Chapter 101 –
Paxton's
POV
As Clay was driving us to the gate, I took the opportunity to ask again. "Did one of you tell someone what we did?"
I cannot believe that Cara happened to be in there while we were talking about it. It was too coincidental. One of them had to have said something to someone. Rex had admitted that he could barely hear us talking while he was in the laundry room."Why would I mention it, Paxton? I'm the one who carried it out. I saw her face, Paxton. Brenna hates me, and she will never forgive me. No wonder they ran away from us and refused to return when we caught up to them at Black Adder. They already knew what we had done. Clay made the plan up, and you ordered me to do it. That kept both of your hands cleaner than mine," Rex snarled out.
"We are all just as guilty as the next," Clay drawled out. He was unconcerned, as if this was going to go away.
"Right, because thinking of it and doing it are the same thing," Rex countered.
"We ALL did it. I never thought anyone, let alone Cara and her sisters, would find out. We need to figure a way out of this because our plan hasn't changed. They may be mad now, but we can work around it. I am sure Lisa has more of whatever she used on me last time."If you're reading this on any site other than Job, this content has been stolen! I was a willing participant with her that night until it was out of my system the next morning. I will have her get more of it. If she corrects her behavior, I will agree to sleep with her once a week and let her keep her title. I will condition it with the stipulation that she has to agree to keep buying the drugs for us to use. That way we still get the girls to sleep with us, without a fight. I am not going to fight Cara. I don't want to hurt her. Eventually, they will see that being with us is what their life will be like from now on. I will never allow them to leave Kamaria again," I asserted.
I mindlinked additional warriors to come to the gate to assist with some intruders. I know about the Black Adder pack. I looked into them after I knew the girls went there. They were an impressive pack; if I hadn't wanted Cara so much, I might have given up after looking into them. Luckily, Lena called, and everything just fell into place after that. I am just as good an Alpha as Jaxon is, if not better. Could we use more training? Yes, and I am going to make sure that happens. I wouldn't say I liked how he was so respected in our community. He was two years younger than I was. How could he be a better Alpha?
Just like I hadn't given up on getting Cara back, I knew they wouldn't give up on getting their mates back. We pulled up about thirty feet away from the gate. When I approached and saw them standing there, I remembered how that fucking jerk refused to let me enter his pack. It's time for me to take him down a peg or two. "What can I do for you, Alpha Jaxon?" I asked with a smirk.
"You know exactly why we are here, Paxton. Give us our mates back, or I swear you will be sorry. You better pray that none of them are hurt," Jaxon replied.
"I don't know what you are talking about, Jaxon. Your mates are not here. Why would they be? We left them with you at Black Adder. Don't tell me they ran away from you too?" I mocked him and maintained an innocent expression.
Jaxon and Kevin lunged forward toward me as if they were going to climb over the gate to get to me. I kept the smile on my face but mindlinked for more warriors at the gate. They would not go peacefully, and I needed to think of another approach.
"Why are you even here? If you honestly thought that they were here, why didn't you go to file an official report with the Werewolf Council? I don't know where they are, but they are not here," I told Jaxon. I had to work hard to keep the smirk off my face. "They are indeed here. Paxton is lying to you," I heard a voice call out behind me. I turned around to see Lisa walking up to the gate. Her car was parked behind mine and she was here on a mission. I tried to grab her arm, but she broke free and stepped up to the gate. "They are cold, hungry, and scared, but they are not hurt, Alpha Jaxon. I am sorry that my idiot mate did this. I am asking for you not to blame the Kamaria pack for the actions of a few," Lisa appealed to Jaxon, kneeling down in front of the gate.
"Get up! Stop shaming us in front of them. This is my pack, Lisa. You are just a symbol, a figurehead. You don't speak for me, or my pack," I thundered at her.
Lisa has wholly forgotten her place. I yanked her up from the ground, back up onto her feet. Her yelp of pain surprised me. I didn't pull on her that hard. I looked at her upper arm to see that my claws were digging into her flesh. I quickly released her, but the look she gave me spoke volumes. She was furious. I guess I pushed her too far this time, but she had no right telling Jaxon they were there. He may have suspected it, but he didn't know for sure until she told them. Why would she tell him that if she didn't want a battle to happen?
"You are more of a figurehead than me, Paxton. You may do the paperwork and make decisions, but this pack has declined since you took over. You won't allow me to help. I understood why you held me at arm's length. You were angry that I couldn't be silenced like the other she- wolfs you slept with. I tried to be the Luna you needed, but you refused to allow me to do it. I have wanted to be your mate for the last ten years. I don't think you appreciated anything I did for you. You still don't, and I am sick of it. You want me gone, fine. You can reject me, and I will accept it, but I am not leaving this pack. You took three mated women. Now you want to act surprised that their mates are here. I see now that I fell in love with a dream. I saw your attractive face and thought you would be a good mate. I was wrong. There is no good in you. We can reject each other after you return them to their mates," Lisa told me.
I stood there stunned. Lisa had never spoken to me like that. I can tell by how she looks at me that she is completely serious right now. She loved me; I know she did, but she doesn't anymore. She can't be serious about rejecting me. No, I am going to reject her first. I am leaving her ass. I never wanted to make her my Luna in the first place. I am sick of seeing her and hearing her annoying voice. Before I could speak, someone interrupted.
"If you want to leave here, you can. Considering your background with Cara and Brenna, I will take you to live in my pack, Black Moon. As long as Luna is OK with it," Kevin announced.
"If she won't allow it, Kevin. I will take her into Blood Tracker. Can you fight?" Trevor asked. Everyone is staring at him after his surprise announcement.
"No, I never had to, so I didn't learn. But I am the daughter of the Gamma, so I should be able to learn quickly," Lisa replied, ignoring me. I would not stand here and allow them to disrespect me like that, especially not Lisa. I went to slap her, and my arm stopped on its descent, still raised in the air.
"Sorry, Alpha, but I can't allow you to do that," a voice came from above.
I looked up to see a vampire standing on the wall above the gate. I hadn't noticed her there before, but I don't take orders from vampires.
"Clay, please deal with Lisa for me. I will not allow her to disrespect me like this," I seethed out.
"Do you think I can only stop one person at a time, Alpha?" the dark-haired beauty asked mockingly. She let her eyes flash with power, and I realized no one could move. They were not silent about it. This was not good.
"Look, they might be here. They may not. But I am not allowing any of you onto my packland to check. You can take Lisa with you, as I no longer have any use for her. She lied and tricked me into claiming her, then failed to provide me with heirs. You can have her, but no one else will enter or leave my pack today. You can go try to report me to the Council. By the time they arrive, I can promise we will have already been with your mates. Now release us and leave here. This stupid discussion is now over," I told them.
I was already mindlinking Rex's father to contact the Werewolf Council about them being here. I might get a slap on the wrist, but I still have Cara here. That was all that mattered to me anyway. The Council may force Rex and Clay to return Brenna and Luna to their true mates. But the council had no control over Cara. The only thing Rex and Clay could hope for was that their true mates might not want them anymore after feeling the betrayal pains. Cara was not mated to a wolf so they couldn't interfere with her. They would look the other way on my keeping her. They didn't look favorably towards vampires.
"Sorry, no can do. I work at my discretion. I sensed a threat, so I stopped you. Only my leader can call me off, as he trusts me. You are just going to have to accept it for the moment," she responded with a grin.
"Well, who the hell is your leader?" I snapped out in anger. They couldn't do this to me in my pack. I won't allow it."I'm right behind you," a calm voice replied.
