Blind Date Turned Proposal

Chapter 917 Kill Her By Collision

She slept restlessly.
Faces of many people appeared in her dreams, including Summer’s, Edward’s, and even Dexter’s. They tormented her nerves,
the agony constantly reverberating through her.
“Ah!” Josie jolted awake.
She glanced at her vibrating phone beside her. A sense of dread washed over her. The caller ID showed it was Morgan calling.
She paused for a moment, got up to pour herself a drink, and answered the call, “What’s up?”
There was a moment of silence on the other end, then quickly came the question. “Your voice sounds off. Did you just wake up?”
Josie glanced at the time, which read five in the afternoon, and denied, “No.”
“I just received news. Edward has disappeared.”
Josie closed her eyes briefly, wanting to say that she knew this news before him, but she still pretended to be puzzled. “Why?”
“He was taken away last night, and his whereabouts are unknown.” There was a probing tone in Morgan’s voice. “You didn’t
know?”
“Arnold will go mad,” Josie chimed in with a cold laugh.
Morgan remained silent for a moment, then said, “It will be a while before I can return to Wavery. You should step out for a bit.
Go somewhere.”
After hanging up the phone, he sent her an address. It was the same office building where they had met last time. It was his
workplace in Wavery.
After tidying up, Josie stepped out of her house. Her destination was close enough to reach by foot. As she walked, she couldn’t
shake off the feeling of being watched. Yet, every time she turned around, there was no one in sight.
She turned the corner and hid at the entrance of the alley, waiting for quite a while. Sure enough, a man quietly followed her,
looking like someone who was proficient in combat.
He didn’t find Josie and quickly left.

Josie let out a sigh of relief and continued to move forward.
At that critical moment, she couldn’t determine who was tracking her.
Having managed to slip away from the crowd, Josie breathed a sigh of relief and strode down the street. Unbeknownst to her, a
black Santana was suddenly speeding toward her from a distance, heading straight for her.
Whoosh!
The screeching halt of a vehicle startled Josie. She turned around, only to see a white car abruptly blocking a Santana, both
vehicles alarmingly close to her.
If it weren’t for the white car, the Santana might have hit her.
Josie’s pupils dilated.
Knowing the attempt had failed, the Santana quickly turned around and left.
She was still feeling a lingering fear.
The window of the white car rolled down, revealing a familiar face. “Get in.”
“Mallory?” Josie was surprised, taking a seat. “What are you doing here?”
“I came here on business and happened to see you,” Mallory said, her brows furrowed. “What’s going on? If it weren’t for me,
that car would have killed you.”
Speaking of that, Josie was equally startled. “In my current situation, I don’t even know who wants to harm me.”
Mallory let out a sigh. “Any progress?”
Josie wasn’t sure how to describe it. “Not quite. By the way, can you do me a favor?”
Mallory listened attentively.
After listening, she chuckled. “So, you’re asking me to do some research for the competitor?”

Josie gave a bitter smile. “I can’t return Sky Palace, but I must get my hands on that document. Arnold probably doesn’t even
know I’ve taken it yet.”
Mallory was confident. “Wait for my message.”
Josie watched her drive away before she entered the office building. She asked Ryan for the elevator card, and only then did she
enter Morgan’s office.
His office was very tidy, with hardly any objects around.
Ryan guided her to open the laptop on the table, then handed her a pair of headphones. “Instructions from Mr. Bastille.”
Josie furrowed her brows. “What is this?”
