Chapter 129
Chapter 129
62 Punishment
Evelyn POV
We reach the Nightfire pack and Tyson lowers to the ground so I can slide off. He rubs his snout against my belly before he shifts
back into Hudson. “Tyson is excited about our cub” Hudson says before he kisses me softly. Cayden and Hudson grab shorts
from behind a tree and we head to the pack house. Eli and Calliope are waiting for us. “Welcome back, Alpha Evelyn”, Eli says,
and I roll my eyes. I pull him into a hug. He will always be my son. He gave Clara more happiness than he will ever know and I
will always be grateful for her time with him. I’m so happy that the goddess gave him a second chance with Calliope. I know my
daughter and she wants him to be happy. Calliope is an amazing woman and I know she will treat my granddaughter like she is
her own pup. I pull her into a hug. “I will have the warriors bring the man I assume is the Beta of Cresent Moon out here to speak
with you before you address the remaining warriors”, Eli says, and I nod. A few minutes later, Leland steps out of the pack house
followed by a warrior. As soon as he sees me, he drops his gaze. He was always a good Beta and friend to me. I have no idea
what Grant told him, but I’m sure he didn’t have all the details of what Grant did to me. “Leland, I need to speak to you about the
pack and everything that happened.” “I’m so sorry, Luna” he says but never picks his head up to look at me.
“Leland, I need you to look at me.” A few seconds pass before he finally makes eye contact with me. He looks so defeated.
“Grant is dead. I know you were loyal to him but he was not the man you thought he was.” “I know that now, Luna.” Cayden
growls and I place my hand on his arm. Leland looks between us and I smile. “Leland, this is my son Cayden and my mate
Hudson”, I say pointing at each of them. I can see the confusion on Leland’s face as he stares at Cayden. He watched me suffer
after I lost my pups. He tried to help me as it was part of his job to protect his Luna. We became good friends and I’m sure if he
knew what Grant had done, he wouldn’t have stood by his side. “The twins didn’t die, Leland. Grant gave them to a rogue. He
didn’t want to raise another man’s pups. He wasn’t even my second chance mate.” He growls and I can see his wolf is at the
surface. He takes a few deep breaths to calm himself down. “I hope you made him suffer before you killed his pathetic a**”
Leland says and I smile. “He is in the past but we need to talk about the future of the pack. Killing Grant has made me the Alpha
of the Crescent Moon.” Leland bares his neck to me. “I would like for you to remain my Beta, Leland. Hudson will also be Alpha
of the pack by my side.” “I would be honored to be your Beta, Alpha Evelyn.”
Eli leads us down to the cells and it looks like about forty warriors survived the attack. I’m sure the women and children are in the
bunkers back on the pack lands. They will wait for the warriors to return before they come out of the bunker. “Alpha Grant is
dead. He has committed crimes not only against me, his former Luna, but against my pups.” I hate to talk about the past but I
need the pack to understand how we got here. They need to understand just how evil and delusional Grant truly was. As I
recount all of Grant’s offenses, I see warriors looking around at each other and at Leland. “I know that this is hard for all of you.
Grant only showed you what he wanted you to see. He did that to me for many years. I am now the Alpha of the Crescent Moon
as is my right for killing Grant. Alpha Eli has been gracious enough to spare all of you despite the attack on the Nightfire Pack. I
promise to be fair and to treat each and every one of you with respect. Beta Leland has graciously accepted to remain the pack
Beta by my side.” The warriors look at him and he nods. You could hear a pin drop before the warriors begin to drop to their
knees and bare their necks to me.
Octavius POV
Bryer’s coven members have finally arrived and tomorrow I will be rid of the two-half breeds. I don’t care if we have to level that
entire pack of mutts. I wish I knew that Grant was so weak. If he had just killed those two ba**ards when he had the chance,
none of this would be happening. They should never have existed. Theo was pathetic for giving into that damn mate bond. I
head to my room and straight into my bathroom. Once I’m showered, I slide into bed and pull the covers over myself. I’m almost
asleep when I’m alerted by the patrolling warlock that the coven has been breached. It’s not possible. I did the protection spell
myself after Selma escaped. I teleport myself to the yard after I tell Bryer and his sniveling father to move their a**es. As soon as
I’m outside of the mansion, I step back. Twenty of my warlocks are dead on the ground and I can feel an immense power
radiating from the woods. More of my men pour out of the mansion and I raise my hand to shield us. They haven’t showed
themselves yet, but I can feel their power. “Show yourselves” I scream into the dark of night. The only thing I can hear is the wind
rushing through the trees. I wave my hand and try to light up the area surrounding the coven but I’m being blocked.
After a few minutes, Selma steps out of the trees with a smug smile on her f**king face. She will be the first one I kill. She can
join her weak brother. “You little b**ch, what have you done?” “Now uncle, is that anyway to speak to your niece.” Before I can
say another word, five people step out of the trees to stand behind Selma. One is Bryer’s brother but I have no idea who the
other five are. What I do know is, the three women are powerful. They may be powerful, but they can’t take on the entire coven.
“Uncle, these are the witches and warlock from the Nightfire pack. Lily, Pheobe, Rose, and John, this is my piece of sh*t uncle,
Octavius. They are from the pack where my nephew and niece live. I’ve told them all about what you plan to do to Cayden and
Faith.” “You are betraying your own kind for some mongrels. Do you really think I’m afraid of a few witches?” The woman with
long black hair steps next to Selma and waves her hand. Twenty of the warlocks standing next to me fall to the ground. “How can
you do this to your own brother” Bryer screams and his brother laughs. “You marked my beloved against her will. I’m going to
take great pleasure ending your life, Bryer” he says. I can’t worry about their bickering. This isn’t over, but I won’t stay here to be
slaughtered. I attempt to teleport but my magic isn’t working. My eyes meet the blonde witch’s and she smirks at me. “You
weren’t trying to run away, were you Octavius,” the woman says.
I raise my hand and start to throw energy balls one after another. Every time they get close, the warlock knocks them away.
What the hell is this? They start to move toward us and I see Selma’s eyes turn a deep purple. My body stiffens and I feel like I’m
on fire. “What the f**k are you doing to me” I manage to rasp out. “I’m showing you exactly what happens when you f**k with my
family. You killed Theo, your own nephew. You are a monster. I pray that the goddess tortures you every day of eternity for all
you have done.” I can see warlocks running towards the woods, but it’s futile. They are bursting into flames all around me. Bryer
is fighting his brother and his father is lying dead a few feet away. Bryer flies toward a tree and when he lands, I can see that his
neck is broken. How could this all have gone so wrong? Selma is right in front of me now and I’m barely holding on as the air is
sucked from my lungs. She looks into my eyes with pure hatred before I fall into darkness. I can hear sounds around me but the
darkness is thick like soup. I feel like I’m drowning in it. The darkness clears for a moment and I’m in what looks like a throne
room. The throne is made of tree branches and it’s covered in flowers. Maybe I’m not dead. Selma has always been weak. She
probably just knocked me out but didn’t have it in her to actually kill me. When I wake up from this, they will all pay.
“Even in death you are a ba**ard” I hear a voice from behind me. A woman with long flowing red hair steps to the chair and takes
a seat. “Where am I?” “You, Octavius, are here in the in-between realm for judgement. I have watched all you have done to my
children with great disgust.” “Selene” I say on a whisper. “I’m surprised such an evil man knows my name. I go to speak and she
silences me with a wave of her hand. “You will not speak. There is nothing that you can say that will change your punishment.” A
woman with curves and tangled hair steps to her right side. Her eyes are black and her teeth look like they have never been
brushed. She holds a whip in one hand and chains in the other. “Octavius, this is Tanith, the Goddess of Torture. You have been
found guilty of unforgivable crimes against not only your family but my children. You will spend eternity with Tanith and she will
ensure that you experience every bit of pain that you inflicted on others.” The woman walks toward me and wraps the chain
around my neck. The darkness consumes me for the first time, I feel fear of what is to come.
