Chapter Benson 65
Chapter 65 Choices Under Pressure
“What should we talk to her about?” Benson sat upright at his desk, smiling at George.
His smile held a hint of barely noticeable tension, as he was all too familiar with this kind of smile–it was a prelude to an outburst
George knew that Benson’s smile indicated his inner discontent and repression were about to explode.
George silently pushed the agreement back and then stood aside without saying a word..
Benson rubbed his temples with his fingers, feeling a bit irritated.
His emotions had been unusually complex lately. On the one hand, he missed the old Yvonne dearly. Whether it was the radiant Yvonne before marriage or the one who dressed up beautifully every time he came home after their wedding, always smiling gently to please him, hoping he would look at her a little longer.
During those days, every move Yvonne made was filled with love and anticipation for him, making him feel incredibly happy and content.
However, reality was harsh. As time passed, Yvonne’s attitude changed. She was no longer as enthusiastic and proactive as before. She even avoided him when he needed her.
This made Benson very disappointed and pained. He began to wonder if he hadn’t done. enough, if he hadn’t given Yvonne enough care and support.
In truth, Benson missed his old self even more, Back then, he was confident and decisive, full of hope and longing for the future.
But now, he cared too much about Yvonne. Even out of mere interest, he paid too much attention to her.
He found himself becoming more and more sensitive, increasingly affected by Yvonne’s
emotions.
The incident with Mary’s “pregnancy” completely caught him off guard.
Yvonne either hid at the her family like a child or treated this matter as “business” and sent an assistant directly.
He had to admit that Yvonne’s beauty and excellence had indeed attracted him.
But he didn’t want to deal with feelings anymore.
After searching for “her” for so many years, it was always in vain. He missed her, yet he couldn’t avoid forgetting her.
“How’s the investigation going?” he suddenly asked.
George snapped back to reality. “Still investigating. Some crucial information is being.

confirmed.”
Benson fell silent. George pursed his lips, “Why are you suddenly investigating Mrs. Taylor? She hardly fits any of the criteria.”
“Can I fantasize? I fantasize that the two are the same person, and everyone lives happily ever after!” Benson glanced at him. “When did you start talking like her? If you can’t speak properly, shut up!”
George: “I’ve always been like this. Clearly, it’s you.”
Benson suddenly stood up, his voice carrying an undeniable firmness. “What’s wrong with me? Tell me clearly.” His gaze was sharp, as if he could see through George’s thoughts. “You’re now infatuated with Mrs. Taylor. You see her shadow in everyone…” George said as
he ran out.
At the door, he poked his head back in, his tone tinged with advice, “It’s been so many years. I think you can move on. If you don’t want to search anymore, starting a new life is also good. Mrs. Taylor is very good.” His voice through the door crack carried warmth and understanding, trying to soothe Benson’s pain.
Benson stood in the center of the room, his eyes empty as if tightly bound by past memories.
His hands trembled slightly, unable to control his emotions. A book flew across the room. George quickly shut the door.
The book hit the door with a dull thud, reflecting Benson’s inner struggle and helplessness. Inside the room, Benson slowly sat down, his gaze falling on the book on the floor. The pages were open, revealing yellowed paper and blurred writing.
His heart was filled with complex emotions, a mix of nostalgia for the past and confusion about the future. He knew George was right, but he couldn’t easily let go of his obsessions. Megan returned, conveying Benson’s message, her eyes filled with worry.
She knew Yvonne’s emotions must be very complicated. After all, such news is not easy for anyone to accept.
Yvonne lay on her desk for a long time before coldly laughing, “Ha, husband and wife? Is there such a thing?” Her voice was filled with deep disappointment and self–mockery.
Her fingers tapped the desk unconsciously, as if seeking a way to vent.
Megan knew exactly what she meant. Even couples in loveless marriages gave each other dignity.
She sighed softly, trying to comfort Yvonne, “Miss Yvonne, I know you’re very sad right now, but you must understand, Mr. Benson…”
Yvonne interrupted her, “Mary came with an early pregnancy report to bully me all coluiss

on Benson’s power. If he had any regard for me, this wouldn’t have been handled so humiliatingly.” Her voice was filled with helplessness and anger.
“Miss Yvonne, there aren’t many matters this afternoon. How about you take a break?” Megan said softly, trying to relieve Yvonne’s stress.
She knew Yvonne had been under a lot of pressure lately, not just from work but also from her marriage issues with Benson.
Her eyes were filled with concern, hoping Yvonne could temporarily put these troubles aside and get some rest.
“Hide from Mary?” Yvonne propped up her head, her tone carrying a hint of disdain, “Have some backbone, will you?” Her voice revealed determination and resilience.
She didn’t want to avoid anymore. She didn’t want Mary’s actions to affect her life and work.
Her eyes sparkled with resolve, as if telling herself to face any difficulties bravely.
“The last time she came to the office, she scratched your hand. Now this. If she comes again and does something bad, wouldn’t it just add to the trouble? Megan’s tone was filled with worry.
She was concerned about Yvonne’s safety and worried that Mary’s behavior would bring more trouble to Yvonne.
Her brows furrowed, her heart filled with unease.
Yvonne sighed. It was indeed troubling. She had had enough of it all, of Mary’s unreasonable actions, of Benson’s coldness and neglect.
She decided not to endure anymore, not to avoid it. She wanted to fight for her rights.
“Go through the legal process for divorce. Let the lawyer talk to him.” Her voice was firm. Her tone was resolute and calm, as if she had already made up her mind.
She knew that with the company and her in–laws involved in the marriage, she had always been in a passive position.
She didn’t want this passive state to continue She wanted Benson to know that she was no longer the Yvonne who could be manipulated.
Amidst the intertwining emotions and entanglements, she realized she no longer had any emotional waves for Benson.
Her heart was filled with peage and relief, as if she had let go of all burdens.
Facing the unexpected arrival of new life in the family. Yvonne’s already fragile marriage seemed unable to bear this sudden pressure.
In this situation, Yvonne could only choose to dissolve the marriage through legal and file for divorce.
