Chapter 52
The man had shaped eyebrows, sharp eyes, and a sunny smile on his face. However, his gaze did not make people feel uncomfortable, and he was holding a cup and plate in his hands. He was a stranger to Alicia, hence, she could not but feel a little scared of him.
Had they met each other before?
Why did he look familiar? Could he be... an old acquaintance from Bayton City?
She was inexplicably nervous. When she took a breath, her eyes trembled with fear as she thought, "Who on earth is he?"
She started to get a little worried. The man then approached her, and she was so scared that she took two steps back, almost spilling the drink. Fortunately, Miranda caught the glass at the right time. At this time, the man spoke again to Mrs. Clements.
"Granny, is she your granddaughter? Is she Miss Hallie or Miss Caroline? I've heard so much about them. They are indeed ladies of a great family, beautiful and elegant!"
He just heard Alicia calling Mrs. Clements "Granny" and saw that she had been standing beside Mrs. Clements, serving her tea. The man was obviously excited and reached out his hand to Alicia.
"Hello, I'm Brian Haskell! Nice to meet you!" Hearing this, Alicia suddenly breathed a sigh of relief. It turned out that she had mistaken him for someone else. She was really scared to death! Brian Haskell? Wasn't he a popular movie star?
Mrs. Clements turned around and patted his hand.
"Hey, hey, are you out of your mind? Who was the one who kept telling me that he was very busy? Brat, I warn you, she's unavailable! This is my dearest granddaughter-in-law. Watch out!" Mrs. Clements said.
The man chuckled, but he had already stepped back.
"Granny, how dare I? All your grandsons are the most outstanding persons in the world. How dare I try to do anything to them?" Brian said.
The man stopped smiling and nodded at Alicia, saying, "Sorry, I was rude just now. Please don't take it to heart!"
Alicia lifted the corners of her mouth and replied softly, "It doesn't matter!"
A faint smile appeared on Alicia's face, which was like flowers blooming in the spring. In an instant, Brian's heart skipped a beat. He was amazed by her beauty when he first saw her, but her gentle smile shook his heart at this moment.
In an instant, Brian's expression became more serious. "How should I address you, Miss?"
He knew the situation of the Clements family. Master Frederick was not close to any woman and Master Trevor was a playboy. The Clements family also had another less well-known master who seemed to be still studying! He had never heard any of them getting married. Who could it be her husband?
Could she be someone's fiancee?
Alicia did not dare to answer. Subconsciously, she glanced at Mrs. Clements first. Seeing a nod, she said, "I'm Alicia Blanchard. You can call me Ms. Blanchard!"
No matter whether the man had any ulterior motives or not, her name had already shown her standpoint. At the same time, she had won their favor. Mrs. Clements' eyes curved into a moon-like shape instantly Brian also understood at once. He immediately smiled and said, "Granny, you are so lucky! Can I invite your beautiful granddaughter-in-law to a dance?"
At this time, Frederick's voice was heard. "Alicia!"
Frederick stepped forward and clasped her waist in an intimate manner. The strength of his grip was so overbearing that no one could get away from it. He showed his possessiveness without any hesitation. "Grandma, I'll bring Alicia to meet a few friends!" Frederick said.
Without saying another word, he then turned around and left with Alicia in his arms. He made Alicia feel a little uncomfortable. As he walked, Alicia raised her hand and tried pushing him away. She spoke to him in a lowered voice.
"You are hurting me!" She spoke to him in a lowered voice.
Frederick pinched her waist and glanced at her, "I'm
afraid you don't know who your husband is!"
Looking back at him, Alicia understood the reason behind his actions and immediately muttered unhappily.
"Do you think everyone has no bottom line like you?" Thinking of the nightclub incident, Alicia felt sick. If they were a normal couple, she would have kicked him away! She would not believe him, no matter wha his excuses might be!
She hated men who went after women in the nightclub the most. In her eyes, finding a mistress was no different from looking for a pr*stitute. There was no difference between a betrayal of mind or body. Both were betrayal!
Detecting the unpleasantness in her words, Frederick suddenly felt as if he had won a big prize. He bowed his head and pecked her on the lips quickly.
"That was the first time, and also the last time!" Frederick promised.
That day, he was indeed in a bad mood. He also didn't pay attention to those things.
Alicia's eyes went round as she was obviously shocked by his actions. She thought, "Is he crazy? How could he kiss me in public?"
Her mind was in a mess that she missed him saying the most crucial sentence.
"President Clements-"
At this time, someone waved to greet them from a distance, and Alicia instinctively adjusted her mood, revealing a polite smile.
Neither of them had noticed that two pairs of eyes were watching them the whole time. Brian was both a little disappointed and curious, whereas Hallie was gnashing her teeth and her eyes were sharp. The high-quality sky blue dress which she had prepared especially for this night even got wrinkled from her tight grasp. She was looking at the man beside Mrs. Clements.
Alicia had seen Carson and others before. Therefore, when Frederick brought her to meet them, she did not resist. She only knew then that the four men whom she met that day were the famous four masters of Casterwich City after greeting them! As expected, each of them had their own merits and charm!
However, Willy was not present.
When everyone around them left, Alicia reached out and tugged the corner of Frederick's clothes. As soon as he lowered his head, she whispered in his ear.
"Hey, did you know? This banquet seems to be mainly for unmarried people of your family! Did you notice that there are a lot of handsome men and gorgeous ladies here? Aren't your friends all single? If you call them over, wouldn't it be contradictory? Aren't you afraid that they will cover the glory of your brothers? Or that they will steal your brothers' women?"
In fact, what was even more strange to her was why didn't they secretly carry this out for a better chance at developing relationships?
Frederick tapped her forehead and snorted. "You are so observant and too nosy! Aren't you worried that I'll be taken by other women?"
"I'm just curious! Aren't you... not meeting the criteria?" Alicia asked.
Why the hell did she have to worry? After all, no woman would dare to approach him! If it wasn't for her own experience, Alicia's impression of him would still be that Frederick doesn't like women. She was sure that no woman would be brave enough to come close to him.
Moreover, Alicia, in her subconscious mind, was not very confident about their future at this moment.
"Well, let me talk to my friend for a minute! Wait for me!" Frederick said.
He had just turned away when another figure slowly moved closer.
