Chapter 34
WES
“Are you sure you want to do this?” Thea asks as we walk through the training unit.
“Uh…Hell ya! I’ve been waiting my whole life for something like this to happen and the thought of unleashing it on Grey…Shivers…” I shake, suck in a breath and grin.
“You don’t know how to control it, Wesley. You could hurt him.” She throws her hands out. She turns to me. “Wes!”
I shake my head and smile. “Sorry, baby. I was picturing Grey crying in the grass. You were saying?”
She slaps my arm. “Wes, this is serious. My powers aren’t to be played with.” She warns.
I open the metal door to the field and let her out first. “Don’t worry. I’m not going to break anything. I'm just paying him back for some things he’s wronged me on.”
“According to you, that’s everything!” She stops and flops her hands to her sides.
I lean close to her lips and grin sinisterly. “I know.” I kiss her quick and leave for the field.
“Wes!”
As the interrogation of Artemis continues, I figure, now is great time to test the gift that Thea gave me. Who knew being bitten by a radioactive nymph would be so cool. I’ve been slowly learning to control it and figure out where it comes from. It's not 100 percent, but it’ll do for what I need right now.
I walk to the edge of the field with a smirk on my lips and rub my hands together. I drop my trainers bag by feet and scope the field for Grey.
When I see him, I can barely hold it in. We scheduled this showdown last night and I can’t wait. I puff out my chest, flick my cut off and project the confidence of an Alpha.
I pull out my phone and hit play. The music blares from my hand as I strut out to meet him.
He sees me coming and shakes his head.
He crosses his arms and arches a brow when I enter his space. I mirror my twin. The one person I’ve wanted to one up my whole life.
He looks me over. “Ready?” He says sarcastically.
The corner of my lip ticks up. “I was born ready.” I give my best bad dude impression and bounce my head.
He kicks a leg out and flops his arms to his sides. “No, you weren’t. You literally got your powers 3 days ago.” He back hands my chest.
I throw up my hands, groan and hit stop on my phone. “Way to kill the mood, Grey.”
“What?” He holds his arms out.
I shake my head. “Whatever. Let’s do this.”
I hand my phone to Thea who looks like she’s going to explode with worry.
“Wes, please be careful.” She pleads.
I wave her off as I square up with Grey. “Don’t worry, baby. I have everything under control.”
Grey rushes me and I throw out my hands to push out my power. Nothing happens and Grey hits me like a truck. We slam into the grass and his heavy ass body lands on me, making me groan loud.
“That didn’t count…” I grit as I push him off.
He laughs and stands up. “Come on, superman.” He says, bouncing on his toes.
I roll to my feet and stand up. I stretch out my chest and back. “I got this…You got lucky.”
“This is like that time you went to drama camp for three weeks while I trained with dad.” He grins.
I throw a hand on my hip. “It wasn’t drama camp, it was creative writing camp.” I squint.
“Whatever. I kicked your ass when you got back and I’m kicking your ass now.” He walks back and forth all cocky.
“Just run at me again.” I square up and find my center. The place I feel the heart of the tree. I feel Thea. Her warmth and love. The magic that she creates and how much I’m in love with her.
Like time slows down, Grey runs at me. I close my eyes and feel it build. I slowly raise my hand, open my eyes and lock them with Greys. I blow out a breath and fire my power in his direction.
I feel it flow out of me like shooting a gun. The power crosses the decreasing gap and hits Grey in the chest. He flies back and his ass skids across the grass. He raises his head and flops back down.
“Yeah! Who’s kicking who’s ass?!” I strut back and forth in front of him.
He gets up. “Ok. You got some game.” He stands on his feet and walks back to our spar patch.
I feeling damn good now.
“Let’s see what else you got.” He crooks his fingers at me to take offense.
I blow out a breath, shake my limbs out and stretch my neck. I bend down, eye him up and rush him. He swings, I block his arm with my forearm and hit him with a right. He pushes me off and throws a left. He connects and it hurt, but not as much as it used to.
I sucker punch him and wrap my arms around his chest. I lift him up and over. Suplexing him into the dirt. I have never been able to do that to Grey ever.
He holds his back and coughs. I get to my feet. “Don’t tell me you tap." I say as I stretch my arms out.
“No. Oh, fuck no…” He rolls to his feet. “All you’re doing, Wesley, is pissing me off.” He growls and rushes me.
I lift a foot. “Don’t call me…” I slam my sneaker into his chest and kick him hard. “Wesley!” He flies back and rolls across the grass like a fucking bouncy ball.
“Whoa!”
“Yeah!”
A round of applause came from behind me. I stand with my arms crossed and nod to all the people behind me.
I watch Grey get up. He walks to me rubbing his chest. “You think you’re something, don’t you?” He sizes me up and tries to make himself large.
“I know I’m something.” I smirk.
Mia joins Theas side. “What’s going on?”
“Wes is testing his powers…on Grey.” Thea sighs and points between us.
“What? No!” She steps in front of Grey. “No. Grey…We talked about this.” She says as she walks backwards. She points in his face. “You and Wes are not allowed to spar together.”
He gently pushes his mate aside. “It’s fine, Mia. It’s almost over.”
“Damn right it is.” I square up again.
“Why can’t they fight together?” Thea asks.
“Because the last time they fought like this, they trashed a blue moon ball and Wes ended up in traction for the night while I bailed my darling mate out of jail!….Grey!” She stomps her foot.
We clash in a wrestling hold, trying to trip each other up. I get him in a headlock and drag him to the ground. I wrap my legs up his and slam my arm in his neck. “You give?” I grit as he tries to get out of my hold.
“No…” He chokes. “You’re…a…pussy!” He growls and breaks free.
“Oh, I’m the pussy?” I get to my feet. “Would a pussy do this?” I shove my hands out in front of me and my power hits him. I close my hands and raise them above my head.
Grey lifts off the ground to about 10 feet in the air.
“WES! PUT ME DOWN!! RIGHT FUCKING NOW!” He yells as his arms and legs flail.
I tick my head. “Ok.”
I drop my arms and he falls to the ground. He bounces on impact.
“WESLEY!” Thea and Mia yell.
The crowd we gathered, cringes and groans at the sight.
Grey coughs as he plants his hands under him. “You’re dead now.” He rolls his head to me.
“NO! GREY, STOP!” Mia orders.
He runs at me and I call all my power. I brace myself and wait for his opening. I see it and I uppercut his chin. I didn’t even feel my fist connect. He flies almost his height into the air and lands on his back.
He can barely breathe.
I look at my fist and then him with wide eyes. “I’m a Super Saiyan.” I say with shock.
I narrow my eyes and walk over to Grey. I place my sneaker on his chest. Leaning down to him, I point in his face. “That’s for stealing my spider man action figure.” I growl.
“What?” He winces. “You can’t be serious.”
“Dead serious.” I snarl. “You knew it was limited edition. You left it outside and dad ran over it with the lawn mower. Paybacks a bitch.” I push my foot into his chest for one last dig and walk away.
“You’re a dick, Wes!” He calls to my bad.
“No, Grey. I’m just bad to the bone.” I smirk as I throw my arm around Theas neck and walk off the field.
The crowd cheers and claps.
****
“Where are we going, Thea? I didn’t know we'd be hiking. You know, the eagles not much better than the bug. I feel my burger about to repeat.” I swallow as I rub my stomach.
“You’re so whiney.” She giggles.
“I’m not whiney.” I whine.
She giggles even more.
“I’m showing you where your power comes from and how you need to use it. That fight with Grey the other day is not something you should get used to. You need to connect with the origins of the magic and I’m showing you what that means.”
“Ok.” I agree. I’m curious, but weirded out at the same time. She has my hand and pulling me through the trees of her forest. It’s very awake this morning. There’s all kinds of birds and things, singing and scurrying about their day. The sun shines through the leaves and dances on the forest floor. Thea’s so happy to be dragging me out here. As long as it makes her happy, I’ll play along.
We get to a path and she spins around to face me. She points to the ground. “This spot right here is where I started on my journey to you.” She pushes her finger into my chest.
“Oh, yeah?” I slide my hands into my pockets.
She nods. “Yep. My adventure to Wesley Andrews.” She bites her lip and wraps her arms around my waist.
I look into her sparkling eyes. “My adventure to you.” I run a lock of her hair through my first two fingers. I slide my hand onto her jaw and neck and kiss her deep.
She pushes me back. “We aren’t there yet.”
She turns down the path and breaks into the treeline.
“Thea, where….” I stop when I see a gorgeous pond. We’re talking lily pads the whole bit. Frogs croak and the water sparkles in the sun. “What.” I say as I push a brush branch out of the way and step onto the bank.
“This is my pond. That’s my rock over there.” She points to it and looks at me.
“This is where you live?”
She nods.
She walks up to me and grabs my hands. She pulls me to the water.
“What are you doing?” I chuckle and try to stop her.
“It’s OK. Trust me.” She smiles.
“Trust you.” I tilt my head to her.
“Yes. Trust me.” She pulls us to the waters edge and stops. “Close your eyes.” She leans to me and whispers.
“Why?” I say quietly.
“Just do it.” She reaches up and softly runs her fingertips down my eyelids.
“Ok. Eyes closed.” I smile.
“Feel your power. Feel it wrap all around you like a bubble. Breathe normally and relax.” She voice was soft and airy.
I relax everything and call my power. I feel it surround me. This is so surreal.
I feel her slowly pull me forward.
“Thea.”
“Shhhh…Just feel the power.” She instructs.
I don’t know why, but somehow this is hot as fuck to me. I don’t know exactly what I’m feeling right now, but it’s like Thea and I are hitting a deeper connection.
I continue to walk with her and she stops. “Ok. Open your eyes.”
I slowly open my eyes and look around. “Oh my god.”
I look down at my boots. I’m walking on fucking water!
My eyes widen. “What?”
“This is just the start, Wes.” She places her hand on my chest over my heart. “Feel it, Wes. Feel the magic.” The sun lights up her skin and she couldn’t be any more beautiful than she is right now.
I place my hand on hers.
“You feel it?”
I nod and smile. “Yes. This is amazing.” It’s like everything around us just woke up. The trees, grass, flowers, everything. I feel life. I feel love. I feel Thea. Our bond makes everything just that much more special. My eyes float around the edge of the pond to the forest beyond it. It’s like I’m seeing it through Theas eyes. Stuff normal people can’t see. I see how alive everything is. Like I can see souls in everything.
I turn back to my beautiful mate. My face softens. “Thank you.” I whisper.
“It’s your eyes, Wes. Your heart. It opened. Don’t thank me. You did that.” She places a hand on my cheek. I hold it and lean in for a kiss. My lips dance with hers as we stand in the middle of the pond on top of its surface. The sun’s rays paint us in light. The forest particles float around us and the forest fills my chest. My wolf purrs and my love for Thea grows even more.
I deepen the kiss and was so into it, I lost all control of my power.
Like someone opened a trap door, I lost my connection with the surface.
“OH CRAP!”
I fell straight down into the pond. My head went under and I stand. It’s up to my neck. I scrub the water out of my hair and off my face. “Damn it.” I spit water out.
Thea is laughing her ass off from her perch on top of the surface.
I squint my eyes. “Laugh it up, little flower.”
I grab her and pull her down to me. She yelps as she hits the water and goes under. She surfaces and her hair is in her face. She’s laughing with me and I clear her hair from her face. I pull her into me.
“I will forever love you.” I wipe drips from her skin. I kiss her as passionately as I can.
I won’t ever let her go. She will always be my special little flower.
My life has gone off in such a different direction, but I wouldn’t change a thing. Thea made me better. She made me think of other things rather than Alpha or Grey driving me nuts. She makes me focus on myself and her. That’s all I really needed. Who cares if I’m a beta. Who cares if people pay more attention to Grey. Theas attention is the only thing I want. It’s the only thing I need. Her love is what I was missing all these years. Patience was my virtue and understanding was my peace. Grey was right. I’m the only one for Thea because I’m the only one who will take the time and love to really know her and know what she brings to this world.
She’s life. She’s love. She’s innocence and maturity. She’s everything.
Thea is my everything.
