Chapter 1354
"We've just begun to enjoy our peaceful lives; why did she have to pop out again? Ugh, I'm pissed! Should I tell mom?" Caroline scrunched up her nose, exasperated.
Just how badly did that woman want to ruin Trevor? Would she only be content when he was finally disgraced? And Trevor as well; just what kind of love potion had she given him? So many unfortunate, yet he poured all his goodwill to only her!
F*cking hell!
Caroline wanted nothing more to curse as the thought came to her.
Their family had been all sunshine and butterflies back then, all until that sh*t of a woman showed up. Worse, they couldn't get rid of her no matter how!
As she mused, she subconsciously tightened her clinging arms to Victoria.
"Victoria, don't be mad at Trevor. He's just temporarily blinded by that woman's false misery. He'll wake up eventually! Her past was indeed deserving of pity, but as kindhearted as one could be, their generosity would one day be used up when she constantly acted piteously! You mustn't get upset over my brother because of her! I can tell he loves you very much. I've never seen him bring any woman home all these years, let alone announce a marriage as soon as he did..."
In fact, the two seemed to be destined to be together. She'd often hear her mother praise Victoria and her beauty in the past, yet her brother's gaze would always be contemptuous, rendering her baffled at who to believe. Then again, things would get interesting whenever Victoria came up in their conversations at home; she'd get to enjoy the anecdote between her mother and brother.
But who'd thought she still ended up her sister-in-law, and it was evident Trevor loved her!
More than that, because of Victoria's relationship with Alicia, and their parents' relationship, she wouldn't say there were absolutely no conflicts, but they were already far better than families who were in constant discord!
So Caroline naturally favored her more and intuitively disliked the idea of being family with Selena, though they were related!
"Maybe because Trevor had witnessed her desolation with his own eyes, he'd accommodated her out of habít since we were little. But he probably only sees her as a sister. I swear, that woman is too vexing; she won't stop clinging to Trevor. Even I am mad! Who does she think she is? Either way, I've had enough of her! My mom used to treat her better than she'd treat me, but after catching her love affair with my brother a few times, she soon grew indifferent! She thinks way too highly of herself, thinking she could make a big fuss out of something so petty. As if Trevor isn't my mom's own son. Did she think my mom would side with her and not consider Trevor's future when it actually came down to things? I swear she enjoyed her life in my home so much that she wished she could leech on us her entire life! I have to bring it up with my mom. It's not like she can't feed herself; we don't owe her anything either. Does she genuinely expect us to support her forever?! Jesus..."
"Victoria, Trevor has his flaws and can be quite negligent sometimes, but he's still alright! He'd protect and stand up for me whenever I'm in trouble, and he's actually not the womanizer everybody thinks he is! If he really is all this and that with women, why hadn't he brought one home in so many years? Plus, even still entangled with that leech? I still believe there are loyal men in this world! Trevor is still diplomatic when it comes to cardinal issues! Don't get upset over him because of women like her, okay? He won't do anything stupid, I promise! Whatever happens, talk it over with him, please?"
Hearing that, Victoria patted Caroline's hand with a smile.
"All in all, you're still trying to put a good word in for your brother, aren't you? Don't worry; I know what to do! I'll think things through and not give anyone a chance to slip in! But don't let your mom know for now, lest things get complicated. Trevor will also be put in a tough position and even get grumbled at if she gets worried. Let him sort it out himself!"
"Alright, if you say so! But I'm on your side, Victoria. If this happens again and you have a hard time speaking out, tell me. I'll yell at him for you, lest he blames it on you and let somebody win! I'll shoulder all the blame! I dare him to disown his little sister! I refuse to believe dad won't give him a good beating..." Delighted, Victoria couldn't hold back her chuckles as she looked at her dear sister-in-law. "Haha, our beloved Miss Clements sure can be intimidating when she gets feisty!"
It was apparent that the siblings were very close!
She had to be honest; apart from Trevor himself, she had nothing in their marriage to complain about. His friends and family earned him brownie points, and she couldn't bear to hurt these kind people the more she got to know them. However, she and Trevor, the most crucial people in their marriage, were like this...
Just then, the boarding signal came, and the two headed to the ticket barrier with their suitcases.
Meanwhile, Trevor had been in a
state of perplexity for what felt like forever. But by the time his mind finally had a chance to rest, he held his phone with absolutely no idea what to do. Time slipped by, and it was already close to midnight when he decided to call Victoria. In the end, he ended the call without even letting it connect.
He had returned to the hotel by then, exasperated. After a shower, he got into the bed, very much attached to his phone at this point, repeatedly scrolling through his every communication app, vexed in the end.
Nothing? Not even a single message?
Forget that she said nothing after so many days; he couldn't believe she still said nothing after running into their earlier situation! No questions, no anger, not even the slightest reaction!
Even Caroline had gotten angry, but she was still like a log. Did it mean she actually didn't care who he was with or what he was doing?
But as he continued to flip through his phone, a new message popped up. It was from Selena, though, reminding him to take care of himself, especially when he had drunk earlier.
His heart wrenched even more as he read the message; even an outsider would check on him. Had he married a rock?
Trevor's face fell, inexplicably exasperated, and with that, he locked his phone.
He tossed and turned the whole
night and finally turned around at daybreak, no longer withholding his urge to retrieve his phone, which he chucked aside. He flipped through it again before landing in the e
V
messaging app, his heart painfully wrenching as he read their past
messages. He suddenly sat up, ruffling his hair.
She used to be quite proactive; since when had she stopped texting?
"Don't you know to come and say hi when you already saw me? Aren't you at all afraid of being kidnapped when you're in a foreign land, taking my sister with you even... Not that I'm worried about you..."
With that, he sent her a text, saying, "Where are you staying? I'll pick you two up for breakfast..."
