Chapter 924
Victoria minded her body figure and weight. However, when it came to delicious food, she was not too picky apart from disliking greasy food. Nevertheless, she would allow herself to enjoy the occasional indulgence.
Therefore, she was very happy to have barbeques, especially the juicy and flavorsome meat. She wolfed down skewers after skewers of barbequed meat. She would even play with the food by leaving a few gaps in between the chunks of meat on the skewer. Trevor couldn't help shaking his head as he watched her eat. "You're eating like a mouse. I haven't seen anyone eat like this."
The way she ate was amusing.
"Huh?" Looking down, Victoria pursed her lips. She felt a little bad, but there was too much fat in the food.
At this time, there was a piece of fat on the skewer in her hand. She stretched her arm and brought the fat chunk to his mouth. "This is for being disgusted by me! You can deal with it then! You should ask the store owner why he placed a lump of fat in the middle of the skewer."
Trevor reached out to eat it, then Victoria continued eating. Seeing that she was eating happily, Trevor called the waiter and whispered a few words in his ear.
Victoria glared at him and demanded, "What do you want? Why are you being so sneaky? Don't tell me you're looking for some kind of weird kidney tonic?"
Soon, the waiter brought over kebabs of grilled meat. She picked up a stick and poked the meat back and forth with it.
"What are you looking at? I ordered it for you! Since you don't like the fats, these are all lean meat."
"Is this mutton?" Looking up, Victoria was still a little surprised. It didn't look like it as it was charred black.
"What else would it be? I added black pepper sauce, the one that you like." Trevor raised his hand and refilled her cup with some water. "Don't worry. Eat slowly, don't choke yourself." "Okay."
Victoria was a little moved. She picked up two more kebabs and began to wolf them down. From time to time, they whispered to each other. The long and enjoyable meal was filled with affection.
After finishing their supper, the two chatted joyfully. They held each other's hands and walked to the car. In the cold midnight, they found the scenery to be beautiful especially with each other's company. They only had each other in their eyes and did not notice that someone was secretly observing them.
After watching them enter the car, Selena tightened the coat around her and promptly drove away in another direction. Her skinny hands held the steering wheel so tightly that it creaked.
After returning home and closing the door, Selena flung her black coat on the ground and stomped it angrily. "D*mn it! Why is this happening to me? Why did you have to do this to me? Why am I living like this?"
"I hate this ugly black color! It's so depressing!"
Furiously, she stepped on the black coat a few more times and stumbled. She crouched down on the ground helplessly. In an instant, tears welled up in her eyes. Even if she had been normal, she would still not have had a chance with him, would she?
Why? Why did she and Trevor have to be distant relatives? If they were more closely related, she would never hold onto her hopefulness. If they were more distantly related, they might be able to be together forever!
Why did she have to be someone who was not too far away nor too closely related to him? In the past, it was not a big deal for cousins to get married. But now, it violated all kinds of laws!
However, in this world, who would care about her except for him? In this world where the strong preyed on the weak, she was lucky enough that he didn't bully her.
Leaning against the wall, Selena closed her eyes, and a beautiful picture of Trevor and Victoria talking and laughing flashed in her mind. She was there too, but she was timid and would hide behind others and dared not to speak loudly. Selena's chest was pounding vigorously as she recalled his words.
"Nana, be a good girl and don't cause any trouble. Do you understand?"
"We don't have money, but we can't take this. This is not something that we can afford. Let's improve our lives. I'll make your favorite candies and buns..."
"Nana, why did you talk back? It's your fault! Apologize quickly!"
"Nana, be obedient! Don't fight with others. You will get hurt. If you are patient, you won't be beaten up. Others will like you. You won't get hurt, understand?" All of a sudden, Selena opened her eyes and she grabbed her hair in frustration. Had she not been through enough?
Ever since she was young, for the sake of a better life, her life seemed to have never changed whether she was following her mother or lodging under another person's roof. It was
never her turn to have any ne
good. Everything she got was always things that were left over by others. She would always be the first to apologize no matter what the truth was. If she was stubborn, she would not be unable to get justice. She would have to bear her mother's complaints or beatings.
She did not deny that her mother doted on her, but her mother's bitter tears were engraved in her mind. It became a lingering nightmare that she could not get rid of. Now that she thought about it, she felt both pain and hatred.
Selena hated her. She knew that she
was no worse than others. Why did he make her give in again and again just because of his family background? Was it just because she was born in a singlefamily or was it because she was fatherless?
Was it just because she was a
nephew who relied on others? Was it because she didn't deserve to have
anything?
When she was a child, she didn't have any toys. When she went to school, she was not treated well by others. When she grew up, she couldn't even choose her own lover. Why did she have to suffer so much just to let go? She was unwilling!
Ever since she was a child, she was always the only one who suffered, be it her life or her destiny.
How could Victoria snatch her lover away? Was it just because of her good family background? Or was it her good luck? How could Victoria snatch away Selena's love and everything that was rightfully hers?
At this thought, Selena felt like her chest was hit and shattered by a surging force. The next second, she tore the black fabric in her hands, ripping open a long slit.
No, she would be the one to decide her own fate! She must take back what belonged to her!
How could Victoria take her place and take advantage of her?
Selena pulled out her phone and dialed a number. "Hello, it's me! Help me look for someone..."
In the interim, Victoria and Trevor had reached home. After washing up, she jumped onto the bed and leaned against Trevor's arm. Victoria was full and content. "Good night, Hubby! I'm so happy today."
With his fingertips twirling around her hair, Trevor replied in a low and charming voice, "Because you made money?"
"Well, that is also one of the reasons!" Looking up at him, Victoria shrank into his arms and hugged him.
"My career is going well and my
family is harmonious. I'm capable of making a living for myself and eat well. My family is healthy too, and my husband loves me very much... I guess this is the best life I could
have. I used to dream of this kind of life..."
And all of them had become a reality!
