Bound by Fire: Burning desire (#2)

Chapter 2

Seeing tears in her eyes made my chest feel uncomfortable. I’ve never had the need to comfort woman. I couldn’t even stand tears. But seeing her like this hit me in a different way. I wanted to take her pain away. I could see her battling with herself since she woke up from her coma. I know she is a proud woman and doesn’t let anyone easily see the other sides she has. For her to show her emotions like this, hopefully, means she trusts me enough to let her guard down. It had been two weeks since we rescued her from her kidnappers. I can’t imagine everything she went through.

Hearing they were missing just messed up my mind. I couldn’t function properly till Vik told me they tracked their location. My heart stopped when I saw the state Daleyza was in. At least Aiden wasn’t harmed physically.

My fists itched to punish the culprit and once I got my hands on him I made sure he felt the pain till his last breath. Thinking about that kusok der’ma (piece of shit) makes my blood burn. I felt Daleyza relax against me. Looking down at her sleeping form caused an unknown sensation in my body. I don’t know what she’s doing to me. I’ve never felt like this before.

From the first moment I’ve laid my eyes on her I have been mesmerized by her. It wasn’t just her beauty it was the whole aura surrounding her. She wasn’t someone who could easily be messed with and she didn’t hide it one bit. She carried herself with grace even though she was half drunk in a club. The moment I tasted her I was addicted. I didn’t know that till she escaped my room the next morning. I craved her, I wanted her again. That is something that never happened to me before. I had my men search for her information and when I learned her identity I was surprised to say the least. Every time she was near I couldn’t think straight. I knew helping her when she asked would be going against what I’ve been taught but I couldn’t hold myself back. She had a hold on me that I couldn’t explain. I rationalized that it would all go away once she is on the other side of the globe. But I was wrong.

Every sexual encounter I had made me think of her and the few moments we shared. I craved her more than before. Soon I found the reason why she wanted to escape and send people to keep an eye on her. I couldn’t keep myself from keeping tabs on her. There was just something about her that held my attention. Seeing pictures of my son growing up always made me smile. I wanted him near but they were safer there. The longer they stay a secret the better. As soon as they associate themselves with me they automatically become targets to get to me.

When their safety there started to waver I had to bring them back. Seeing her for the first time in six years still felt like the first time I laid my eyes on her. I knew she was shocked but I had to do this. Being near her didn’t do my sanity well I just wanted to get lost in her intoxicating presence.

The more I knew about her the more I admired her strength. And when she told me she was a trained assassin I was speechless. She was a force to reckon with. She was strong and brave for the world and she would do anything to protect our son. But at the same time she was a loving and caring mother. Seeing my son I was proud of her to have raised him as he is. I never thought I could have this, a family. I felt a smile on my face as I stared down to their sleeping forms.

That is also something I have been doing a lot since they’ve been in my life. I started smiling more. For the first time in forever I’ve been this happy. Just them being near was enough to brighten my mood. I started drifting off to sleep myself.

Cursing my alarm I turn it off. I stretch my body out as I sit up on the bed. Daleyza was curled up holding on to Aiden tightly. I took a deep breath before getting out of bed. I started my normal morning routine. After a shower I woke Aiden up so he could get ready for school. Daleyza refused to let him go as she clung to him in her sleeping state. She woke up as he attempted to get out of bed. Her eyes were still half shut so I wouldn’t hold it against her if she hadn’t heard a word I said.

“He’s just going to get ready for school. You don’t have to worry.” She blinked a few times before nodding and returning to sleep.

Aiden and I had breakfast and I dropped him off at school. Once I received the message from my men that all of them were where they are stationed I left the school grounds.

After the incident I wanted to pull him out of school. But seeing him moping around being worried about his mom made me worry about him. I strengthened the security and send him back to school. After a week his mood improved quite a bit.

When I returned home Daleyza was already awake and yelling at the help.

“What’s going on here?” the maid scurried away and Daleyza stared at me.

“Where is Aiden?”

“At school.”

“Why would you send him to school?” she sounded annoyed. “He…”

I stood in front of her and held her by the shoulders.

“He’s safe there. I have enough men surrounding the school grounds.” I gently squeezed her shoulders hoping she’ll understand.

“But… But why would you send him back to school. You never wanted to send him before.” Her eyes were wide and pleading for answers.

“Because for the time you were in a coma our son was sad. He didn’t want to talk to anyone. He was refusing his meals because he missed you that much. I put him back in school so his attention could divert a bit. And it worked.”

That silenced her. She stared at me for a moment before bursting out in tears. She quickly tried wiping it all away and hiding it. I pulled her closer and she started sobbing in my embrace. My shirt felt wet due to her tears. I stroked her hair as she tried to get a hold of her emotions.
