Chapter 179
RYAN
Standing on the other side of the room with a glass partition that isn't see-through, I listened to the officer interrogate Maya.
The case is been taken to court, but we need to figure out if there is a connection between her and the missing twins. The evidence we have pointed at the fact that she might be my father's murderer, but it didn't mention anything about the kids.
"Do you know this man?" the detective asked, sliding a picture of Clover to him. She glanced down at the picture and shook her head. "please take a look at it and take your time before answering." He advised her.
Maya, clearly pissed and trying not to give too much away stared at the picture again. "I just told you that I do not know that man."
Detective nodded. "If you don't mind me asking, who pays the rent for where you stay with your mother?" Folding my hands, I watched Maya closely, knowing that she was slowly walking into the trap the detective was setting for her.
"On the contrary, I do mind." She spat out.
The detective chuckled. "it is too bad that you mind because it does not make any difference whether or not you care. Any question does not answer here, you will still answer in court."
He picked out another document and dropped it in front of her. "You claim not to know this man, but the payment of your rent was traced back to him. How do you not know him, and yet he pays your rent?" She shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "He must be a good Samaritan."
Leaning into his chair, the detective crossed his hands. "Not every good if you ask me, because when we met up with him, the things he had to say about you weren't very good.
"Clover said things about me?" she blurted out, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"I thought you didn't know him?" the detective demanded with a tilt of his head.
"And that is exactly why I am shocked because I do not know this man, yet he has a lot to say about me. Is that even legal?"
"You just mentioned his name." the detective deadpanned. "I intentionally avoided mentioning his name, and you just did."
Frozen to a spot, she just blinked at the man, probably thinking of how to get out of this man. "You did mention his name." She argued.
The detective pointed to the corner of the room. "this conversation is being recorded, I can replay everything to you if I have to. His name was not recorded in the slightest."
"Mr. Williams." I heard someone call out to me. Turning, I noticed an older woman standing by the door. "One Mr. Amell wants to speak with you."
What is Amell doing in New York? One last glance at Maya, I walked out of the room to the reception area, where I found Amell seated.
He rose to his feet when he saw me approaching me. "I am in New York for a quick meeting with my sister's boyfriend, so I figured to find you and let you know about something I found out."
Nodding, I gestured for him to follow me out of the building which he did. "what did you find out?"
"Jake," he replied, "I gathered you know him and that he was a terror to you and Lily."
I hate to remember those moments. "Yes, what about him?"
"Clover was in the same prison with him, and from what I gathered, they were kind of friends in there."
As far as I know, this solidifies my belief that that bastard has my boys. "Thank you for the information, but it does not hold water in court. The judge won't sentence someone because he was friends with his prison mate."
Amell nodded. "I know, but I just figured I should let you know."
"Thanks, man." I tapped his shoulders twice before walking back into the police station.
"All we want to know is if Clover has
the boys, and assure you, we will drop this case." I heard the detective offer as soon
Soon as I walked in. "that
camera is no longer recording, so you can tell us what we need to know."
"How possible is it for Ryan Williams will drop the case on the murder of his father?"
"His father is already dead, but there is a possibility that his sons might still be alive, so that should
explain why he is willing to make this offer with you."
"I need it in writing with this signature before I say anything."
My phone pinged in my pocket and I pulled it out. It was a message from Neo.
WE FOUND THE BOYS.
