."

Conflicting opinions turned the room into a battleground, with Consort Rosenda and Queen Melisandre engaged in a fierce verbal exchange. Council members watched in uneasy silence, torn between loyalty to tradition and the necessity for change.

Lord Caelum whispered to Lord Aric, "This tension can tear the kingdom apart."

Lord Aric nodded, "We must find a resolution before it is too late."

Just as the argument teetered on the brink of chaos, the atmosphere thickened with suspense. Council members turned their attention, faces etched with anticipation. The room fell into a heavy silence, and the fate of Celestoria hung suspended in uncertainty, the air thick with the unspoken weight of impending revelations.
