* pay you 20 million dollars to get me outta here,” a man’s voice heard..

It was a chilly night on the mountain road by the river, the kind of cold that cut right through people. In a sleek black car, Fiona Harrell, who was in the driver’s seat, caught sight in the rearview mirror of a bloodied guy with a messed up face collapsing onto her back seats, without answering.

“You think that’s not enough?” The dude was clearly in a rush, his voice as frosty as the wind that shook the car.

“Busted tire, this ride’s going nowhere,” Fiona said cool and calm, eyeing the guy, taking in the iron-tangy smell of blood-and something musky- coming off him.

The guy was quiet for a second, panting hard like he’d just run a marathon, with veins bulging on his head and hands like he was holding something back 40 million dollars,” he coughed out, voice all scratchy and weak.

Before Fiona could even answer, she saw a crew of goons in black charging at them in the mirror. “You’re in luck, I’ll give you a discount. Sit tight,” she said, light-footed, fishing a lollipop from her pocket, unwrapping it with her teeth, and popping the car door open.

“Just hand him over and walk away,” the leader of the goon squad barked at her.

Fiona, with a twinkle in her eye and brows raised high with mischief, shot back, “Sorry, no can do. Let’s make this quick, yeah?”

One of the goons leered, “Hey, the lady’s pretty fiery. Maybe we could—”

Fiona cut him off, totally not in the mood for a chat, “Zip it. It’s go time.” With that, she catapulted the lolly from her mouth, smacking the chatty one right in the forehead. The guy tottered and crashed down, blood gushing from his nose.

“You b**h!”

“Shush up!” Fiona didn’t let them recover, barreling into the group. A crisp snap rang out as she went for the big boss, bending his wrist in a way it was

never meant to bend.

Meanwhile, Sebastian Quinn, Mr. Blood-and-Moneybags in the car, watched Fiona take on the gang, a sly grin creeping across his face. Stepping out into the cool air, he sauntered over to her. “Impressive.”

“Pretty slick, huh? Worth every penny of 32 million dollars.” Fiona waved her phone at him. “Make the transfer, or this face of yours is getting remodeled.”

Sebastian’s mouth twitched, and he quickly tapped his phone, sending the cash her way. Fiona’s eyes danced as the transfer came through-32 million dollars, just like that.

“Sorry to be late, Mr. Quinn,” a voice piped up from the sidelines.

Fiona tucked away her phone and glanced at the people around. Nodding at Sebastian, she said with a sweet-as-pie smile, “Looks like your guys want to make it up to you. Maybe find him a nice girl to chill with for a while.”

Sebastian came closer, a look in his eye as he grabbed her chin, “No need. You’re all I need.”

But Fiona wasn’t having any of that. Quick as lightning, she snagged his shoulder, spun him around, and flung him over her head to the ground. Straddling him there he looked a hot mess, but those intense eyes told her he was trouble, big trouble. He was boiling hot and stone-stiff under her if it wasn’t for that heavy payday, she’d have knocked him out right there.

Sebastian wrapped his arms around her waist, stil a bit out of it, but he probably didn’t realize the trouble he was in. Fiona could be dangerous in more ways than one.

Fiona zeroed in on Sebastian’s busted arm and elbowed it good. Sebastian yelped, beads of sweat popping on his forehead as his knip went weak

“You up now? You know who I am and you’re thinking about sleeping with me? I’m about to get hitched to the eldest grandson of the Quinn family from Paellan-my body’s not up for grabs.”

Sebastian pried his eyes open, giving Fiona a sly once over, his voice deep, gritty, and kinda hypnotic, “The Quinns, huh? Nathan Quinn?” He pondered, So she is my future niece by marriage?”

“Spot on.”

Sebastian hinted with a smirk, “He’s just about ready to put a ring on Ms. Harrell.”

Fiona rolled her eyes, “Total crock.”

Fiona got swapped at birth with another kid, Alexa Harrell. Once her real family found the truth, she was seven and it was all sorts of awkward going back. Her dad was cold as ice, her mom couldn’t care less, and her guilty granny set her up with the Quinn family. But then, Fiona was snatched again, and it took another seven years to find her. The Harrell family were mortified and stashed her in a backwoods nunnery. She wouldn’t have even been called back if it wasn’t for some arranged thing with Nathan Quinn. Her mom was rooting for Alexa with the Quinn family and had been on her case for half a year to come cut the engagement. Fiona could squash it, but she wasn’t about to let her mom and Alexa walk away that easily. She was back to shake things up. She snagged a red-eye to Jerraloth, but her car blew a tire on the way. Crummy start for sure, and she was steaming, but a surprise 32 million dollars win cooled her off a bit. After a tussle and making some quick cash, she felt more than satisfied. “You said 40 million dollars, right? Use the leftover to get your guy to fix my tire.”

• Sebastian watched her get in her ride, thinking. That little gold-digger!

“Mr. Quinn, want us to grab her?” John Reese asked.

Sebastian shot him a look, and John zipped it. “Just fix her tire,” Sebastian said, and split

The tire was all fixed, and Fiona drove to the airport, Getting out of her bag, a turquoise bracelet hit the ground. Dangling off it was a fancy crescent pendant with a figer and the name “Seb” on it-looked old-timey and worth a pretty penny. Had to be from Sebastian. Fiona nabbed it, tossed it in her bag, and carted her luggage inside.
