Chapter 38
Chapter 38
Naturally, Caroline wouldn’t just run off without her best friend. She picked the hand warmer up
and used it to whack the faces of the people surrounding them.
They were all women and cared very much about their appearances. Hence, they were busy
covering their faces to avoid getting hit. They instantly forgot all about Gwen.
However, Brie had brought too many of them. Caroline and Gwen alone weren’t enough to handle.
all of them. It wasn’t long before Caroline started to feel worn out.
Just then, they heard a loud rush of footsteps coming from outside.
“Quick! Hurry up! Eddy Morrison’s second uncle has returned, and he’s just right in there!”
Someone in the crowd of journalists exclaimed enthusiastically.
They barged in and froze on the spot when they saw the group of women lashing out and pulling
at each other’s hair. This sight made them forget all about the reason they came here.
What the f uck? Ms. Collins and Eddy Morrison’s fiancée were in a brawl! This would surely make
the headlines. They took out their cameras in a hurry, and their flashlights went off as they
snapped photo after photo.
Blinded by the lights flashing in her face, Brie screeched, “Stop! You can’t take pictures of this!
Get them out of here!”
The staff rushed over to chase the journalists away and disperse the crowd that had gathered at
the scene. In the end, Caroline, Gwen, Brie, and a few others were the only ones left in the hall.
Brie started worrying over whether the journalists would report what they’d seen just now. She
turned to leave but almost bumped into the manager of the auction house.
“Ms. Collins,” he said politely, handing her a book. “Thank you for donating 20 million dollars to
the charity auction tonight. You’re much too generous. Please leave your signature here. We’d like
to jot it down since it’s something that’s truly worth remembering.”
Brie stopped in her tracks. “Wait a minute. What did you say? A charity auction?”
“Yes. Don’t you know that every bit of money gained from the bids today will be donated to the
children in need in the countryside? You’ve done an extraordinarily good deed.”
After listening to these words, a smile crept up on Brie’s face. That’s right, she could say that she
purposely raised the bid to 20 million dollars for the sake of these children. Not only would that
stop others from calling her an idiot, but they would also start complimenting her for being kind-
hearted and selfless.
She swiftly took the pen from the manager’s grasp and asked, “Where do I sign?”

Not wanting to become the laughing stock, Brie lifted her paddle in the air again and said, “Five
million dollars!”
A smile made its way to Caroline’s face as she calmly raised her paddle and said, “Ten million
dollars.”
The crowd inhaled sharply. Ten million dollars… Was she out of her mind? Or was the rumor true that she’d gotten herself a rich man and was now capable of squandering so much money?
